If I do take the initiative do the weekly shop then I like to go somewhere and do a big shop for the month and get all my groceries from the one place. Tesco does it for me everytime because they carry all the basic fruits,vegetables and meat,fish and chicken I may need as well a lot of rare items which are not available at some of the smaller stores. This particular site has many rare lines like Kosher Foods,Asian Foods,Chinese Foods and Carribean Foods as well any seasonal oddities. For the famished on a Saturday the cooked chicken section is good because they do plain,herbs,lemon and many other varieties to select from.

I think I would get an obscure recipe book and cook every dish in it as I could just pop down in my pyjamas to Tesco to get whatever peculiar ingredient the recipe demanded. The store is pretty large, speciating in organic, quality products, with the prices to match. They did also have a nice selection of ready to eat food, however, I did find the selection for people with allergies, such as myself to have limited choice. The store had a nice feel to it, they did have some tables outside for those wishing to grab and go. I would say having more staff on the shop floor to help find items and explain some of their products, as well as having some more seating/tables inside would be handy, although I admit it isn't exactly a cafe/restauraunt in regards to the latter. The store was well stocked, which is admittedly quite impressive, given the current climate where the country is facing mass food shortages. 4* - A fairly pleasant store, much better than Sainsbury's nearby but still falls short in terms of Marks and Spencer.

This branch of Waitrose is located on the Ground floor of Westfield Shopping Centre, and is easily…read moreaccessed through the fact that you can go into Westfield and get into the store straight away, when walking up from near Shepherd's Bush Station, the House of Fraser and Carluccio's, they recently removed the option to enter on street level and this door is now security alarmed, which makes it slightly awkward considering this door is used for wheelchair access, as on my recent visit the lift wasn't working. The overall store isn't as large, or simply as nice as other Waitrose branches, including the one inside the other Westfield mall in Stratford City. The staff didn't seem too friendly or helpful either, other than one member of staff, who I can only presume is the Supervisor, or perhaps the only one with real training and experience. The overall selection in-store either for items such as newspapers and free-from wasn't great, highlighting just two of the many areas where the items stocked or simply the quantity of items stocked were an issue. They did have similar Waitrose offers here for loyalty card members for any store, even those I'm used to in Manchester, such as through getting the free hot drink if you make a purchase and a free newspaper when spending over £10, but still the issue that arose for me was the lack of places to pick up that free beverage, with the only obvious place being the cafe which had such a large queue, hence there should be more options and places to pick this up. The store seemed slightly inconvenient getting in and out of without the lift, and the staff were not aware it wasn't working which is frustrating, so improving the accessibility of this store is a must, as well as selection and service in certain areas, the overall layout of the store also seemed to be curved, angled, hard to navigate so sadly for me I feel this Waitrose store deserves a single one-star rating.

The store is relatively large (25,000 sq ft, so I'm told) for an in-town branch, and - in addition to the normal product range - features a myriad of fresh food counters, including ones for meat and fish, a bakery, a delicatessen, and salad, cheese and olive counters. One novel feature is a stand-up eating area with high tables where you can buy fresh products and eat them in-store, New York style. I have to say eating while standing up is not my cup of tea, so we'll have to see if others catch on to this. I'm also rather puzzled as to why they have included a supermarket in such a large shopping centre: I can't see anyone wanting to go fashion shopping weighed down with groceries, nor have the energy to go to the supermarket once they've walked around the miles of gleaming corridors above. On my visit, Waitrose seemed distinctly quiet (on a Friday afternoon), but maybe it's just a matter of time. The only downer is its location, which can be a little tricky to find unless you arrive from the Central/Overground stations: basically, it's in the basement below the House of Fraser store at the very south east corner of the site. The store also provides a packing, carry-to-car and delivery service (not to be sniffed at if you've seen the size of Westfield's car park).

If you go on a Saturday just go prepared to be knocked into, stepped on and all around pushed around. The worst part is that most of the people knocking into you (when obviously you are invisible) are staff members. Don't get me wrong I am there so much there are some people that know me. There are some friendly helpful folks in here. I am really glad it is a Sainsburys and not a Tesco. The quality it typically very good. I just think that someone needs to put another big grocery store somewhere in the vicinity because there are enough shoppers to support another store.

I had hoped to pick up a snack on my way over to a friend's house banking on one of the main chains along the High Street. M&S was already closed and Tesco had one of its fridge meltdowns (this seems to happen all over town in Summer, but that's another story). Luckily I remembered As Nature Intended from a previous visit and was happy to find an exciting selection of unusual yet healthy snacks. I opted for delicious looking ice cream mochi balls - they turned out to just as tasty as they looked. I don't think I'll be making a special journey as Chiswick really is quite out of the way, but waiting for the next excuse to venture out West. Much better than Wholefoods!

They slowly introduced other areas within their grocery, like Green Baby clothes (previously reviewed by moi), and an extensive natural remedies department with expert advice on hand to help treat any ailment. My husband suffers from eczema and he has tried many things in the past, they recommended a balm that has worked wonders, the dryness is less visible and according to him the itching has diminished. As Nature Intended, really feels like walking into Nature, it smells fresh, clean and natural, staff are pin pointed everywhere. Funny story, I thought I was going a bit mental when I saw one of the staff on one aisle and as I turned to the next aisle she was there again! How did she get there? I slowly came to realize, when one of the girls stood next to the other, they were twins! Really nice girls and helpful. Don't be surprised about the prices, just remember you are paying for a healthier lifestyle, free of chemicals and pesticides.
