Marks is the quintessential British department store. With departments selling everything from clothing to kitchen appliances to bed and bath soft furnishings, plus a major supermarket of food, it's possible that you could shop M&S and never need to go anywhere else. They literally sell everything but cars! Very good quality stuff. Not just the clothing (which tends to run more towards the expensive side than the moderate end), the food options are plentiful. Lots of ready-to-heat items and things that need little preparation. I managed to find exactly what I needed - a decent pair of sneakers and a warm sweater. I also stocked up on a few eats too. Yay, Marks and Sparks! I'll be back.

I pointed this out to the store supervisor but she wasn't interested in that. She just kept saying well you have had it a year. Needless to say I did not get a refund but then knowing how they deal with returns I was not expecting one. Whilst I am on the subject I find the staff on the concession counters abysmal, they might a well have a do not disturb sign around their neck.

Similar in theme to Macy's or Dillard's or Bloomingdale's in the States, the John Lewis department store is carved up into various sections for menswear, ladieswear, boys, girls, housewares, electronics, jewelry, perfumes and more. Very good service, which is what you are paying for. The electronics department includes televisions, radios and computers, priced at what I think are above PC World and Argos prices. All that said, it's a lovely store and a pleasant shopping experience. If I ever win the lottery, this is where I will blow most of my winnings.

The bedding and furniture departments were delightful in options and prices, everything from cheap as chips to in my dreams. The clothing has some great sales if you are able to come at the right time, and there seems to never be lines for the dressing rooms (that alone would make anyone a fan). Departments include clothing (mens/women/children), shoes, housewares, makeup/perfume, accessories, electronics, you name it they have it. Great if you need a gift for someone and are at a loss as there is bound to be something here. Should you not be able to make it to the Reading location, John Lewis also has an online gift registry which is sure to make life easier for all. Enjoy!

This is quite a big Primark in the inside shopping centre…read more It can get really busy especially at weekends and the clothes can be on the floor and things very untidy but the staff do try to tidy things up. Downstairs is womenswear and there is always something to buy as it is so cheap. They do nice ladies pyjamas and dressing gowns. Upstairs is menswear, childrens, babies and housewares. The duvet covers are nice and wash well and very cheap, there are some nice cushions for living room and bedroom and nice smelling candles. There is usually a queue at the tills but there is a lot of tills and staff and you can get served quickly but it takes ages on a Saturday.
