And I travel 2 to 3 times a year for my business and wanted to travel at least once a year for family. And Hawaii would have been great because we have family there. Well unfortunately they left out the fact we had to stay in their hotels! So I never was able to go to Hawaii because there hotels weren't even remotely close to our family. So NO FREE AIR FARE for an $8000 buy in decision. Then when I needed it for business it was the same way, no hotels close to my conventions. Then used it for a few times for personal travel. The kicker was, most the places I booked were terrible! One was so bad we couldn't even stay!!! On top of that most of the time you had to pay in advance and many no money back. Terrible experience for $8000 sign up fee.

Bob got back to me first thing this morning and said he'd work on it. True to his word this afternoon I received an email from him with the most affordable combination of flights for my trip. He indicated he's familiar with the area and he would be happy to advise us on lodging. I'm excited and cannot wait to hear what he comes up with for the hotel & a tour of NYC. If things continue as they're going right now, I've just found myself a new travel agent!! And he's found himself a client who enjoys traveling. :)

Could have taken a taxi to the train station, instead of several taxis and walking. Not happy. Kim should have also told us that for big tours like the Vatican, you are herded around like cattle ($$$$$$$$$) and have no time to enjoy what you see (you are better off with a picture book. Would not use Kim Johnston at Travel Leaders again. Makes you just want to go home. Very disappointing. Very expensive vacation. Oh, now in Florence in a room you can't move in (tiny--2 women and 2 suitcases and 2 backpacks--can't move. I wish I could set the itinerary for Kim's next vacation. Now in Venice and same rotten deal. Hotel away from everything and water taxi round trip is 160 euro. Kim would probably say she was trying to keep costs down ($11,700) before going anywhere). But, she could have told me that with my budget, trip would not be enjoyable. I can't possibly express our disgust and disappointment. Absolutely can't wait to be home! We didn't know anything about going on safari, and Phil build a custom trip that catered to exactly our personal travel style of going to some of the more off-the-beaten-path places with fewer tourists, but still lots of amazing experiences (we watched a family of elephants chase off a pair of male lions!). Everyone we met was on their 4th or 10th safari and when they found out we'd never been before, they'd always ask, "So how did you even find this place?" Also I had no idea you could have a vacation with this much adventure and yet zero stress. Having Phil take care of everything and getting it all arranged for and paid in advance took a HUGE load off of us, which was so great as we both have jobs where we typically do a lot of planning and project management.
