The entire experience was pleasant. I called, told them the puppy I was interested in, and drove down the next morning to take a look. The puppy was exactly as I'd expected it to be--cute, fluffy, healthy, and happy! I brought him home that morning. To address the concern of whether or not they are breeder: Jon and Jimmie used to breed Yorkies, but stopped several years ago. Now, they operate as a broker only. They sell Yorkies for longtime friends. I can not confirm to whether or not the puppies come from puppy mills, but what I can say is that our Yorkie was healthy, well cared for, well-marked, and adapted extremely well. Our puppy did have some hypoglycemia issues (common in these little babies). I was able to reach out to Jimmie by email, then phone, to discuss. While our puppy is just fine now, Jimmie was genuinely concerned and really helpful. She asked that I let her know if there are any systemic issues (i.e. liver shunt) found so that the dog's parents would not be bred again to prevent this genetic defect. Fortunately, no liver shunt was found.

Guiding us through pens, litter boxes, foods, treats, brain toys, routines, training, schedules, socialization techniques, vaccinations, and all of the little quirks that someone out of the puppy game for a while may not be aware of, we felt so much more confident upon delivery of our pup. They will also arrange hand delivery of your new pup if you need and fly with the dog to you which is such a great option. The work they do with the puppies is unmatched. The stimulation and training they give the puppies makes for a very smart, happy, healthy, confident and social dog and made the transition for the little guy a breeze. He came litterbox trained, which is such an awesome option, especially since we live in a high rise. Our poor dogs have such painful health issues, hearing loss, and behavioral issues stemming from this poor breeder. She lies. Period. Be prepared for expensive surgeries and specialist vet visits every few months. We bought a pair of siblings. Both have extensive pain and mobility issues from poor genetics. They were born with these genes there is nothing you can do, expect to support them with love and tons of $$$ for vets and physical therapy, medications, supplements, fresh foods. Even with the best care, and best trainers, they have pain. These puppies are NOT purebred chihuahuas. Please Do not be fooled. Do not support this type of breeder. On April 11, I adopted a very sweet brown tabby cat through the organization, PetsAlive. I named…read moremy new cat Theodore and was told that Theo had been found on the streets and had recently had scabies, eye surgery and skin issues - all of which seemed to be healing nicely. I was never told of his extensive dental disease or that he had feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). I noticed that Theo's energy level seemed a little low, but he was eating very well and didn't display any signs of digestive issues. I DID notice that his breath was very smelly, so I took him to my veterinarian. The long story made short is that Theo will have to have several teeth extracted and his length and quality of life could be affected because bloodwork showed that he is positive for FIV. I have requested that PetsAlive take care of the dental issues Theo has since I can't afford thousands of dollars for teeth to be extracted. My concern of permanently returning Theo to PetsAlive is that his cycle of being an unwanted rescue cat will continue. His life could be one of going from adoption site to adoption site and never being adopted because of his bad teeth and FIV diagnosis. Please be aware that, according to my veterinarian, there are several no kill shelters that DON'T test animals for FIV or leukemia. Before you adopt an animal, please ask if the animal has been thoroughly tested for diseases that could affect the animal's health and wellbeing.

The facility is very clean and run more like a very upscale vet clinic then a shelter. The workers are very friendly. There's so many beautiful creatures that want to give love and be loved if we just take the time to go and visit with them until we find our new friend. Don't spend money on designer animals when these perfect and beautiful souls are there by no fault of their own waiting to be rescued. You'll want to take them all home that the hardest part. The staff is wonderful.

I wish I remembered her name. She didn't believe anyone with children should receive a pet, specifically one with an autistic child (whom the cat bonded with immediately). Her theory was that a cat should have it's own room in your house. She told me that because their animals were never euthanized and they ran on donations, they can deny anyone they want and to "go find a place without standards" if I wanted a cat. That cat was still in a cage a year later. It seems as if they don't want to adopt out, just receive funding. I picked a kitten at the Webster shelter from an abandoned litter. He's wonderful and happy; well loved by both my children and we've had him for a year now. Basically: do not donate to this place. Do not adopt from this place.
