I explained to her that I actually had my card number, expiration date, and security code, my SS#, birthdate and everything she needed to validate me, but she said she could do anything for me. It is difficult when you lose something that is valuable and just want to turn off the ability to use the card, but are continually told there is nothing they can do. I had been very pleased with everything that Eastman had done for us previously, but this lack of customer service has me second guessing my decisions.

We've had good experiences with East Texas Professional Credit Union in the past -- great car loan…read morerates and friendly in-person service. Unfortunately, our recent experiences have been very disappointing. First, we were told we had to drive five hours to a branch in person to initiate a rollover. When we got there, we learned that wasn't true at all. All we needed to do was initiate it through our brokerage account directly. We weren't given that information up front, so the trip was a complete waste of time. Second, when we did proceed with the rollover check, it was mishandled. The check was sent without the account number, got rejected, and then was deposited into our regular account with a stop payment fee charged to us. It took more than two weeks and multiple inquiries to get that fee refunded. And when the refund finally came through, it wasn't even deposited into the correct account. Throughout this whole process, there was no communication, no explanation, and no apology. Finally, when we tried to make a principal-only payment on our vehicle loan, the service was just as poor. We were told it couldn't be done until the following week because of ACH, even though the funds were clearly available in our account. The representative promised to call us back multiple times but never followed through. We always had to chase her down, and every time we did, we were just given another excuse. Between being given misinformation, wasting time and travel, mishandling our money, refunding fees incorrectly, and failing to communicate, we've lost a lot of trust in this credit union. This whole experience has made us consider leaving ETPCU altogether. I hope they take accountability and improve, because this level of service is unacceptable.

The final loan amount was higher than the actual principal amount to be financed. I had notified the bank, of this error prior to closing. They agreed to fixed this. Unfortunately, I did not catch the error at closing. And the bank refused to change the documents after I had already signed them. Shame on the bank. I would not recommend this bank.

Social Security confirmed that, because he was alive in October, the bank had no legal grounds to withhold or return that payment. However, Community Bank insisted that they had received a notification from the SSA--yet the SSA hadn't even been informed of his passing at that point. After considerable effort, we spoke with Ty Gibson, who provided no help and merely cited "bank policy" as the reason. Even our local Social Security office admitted they frequently see this exact issue with Community Bank. The same thing happened when my mother-in-law passed eight years ago, and eventually, they had to issue us a check after much back and forth. This situation raises serious concerns: 1) How did the bank find out before the SSA? 2) Why was the payment returned for a period when my father-in-law was still alive? 3) Why does Community Bank persist with this practice when they know it's wrong? In short: AVOID Community Bank. Their handling of sensitive matters is unprofessional and unacceptable.
