History

Established in 1997.

Established in 1997 by Dr. Nancy J. Lavelle, she believed that every child, even though deemed "difficult to teach," was a "pearl" and that with dedication and persistence she could illuminate the potential within him/her. Since its inception, the school has grown to offer early education, special education, mental health, transition and adult, and community outreach services while staying true to its child-centric roots. Along with this expansion of services, this growth also led to the creation of Total Education Solutions. From our early start as a consulting company to charter schools, we have rapidly expanded our services in California, Michigan, Ohio, and beyond where we now operate ten multidisciplinary clinics. In person and online, we are proud to serve thousands of children and adults with special needs at hundreds of public, charter, and private school sites, group homes, and our family-centered clinics. In 2019, TES was acquired by key members of the senior management team.

Meet the Manager: Tawna N.

Tawnia Novak is the Director of TES Ohio and Co-Owner of Total Education Solutions. Tawnia has 30 years of experience working and teaching in the field of special education. She has taught on the Navajo Indian Reservation and in the inner city. She began her administration leadership while working on the Navajo Indian Reservation. Tawnia worked for a charter school management company for seven years opening schools across the United States and ensuring compliance across states. Then in 2007, she joined the TES team starting the Ohio region. Since then the region has grown to have 200 employees; 2 pediatric therapy clinics in Fairlawn and Columbus, Ohio has the only chartered nonpublic TES school- TES Academy serving children with disabilities from pre-school to 21 years of age. Ohio region provides therapeutic and other educational services to over 100 public, non-public, private, chartered and other community entities throughout Ohio.
