I arrived at Texas Farmers Market around 10 AM on Saturday and the market was already hopping. It was a bit busy with traffic around the market, but plenty of parking in a dirt lot nearby, and even more in a paved lot if you're willing to walk a bit. The market stalls included some fresh produce, some meats and fish, lots of preserved items like jams, fermented goods, and pickled goods. Several stalls offered vegan and gluten free baked goods. More stalls offered tinctures, herbals, and stuff like that, and there were a couple stalls with craft goods like jewelry and art. Oh, also many prepared food options, and plenty of picnic tables at which to eat. I was impressed by the number and variety of stalls. There wasn't much produce variety, but it's late September so likely a time of year thing. While here, I saw lots of families and couples wandering the stalls. Every producer I talked to was friendly. I left with okra, a seriously large Armenian cucumber, peach jam, pickled carrots, and a bottle of cider. I also picked up a large donation from Lone Star Lettuce, which supports a nonprofit I work with. read more
