There's laser tag, bumper cars, roller skating, bowling, FOOD, arcade games, and more! The kids have a blast and the staff have always been welcoming and friendly! The atmosphere is relaxed and there's a great mix of families, friend groups, kids, adults, etc. And, there's always great specials to take advantage of!! Highly recommend!!!!

I've been here several times, and the bowling alley is always going strong. This time I went on a Sunday night, which seems to be my favorite. The idea was to play in the arcade and have a birthday dinner there. It was less than ideal, and the friendliness of the staff is what made the night somewhat of a success. The bumper car area was empty. I have never seen anyone use them. The skating rink had a couple of people on it. The arcade area seems like it could use more. There are a few ways to earn tickets, and a few games. Some you see in nearly every arcade, like the Jurassic Park one. I wouldn't mind seeing some pinball in here. That would get me in more regularly. We had a few hitches, most of which were addressed quickly. The air hockey table did not give us a puck. After a bit of waiting, a guy came out and gave us one. I noticed the black lights were out on both tables. They have a giant claw to try and grab the big rings of tickets. One of the workers refilled the machine, and after one play we got an error that wouldn't let us play. That was fixed quickly. Almost everything was working, which was nice to see, but I'd like more of it. I grew up in arcades, so even though things have changed, there is a feeling of nostalgia. Bring in some pinball games and let's complete it! To end the night we actually went to BK. I'm not even sure why. I think in the past I just didn't find the food here enjoyable, so I was kind of reluctant to try again. So 3 stars for the arcade experience and +1 for the employees.

I'm kind of fascinated at how many ways the building has been used. What looks like a front door isn't, and when you walk in, there is a glass partition that looks like it used to be the place to check in. The inside is totally old school, which is probably one of the coolest things about it. Anyone who grew up going here can bring their kids and probably have the same experience. They sometimes host roller derby matches and host fund raising events, I think. There is a chance that off season, if you go when there is a lighter crowd, they may not be fully staffed, which stinks if you want a bite or a fountain drink. The outside does look very tired. There are pieces of metal on the building that were signs once, and the tarp with the name and logo of the business is badly faded. The music is usually really loud, so be ready! They play some fun games during open skate, but those can also vary depending on whether or not they are fully staffed. The 4 corners game is a fun way to win a piece of candy or two. Definitely a good way to spend a few hours. The claw machines are what I call "bad claw". Beware!!

On my first visit to this ice arena, I was impressed given the age of the building. Unlike many of…read morethe newer ice arenas which resemble metal barns with domed celings from the outside, this place has the look of one of the many university buildings on the U of I campus where it is located. Once inside, you enter a large lobby area with benches and lockers. This is where the skaters hang out between events. It provides a warm place to stay out of the cold of the ice arena between events. For many ice arenas, this kind of place simply does not exist. Often the skaters hang out in dingy, meat-locker type settings when there's a competition. Here, the skaters could spread out their stuff, relax, read, play chess or get a snack. The concession stand is well-equipped with chips, popcorn, giant soft pretzels, cheesy nachos and hot dogs. They have a great selection and are reasonably priced too. However, the place can be overrun and with only one person typically staffing the counter, the line can be long. If they would get a second person during peak times, I think they would be able to get even more sales, since some people will not wait for that long to order something. As for the ice itself, it held up remarkably well for the Land of Lincoln speedskating tournament. The rink is nice and wide, which gives skaters a wide outer perimeter on turns when racing laps. The corridors around the rink are narrow, but not too crowded since most of the skaters stay in the lobby till their race is up. The viewing area seating is above, lined with rows of benches, where you can sit and look down on the ice. It is high up and provides a pretty unobstructed view of the rink, even from the back row. The design of this building really works well and it makes me wish more ice venues were built in a similar way.
