First impressions are everything. Upon walking in, I wasn't sure if this was a bar or bar and grill. The place kinda had a smell to it. I was excited to order the .50 tacos based on reviews and pictures on yelp. The tacos weren't that great and cold upon arrival to our table. The cheese tasted like Parmesan cheese ‍‍ We also ordered a signature burger which was below average. It was not worth the $9.00 but at least the burger was warm. Online hours show them opening at 12:00PM on Sunday. So I drove across town to get there by then because I've been wanting to try the place out. Get there at 12:10PM and the place is locked up and the door is lettered that the opening hours are 4PM. Guess I won't be making this trip again if the owners can't even correct their hours. read more

I live down the street and my husband and I are barely checking this place out and it's really good. Great atmosphere, good music, and most of all the food is excellent and fresh and hot when it comes out. They seemed to be out of a couple beers and dipping sauces though but maybe it was that bumpin earlier in the week. This will probably be our go to spot now. read more

The only saving grace for me was that the fried pickles were ok. Everything else about my experience sucked. How does this place have 5 stars? First off -- the pictures online make it look and feel completely different. If you are on the fence about going but the pictures are swaying you -- don't fall for it. We were thinking it would be like a pub with tacos (who wouldn't like that?) and we were super excited to go here. My boyfriend was all about those 25-cent wings, and I was excited to just go and have a beer that wasn't a bud light. But you walk in and club music is blasting so loud that I had to shout across the table at my boyfriend. Don't get me wrong, I like club music... when I'm at a club. But not when I'm trying to eat dinner. We try to sit down at a place that isn't right under a speaker and the chairs are so messed up at the only open (uncleaned) table that they visibly swayed under my boyfriend when he sat down... and he just got done working as a firefighter for the forest service, so he's not in bad shape. So, we moved to a bar table right under the speakers. They played a lot of Nicki Minaj, which got me and my bf through the experience. Our waitress comes over and asks us what we'd like... she didn't card us, which is a first since I've moved here, but there were a couple of preteen boys running around so I guess their standards for carding were pretty low. My boyfriend asks her what beers she has and she only tells him bud. He was like ... wait, no, you have more than bud, right? And she points over to the taps and was like "we have all those" and lists like shiner, etc. (Later when he tells her what he wants she doesn't know what it is so she whips out her phone and shows him the beers). He can only see goose island in the dim light, so he orders that. I needed time, so I waited. So... we wait like 10 minutes. She comes by and asks what I want and I get a goose island because it sounded better than a shiner. She stays at the table for like three seconds I say "Goose Isl..." and she walks away. My boyfriend had opened his mouth to order and didn't have time to tell her what he wanted because she walked away so quickly. So, she comes back with my beer, we order. I order the shrimp tacos and some fried pickles. She looks at me like I have 3 heads when I say "shrimp tacos" and so I open the menu and point to it and she's like "Oh... uh... I have to make sure we have that". So she disappears again! For like 15 minutes! At this point it is like 8:45 and we got there at 8:15, I'm starving, and pretty pissed off. Our waitress did not come back to let me know, she just put the order right through and then came back after those aforementioned 15 minutes, but she like basically speed-walked by us and as she was walking by was like "Everything good?" and we had to like yell "ACTUALLY we want another beer and do they have the tacos?" She was like "oh, yep!" and walks away. Food comes like 10 minutes later. At like 9. We had been there nearly 40 minutes. She leaves the food. The wings: Had good meat on them, but were basically just like baked wings with sweet baby rays slathered over them. They didn't look great. The Slider Boys: They looked edible. The fries that came with them were good, but at that point, we had been hungry since like 7:30 so we were just happy to put food in our mouths. The Shrimp Tacos: These were breathtakingly horrible. Do. Not. Get. These. I ate them because I hadn't eaten since lunch and was super hungry, but I probably wouldn't have if I weren't so hungry. They're like tiny canned shrimp with melted American cheese on them. Nothing else. Sloppily put together. Something I could have made better in my own kitchen. The sauce that came with them was like a jalapeno salsa -- that was good. The tortillas that the sloppy innards were contained in were also good. The Fried Pickles: Pretty ok, but not great. I left the rest of them, which is something I rarely do with food I order. We finish, the waitress comes back. Asks us how we are doing, but instead of listening to us she directs her attention to her friends at the opposite end of the bar while gathering our food. I ask for our check. I am *very* lenient about server behavior because I know they don't make much and sometimes you have bad days. I eat out a lot and can count on one hand the number of times I've hated my server. But her service was horrible, and it was not the kind of horrible that made me think she was just having a bad day. Like, how do you work at a bar and not know your beers? It definitely wasn't her first day, people were talking to her like they knew her well all over the restaurant. Also, YOU DON'T TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS WHEN YOU ARE SERVING OTHER CUSTOMERS. That's like server etiquette 101... There is excellent food in Brownsville. Everywhere else I've eaten at since I've lived here I have given 5 stars. Save yourself some money and go somewhere with better food and better service. read more

I waited for a few minutes and figured out there was no server since no one came to ask us a thing. ( so far not happy place) I walked up to bar and ordered 2 margaritas. It's south Texas. Signature drinks. As they were placed on bar in large goblets. I eyed them with longing. Like a man in the dessert with nothing to drink. Sadly they were tasteless frozen concoctions. (Still not a happy place) I caught the attention of one of the bar girls and I say this not just because they are women but because no decent bartender would call those margaritas. The good arrived and looked ok. I had ordered the tacos since it was taco Tuesday. 50 cents can't go wrong. And signature burger for my sister. She said it was ok.. overall staff was ok. One of the best experiences I've had in a while at a bar, seriously it's a chill atmosphere and a great family dine in place too.
