They have a huge selection of things, it's a really big store. Very organized. I recommend this thrift.

Their fitting rooms are closed due to covid but they allow you to exchange in two weeks as long as you have the receipt and tags on. Only comment I will say is the sometimes the lines are long to pay and they have only one cashier. read more

Good thrift store, but recently the A/C was hardly working. Needless to say it took long for the A/C to get repaired yet it's still not at 100% fixed. Some parts of the store the A/C is working but not the entire store. I feel bad for the employees that work there & have to finish their shift under those conditions. God, I love this store! You never know WHAT you're going to find. Whether you're shopping for kitchenware, clothing, housewares or the makings of a great Halloween costume, there's a good chance that you'll find it here. One of my friends buys most of his clothes here. It's not just your grandpa's clothes either; they've got lots of brand-name items in great condition. I've found plenty of cool stuff too, like the painting I put in my guest room and a lovely leaded and stained-glass mirror ($3.99!!! I know it cost WAY more than that new). It's a big store too and is very well-organized by category and size so it's easy and pleasant to shop. Recently BF and I tried our hand at making homemade pizza which worked really good until we tried to put the pizza in the oven. A few days later we just happened to go to Texas Thrift and guess what we found - a brand new pizza peel!!! (The wooden thing that you use to put the pizza in the oven). What luck, right? And not just any pizza peel either, some fancy German-made peel. A quick internet search revealed the new price - $45.00. At $3.99 I'd say I did pretty well. I'll definitely be back and recommend that you check it out too. Oh, and if you don't find anything, it helps to check back frequently because they are always getting in new items. It used to be my favorite store. I found many tops, pants, purses brand new too, at a very good price but since the pandemic the prices are gone wey too high, can't try on clothes and no return. I stop going, not worth it anymore. Very sad because it was my favorite store for many years read more

Don't ever go here after 8. The store hours and everywhere says they close at 9. Even on the front door, but they start closing announcements at 8, and starting kicking people out of the store at 8:15. At 8:20 an employee came up to me and said "the store is about to close, you have to leave" I said "it's 8:20?" The line to checkout is always extremely long and takes forever. read more

There's a faint smell but other wise everything is ok. Staff is bilingual and very friendly. There is a big book section and a huge selection of clothing with discounts on the daily. The bathrooms are clean but very old. Nonetheless this thrift shop usually never sees me leave without buying something. Getting to the thrift shop is a nightmare but there is usually adequate parking. Alot of the clothes are in good shape but the men's section is a bit limited. Like most thrift shops it's a great place to find glassware. read more

Love there low prices and they have unique items.. There staff is very helpful and nice..

In terms of clothing selection, it's pretty great. There's a variety of brands from vintage to modern. It's big and, in my opinion, pretty clean. The staff is bilingual, which is a HUGE plus. I deducted a star only because the prices here are pretty expensive for a thrift store. I refrained from buying anything because it wasn't worth it to me. However, overall, my shopping experience here was pleasant. I would probably come back but on a day when there's a sale. read more

Worst customer service !! I went by the store today and found a heavy sweater without a price... I took it to the front to ask for a price on it, and the associate looks at it for awhile and then says "IT'S MINE".. I'm like, I found it on a hanger. And she's like, I lost it last week because the the office gets so cold... Mind you, this is in July and the weather is above 100 degrees... So customers, beware, if you have an item in your hands and the an associate likes it, they will claim it for themselves in front of your face... She then went and put her name on a white paper and stapled it to the sweater and put it under a register...One thing is claiming all the good stuff because you work there, but when you take it out of a person's hand who found it on the floor is insane.... Best thrift store in McAllen, just has a very good selection of items and I rarely leave empty handed

It's has great finds. They have a retro racks that are a bit pricey, but they have 0.99$ Monday's and special tag sales. Found a gorgeous fur Theresa well as great stuff for kids and brand new board games! read more

Texas Thrift used to be one of my favorite stops for finding vintage clothes and shoes and other cool stuff but ever since it's moved to the new location I noticed the prices of everything went up, and I mean UP. Like you'd be able to get a cute blouse for $4 or $5 and denim jeans for $3-$6 (which was still a bit pricey for a thrift store but passable). Now you'll find shirts that go as high as $10 and jeans are typically no cheaper than $6, ever, and you're just like what the? It's understandable that the store expanded but at the same time people need to remember it's a THRIFT STORE not a new retail shop. I guess you can still find some ok deals if you look really really hard or if you don't mind overpaying for used stuff just because the new location is "nicer" than before. And that's because I gave this store a lot of chances by going back at least 10 times since the new location opened because I really didn't want to dislike it so much but ehhh...sorry. I just can't. 2 stars just because I found some cool things at this place back then. read more
