A small Sainsbury's store, located inside Frenchgate in Doncaster town centre, I was disappointed…read morewith this store overall as not only was I unable to get the products I was looking for but due to being located inside the shopping centre, the opening hours are heavily reduced, for example, they close at 7 pm during the week, I, therefore, think moving the store to a larger unit elsewhere in Doncaster town centre would be a much better idea going forward. The staff in the store seemed friendly and polite, especially because they seemed to be dealing with many customers looking for products which were "out of stock", I noticed one staff member be asked from three different customers and have to turn them away, which was a shame. They do have Smartshop which is helpful, as it allows you to scan your shopping as you walk around the store, using a mobile device, bagging the items as you go. 2* - The store was clean and the staff are friendly, but due to limited stock and opening hours, it wouldn't be a store I would return to. I much prefer Marks and Spencer nearby.

The instore layout is a bit cramped and the decor is very old fashioned - 1980s would be my guess. There isn't (unless I've missed it) direct access to the car park so you've got a bit of a trek with your bags of groceries back to the car. It is, however, really handy for the bus and train stations if you're using public transport. I suspect that this store will undergo some sort of refurb soon, as I just don't see how it can pay the way it is at the moment. I am a big fan of Sainsbury's but this one - while it serves a purpose - just isn't up to scratch I'm afraid.

Visited Handsworth Sheffield, the lady on the self check outs was so rude, & spoiled my day. 3 times she said " I haven't got time to show you. Go to groceries, which I couldn't see. I felt embarrassed & patronised. I then told a Manager, & the the reply was, " she can be a bit abrupt sometimes" no apology. All none food stuffs can be found upstairs on the mezzanine floor, which means you get to play on the travelator. The pizza counter is well worth paying a visit to as you can get freshly made pizzas reasonably cheaply. Also, listen out for the compère at the front of the store. They're usually hilarious as they try their best to flog you bags of carrots and the like for a whole 2p less than usual.

I stopped here to buy some petrol on the way up to York - and ended up having a cup of coffee in the in-store Costa Coffee. I'm not quite sure how I would cope using this for my ordinary weekly shop, but I'd certainly need comfy footwear. The car park is huge, the frontage is long, and the aisles seem endless. You could probably fit St Paul's cathedral in several times over. That said, it's got everything you could possibly need in the grocery line; the services include photo-processing, pharmacy, opticians, newsagents, car wash, jet wash, petrol station, and there's a recycling point and a cash-point. Ranges include clothes, their Asain, Afro-Caribbean, Polish and 'World foods' (presumably everything else?), with fresh meat and fish counters, a delicatessen and cooked chicken counter. The store is fully accessible, with customer toilets and baby-changing facilities. The car park has what look to be wind turbines whirling around - I wonder if they generate electricity?

It has a massive car park and a petrol station, and is just opposite a retail park with B&Q, TK Maxx, Next, ToysRUs and McDonalds, KFC, Frankie & Benny's and a large family pub. Also just across the road from Scunthorpe United Football Ground, so it does get extremely busy on a weekend, especially match days. Inside, you're faced with a massive store that sells almost everything. They've got loads of food and drinks, homewares, electricals, toys, clothing and garden accessories. There used to be a cafe/restaurant, but it has recently ben replaced with a Costa so not much good if you want food, but fine for a cuppa. There are Direct desks too at the door, so you can collect anything you've ordered online to save on P&P charges. Loads of tills, always loads of staff - a really good place to shop.

They always have a couple of aisles of bargain non-food items - it's easy to think you're getting a bargain because it's in Aldi, and a lot of the stuff is good value but some of it really isn't that great and overpriced. Their fresh food is quite good, and they do really competitive prices on fruit and veg as well as unrecognised European brand names.

It's hidden away in the corner of the shopping area, just off the main road but there's plenty of free parking outside and not normally too much traffic. The service I've always had has been fine - nothing exceptional but generally good. There's no petrol station or Direct desk but for normal day-to-day groceries I'd recommend calling in to this branch.

Many people are put off by the price, but you get what you pay for, and if you can afford it then it really is worth paying the extra. They price match Tesco on a wide range of items, and they also sell a selection of John Lewis home furnishing items. They do a reserve and collect service which is separate to the Ocado home delivery service - look at their website. This particular branch is nice, clean, spacious and friendly. It's well located just off the northern side of the outer ring road, just off the A46. It has a petrol station but it can be dearer than others in the area, and there is rarely any problem parking. If you haven't been, give it a try - especially in the evening when there are always fabulous bargains to be had on short-dated items.
