During the pandemic, in spite of all the stress, the staff have been unfailingly courteous and immensely helpful. Recently, several jams had sold out. I waited for a staff member and made him aware of my needs; he immediately went off to find what I was looking for and returned less than two minutes later to restock these products and hand me the things I required. He did this so politely that the episode stuck in my mind. Long ago I worked for several top West End stores so I know the normal pressures on shop workers: the customers are ten times ruder than the staff! Well done, Budgens. I've found the staff in here to be mostly very rude. I find it uncomfortable when managers rude to their staff and the manager in this store always seems to be chastising one of the employees. I don't think it's professional to do that in front of customers.

You can either pay cash at the check out counter or in the self checkout basket section which might be 3, 4 or 5 tiles. This changes all the time - apparently the tiles have 'problems' according to one of the staff. Customers are being asked to use the self scan service which works well if you pay by card. If you pay cash then you must queue - WHY. The customer is already doing everything and gets penalised because they pay cash. TESCO wake up to the real world, not everyone has a card !!!!!

The range of pulses in (I think biodegradable) unfussy packaging is cheap and they do reduce short sell by date stuff. You also get decent heavy-duty single use plastic bags in abundance, unlike the flimsy sort you get in the store. Having said that you have to book a shopping slot at least a month in advance for popular times (e.g. Friday mornings), which does involve checking out a basket worth at least 50 quid. This is not as bad as it sounds because you can always add and subtract that basket right up to mid day on the day before delivery. Beware however that the website gets incredibly slow as this deadline approaches, so you're better off finalising the delivery the evening before.

It is opposite Furzefield Leisure Centre and near to the Cranborne Industrial Estate so very handy for locals. They sell sandwiches and all the essentials. There is a bakery section selling buns and rolls and cakes etc but it's too close to Christmas for me to look at that section. I called in today for some light bulbs and got the energy saving type for 10p each which made my day. There are two downsides with this Tesco Express. Firstly the parking. It is in a little service road which is always very full. It is better to park in the pub, in Furzefield or along Mimms Hall Road but then you have a little walk. The second bad thing is that there are always trolleys full of cardboard rubbish at the front of the shop. It makes the whole area look untidy. My son spoke about the "rubbish Tesco" and I knew immediately which one he meant and prompted me to write this review. I don't think they could do much about the parking but the rubbish they could.

My first time there, so give me a break, hey I only wanted petrol (well chocolate too) and had been told it was 'right around the back'. Ok, I understnd that instruction. But it evaporates when, as a newcomer, you enter the entrance of the car park. Where the heck is the back? I'd missed the sign of course, so I tootled round and about, and saw a chap in a reflector jacket, I asked him the way. He made sense, was insructive and clear, until I got to the corner he told me about. Hmmm, what's the worst that could happen? I kept going and finally actually saw a sign, just as I clocked the petrol station. The staff were very friendly indeed, and amused at the quantity of chocolate I bought. Alas, I still need to sponge my skirt as most of it melted on my lap.

I do love Tescos and use the one at Faraday Retail Park in Coatbridge!…read more Unlike Bluesofty's parking experience (ha, ha!) the car park is in front of the store, which is all you see of it when you enter the retail park thank goodness!!! My problem is always (and wherever I am) not being able to find my car when I finish shopping! Not funny when it's a freezing winter's night and one is having a youthful incontinence moment!!!!! The selection of fresh fruit and veg, fish and meat (everything really) in Tescos is brilliant and it is very hard to drag me away from the chocolate aisle! I am a Cadburys Dairty Milkaholic and it has to be the largest possible bar available! I get severe withdrawal symptoms when I detox ocassionally due to the jeans waiste tightening feeling!!! When going through one of these periods I linger for many minutes at a time just looking at the chocolate on the shelf and willing myself not to put any in my trolley!!! A couple of weeks of this and the cravings disappear! I can spend hours in Tesco just looking, wishing to buy and thinking can I or can I not afford (clothes, books, shoes, bags, electrical goods, toys, games, kitchen ware, paint, DIY, the lot)! You name it Tesco has it! It's clean and staff are helpful plus usually share a joke with you, which always makes a day feel even better! I also have 2 lovely large cloth green bags but unfortunately I keep leaving them at home or, when I put them in the boot of my car I forget to take them out before going into the store!
