Food was delicious, great variety on the menu and serving size was very generous. Was able to BYO but also noted they had some good staple wines available for selection. Highly recommend, we'll be returning for sure! Was very quiet for patrons (maybe because it was midweek?) but takeaway seemed to be flowing in and out of the door.

It is seriously good, and reason enough alone to head to this Thai restaurant in Rosanna Village. The décor is calming and stylish and the second level makes this small space appear bigger then it is. The service is charming if not a little erratic and there is a limited beverage selection so BYO. Now to the main event, the food. It is consistently delicious. Have I mentioned the roti? Please don't be dissuade by my obsession with the roti, the rest of the menu is great in itself. Thai curries mingle with spicy salads and noodles. Everything on the menu is good, no great. The dishes taste as they are made from the freshest ingredients and the flavours are simple yet complex, like all good Thai food should be. Baan Thai also delivers in the local area and the quality of the food is maintained here too. Check the website and phone your order through, it is popular so on Friday and Saturday nights make sure you leave at least an hour. Baan Thai is a consistent and welcomed addition to my families birthday dinner rotation. And did I mention the roti?

The coconut rice is a must. Can easily order one curry main dish with coconut rice and split it between two people, servings are large enough to share. Just make sure you leave room for dessert! The banana dumplings are melt in your mouth delicious. They even have specialty drinks and BYO wine only. Huge selection from soup, curry, fish, charcoal grill, claypot dishes, stir fry, noodles, rice, and vegetarian. Only trouble was parking, had to park in closest suburbian side street. Thai on Street makes mention on the exterior of the venue that they are Thai 'fine dining' however, they really aren't - and that's probably for the better. It's a cosy, simple venue with some pretty spectacular food. The small restaurant was packed late on a Sunday night while the competitors that surround them where empty - do I bother even writing anymore? We ordered the entree 'basket', which offered one item of each of the entrees - fish cake, money bag, spring roll, curry puff and prawn spring roll. All were delicious but the money bags were a particular standout - I might just order them the next time. For mains we shared a classic Thai beef salad, which - be warned - packs a serious chilli punch! However it was balanced out by the fresh mint and tangy dressing - a really great salad. We finished with a red duck curry, which was served atop a single tealight candle - unnecessary but a gorgeous way of serving the dish! It had some incredible flavour and really hit the spot, however a dash more duck and a splash less liquid would have made it an "I'm ordering this every time" kinda dish. The perfect spot if you're after an easy after-work dinner.

I went for a dish called Pad Ped Yang from the hot plate section of the menu with a coconut rice. The dish had duck (cooked beautifully) and veggies. There wasn't as much flavour to the dish as I'd hoped but was still enjoyable. Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant itself was very busy for mid week (always a good sign) and I loved the Photos of Thailand on the walls. Loved the sign in the toilet door too (see photo). It made me feel like I was in Thailand again with the poorly translated signs I'll go back to the restaurant and try a fish dish or curry next time I think.

And, most amazing of all, it's rarely crowded. Two reasons. First, it's at the southern end of the strip. Second, it's actually hard to find. I've been coming here for years and I somehow managed to go past it yesterday because it's so subtly located. Now, don't just take my word that it's a great place. Chat to my companion James from last night. He's a magnificent cook. He loves it here. We both almost passed out on tasting the sheer magnificence of the red duck curry. All other dishes were wonderful too. You are in very safe hands here. The food is great. The service is wonderfully friendly. Prices are also fantastic. Bravo.
