Finishing up my fourth year at this school. There were rumors a girl was suspended for leaving a…read morenegative review. I came to this school to escape bullying at my local public school. The building is too small and overcrowded. I've had classes with over 20 students and ones with only ten students. If you are thinking about enrolling your child in this school, go to trinity valley instead. While I am fortunate enough to have the option of changing schools, I am at the point in my education where I have built up so many friends that it would be a waste to start over. The funding for this school is a joke. Two years ago there was an electrical fire. The visual art department is severely underfunded and undersupplied. The choir students are the golden children, and are at the top of the pecking order. Every classroom on the top floor has stains in the ceiling tiles from leaks in the roof. The bathrooms are terrible. Take into account the fundraisers every year that make around 50k for the school, and you question where the money goes. The 25-26 school year was a rollercoaster for the staff. It began with the new art teacher getting fired for looking up girls skirts when they would grab supplies from the high shelves. Then the tech theater teacher was fired for ignoring the needs of neurodivergent students, as well as reports of him being creepy around the girls. Long term subs were found for both of them. However, two weeks before the end of school, when the teachers re-signed their contracts, several were told they wouldn't be able to come back next year due to budget issues. While complaining to one of my affected teachers, she alluded to the idea that the superintendent got a raise, despite these "budget issues". In my opinion this was scummy of admin, as the affected teachers wouldn't be able to claim all unemployment benefits as they weren't technically fired. The bullying among the elementary, middle school, and freshman students has gotten terrible. Nothing is done by teachers. There are no anti-bullying programs. The counselors are only there for dual credit classes and scheduling. High schoolers are under an insane amount of pressure. We are all heavily encouraged to enroll in dual credit courses, and even if you don't, your friends are in them, and you start to think you aren't smart enough compared to them. I personally know a girl who cries when her grades are under 95. One of the only positives about this school is the teachers. Almost all of the teachers are amazing and kind individuals. While a good chunk aren't that great at actually teaching, they are all so kind and supportive. If they weren't there, I probably would have come to school sobbing every morning. Many of the issues this year were not addressed by the new principal. Not to mention we had no vice principal the last half of the second semester. TLDR: this school is severely underfunded, teachers aren't paid enough to care, it will ruin your child's mental health. You have to buy uniforms then pay to dress out. While it's certainly better than some schools, just look for a better one. At this point in time, FWAFA isn't worth it.

During my search one of the first things I stumbled across was Elm Street Studio. I loved the reviews and pictures on yelp so my co-host reached to get all the info on everything. The process was pretty easy and it was priced reasonably. Even more importantly the venue was adorable and the perfect size. We were planning to host a group of 25 ladies. The venue has a nice front room, a center area which is good for a couple of tables, a back room with fire place that is pretty big and a nice size kitchen. We used all the indoor space for our event. There is also a lovely backyard and patio area that can be used for different things as well. Everyone was super nice and accommodating to us. We got so many compliments on what a cool venue this place was for a baby shower. I would absolutely recommend this spot if you are looking to host an event. I think it would be really cool to have a small wedding and reception here.

It is cozy and trendy and makes for a great place to host any event. Jessi, the event manager, and Shelly, owner, were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to cater to our needs. Jessi helped us set up the décor on the day of the event. There are three rooms that you can use and were able to MORE than comfortably accommodate our party of 25. They have a beautiful backyard that can be used too. I would definitely recommend this venue to my family and friends. Thank you Jessi and Shelly, we are so pleased. You made our event SO memorable. Wish you success and growth!

My youngest is playing football for Texas Wesleyan and it feels more and more like "home" every time we step foot on the campus. This is a place where personal connection to your environment, fellow students, faculty, and staff MATTER. Here the "we care about your child" isn't just spoken, but lived, at every single level of the University. College isn't for everyone. If it's for you (or your child) check out Texas Wesleyan if smaller CAN be better - smaller campus, smaller classes, more tightly reigned focus (after all who really needs a degree in 20 different Chinese dialects?!), and a staff that knows your child's name. This isn't A&M; this isn't TCU. This is like Cheers in a sense - everyone will now your child's name and will do everything they can to make sure they succeed. This is the right fit for my bright, communication-focused, self-directed child; it wasn't about whether he was a big fish in a small pond, or a small fish in a huge pond. This is about finding the right-size pond where he can thrive. I believe with my whole heart that TX Wes is that place. There's a Rosedale Renaissance going on; I can't wait to watch this place and its community get better and better!

It is not a safe place for conservatives not Christians.

We come back down to Hurst every summer just for him to be able to take classes for a week. All of the instructors are patient, kind and caring. They want every child to do their best and be proud of their work. I love to go in a few minutes early for pickup just to hear the instructors working and encouraging the kids. The instructors are always positive and upbeat. I have not met one student or a parent of a student to ever say a bad word about Art Castle and the teachers. Your children are in excellent hands and will come out with a great experience and love of Art.

Then you say well he doesn't really have a behavior issue when we get ready to pull him from camp. Then you state that well my child said his school teacher called us several times for behavior issues. So as an adult you believe a little kid instead of having a conversation with the parent(s) ? Who cares about your 20 years as a school teacher prior to this? All that does is allows you to group kids based on past experiences but you missed on this one. In your mind, you think we are " just some regular black parents". The truth is we are very educated and do accept false narratives. This child had won many awards for his school work , helpfulness, and citizenship. He has tested in the top 3% percentage in the country for math & reading in his age group. He plays the piano very well, plays the guitar, has a true love for art. Never once has there been a behavior issue and I have the references from the daycare, private schools, and gifted and talented schools that he has attended since 3 years of age. I am a realist and the one thing that I will not let happen, is for anyone to create a narrative that is untrue. If you were telling the truth, I could live with that. You have a problem within you. You have a "better than" complex. The other people that work for you know that you were not honest with what you said today. They may be afraid because of their jobs. It appears to me that there is no issue except for the fact that he is very intelligent and brown skinned. Well you now have your wish....a color free school.
