My friend calls this the wrestler restaurant because TK Kebap was founded by an Olympic athlete. It's mantar çorba (cream of mushroom soup) is hands down the best I've ever had.
When I enter, most of the young or middle aged men are behind the counter. The host-servers are typically older like grandfathers... unless you sit in the very back of the restaurant, where we experienced a new trainee (who still did a good job).
Food is served rather quickly -- a true lifesaver when I barely have an hour for lunch during a workday. A lahmacun is super cheap, and I typically order it when I'm craving a soft taco. Fold it in half instead of rolling it like a Turk. I also like a bottle of spicy şalgam to kick up the heat a notch. This got me through some rather cold winter days.
The pide is fabulous too unless you want something with fewer carbohydrates. The extra long size is guaranteed to fill up two girls with decent appetites.
BTW the shredded vegetable salad features green lettuce, purple cabbage, carrots and tomatoes. Squeeze the lemon juice on it and share with your tablemates. It's included in the price of your meal. read more
