What else: Absolutely lovely people and they came all the way to NY from Aussieland! This is my first ever review in Australia, so g'day to all of you in the land of Oz. I was extremely impressed that the cuties from King Of The Wings flew all the way around the world to Buffalo to take part in the Wing Festival. I hope they liked Buffalo. Talking to them was a real pleasure, but the shocker was that their wings, and crazy sauces, were actually better than a lot of the Buffalo places. The wings were actually hot (well done) and the sauces - especially the crazy fluorescent radioactive bright orange one - were tasty, if a little different from what I'm used to. It was a very long line (over 20 mins to get wings) but it was very worth it. They were the best wings I had at the wing festival, and when I finally get to Australia, I'm going to come here.

I don't know how I ever missed this place in previous visits, especially being an unmissable yellow stand with attention-grabbing signage and flavoursome pictures of their product. Their product is of course Hot Dogs and the concept is simple. 5 different Hot Dogs to choose from (hence the name "5 Dogs"), the NYC dog, the Chilli Dog, the German Dog, the Beef'n'Gravy dog, and the Snack Dog. There's also a selection of "sides" to choose from; fries, cheese fries, poutine, nachos, "sausage on a stick", as well as "extras", just in case you didn't have enough sauce, or want more sausage. All Hot Dogs are $8 except for the Snack Dog, which is $6. I decided to go for the Combo ($11.50) NYC which includes fries and your choice of soft drink. So what's to like? The service is great, especially the girl "Aa-mee" who served us. Everything is fresh, made to order and very tasty. The NYC Dog was as flavoursome as it looked, caramelised onions, mayo, tomato sauce, and delivered on their promise of "100% top grade meat". Just perfect for those days you want to give your body extra calories it doesn't need and junk out. Tables and chairs outside are helpful if your talents aren't walking and eating. I like that their menu offers a "vegan sausage" and that all their meat is preservative and gluten free for those who need that option. Despite this, I can't help but feel as though something is missing. Perhaps, its the size of the bun (slightly bigger than a 6inch sub), or the fact that I know for $11.50 there's a ton of other food options in the mall. Overall, 5 Dogs is well placed to meet the needs of the hungry masses, especially on weekends, after a big night out! Admittedly, I'd be one of them :)

If you're coming up from Elizabeth Street, stick to the left side of the thoroughfare. Beware the dreaded peak lunch hour, though, you might need a buddy to table-hunt while you order. Ambience *** While I hate crowded places, I have to admit, the handful of tables and chairs directly left of Greenbean is PERFECT for me as they were only half full around peak hour meaning they're easily missed by those looking directly into the main table maze. There's a crowd of people hanging around and you don't know if they're waiting to order, waiting for food, waiting for friends, and that's partly because there's no glaring sign saying 'Order here'; the cashier is the only obvious service point, so my advice is to just walk right up to the other end of the tall glass benchtop and wait for someone to serve. Which they will, pretty quickly. I got the feeling, watching like a noob while hubby ordered, that I should figure out which of the hundred or so fillings I wanted in my salad because it looked like a tornado of activity behind the benches. The ingredients are all displayed behind glass (think along the lines of Subway) so you can see what you're going to get, just make sure you check both sides or ask if you don't see something you want. The staff have VERY smartly opted for tong service, meaning they never have to rip off or pull on gloves, and your food is selected and tossed by stainless steel instead of grubby hands. Service *** Watching what hubby ordered, I turned my order into a mantra in my head because these guys are very fast; I was already feeling like I was in the middle of a salad-marathon nightmare and when it was my turn to be served I spilled the beans in one long stream of ingredients. Luckily, the server was ready for my panicked verbal diarrhea and got my order spot on. He even asked me 'is that enough chicken?'. Who does that?? The food turnaround is high here, so don't expect to grow a relationship with your server unless you maybe arrive early in the morning or later in the afternoon. They're all business in the middle of lunch. Except the cashier, who seemed pretty relaxed compared to his busy comrades. Food **** While on the menu, there are 8 or so 'salads', the fun part of Greenbean is to create your own from the selection in front of you. I opted for a baby spinach base, plain chicken, mushrooms, celery, boiled egg, greenbeans (of course!) and balsamic dressing. While in retrospect I needed something salty to counter the somewhat bland taste, for around $9-, I got a good amount of all the fillings and didn't finish and took the rest back to work. Hubby wanted me to note that anchovies are part of the caesar and you don't pay extra, and as with mine, he was asked if he'd been given enough. The salad tasted fresh, the spinach, beans, and celery crisp, the egg boiled right and the mushrooms mushroomy. The chicken was a bit 'wet' in texture, but better that than dry. The balsamic cut right through everything, and although it was seasoned with S&P, there wasn't enough salt in it to cut through the balsamic. Which is my fault, because it was my own creation. Note to Jen: next time add bacon. Everything's better with bacon. I saw on the menu you can also get your salad as a wrap. I'm not sure what the price difference is, but I'm sure you couldn't smush all that food into one wrap (unless they have magic hands... and they just might). You can order a drink (check the corner of the outlet for the display), but the choice is a bit limited. I think I paid $1- for a bottle of water - not bad at all, considering how inflated bottled water prices can be. Dessert is Greek yoghurt, in small to large sizes in a few different flavours. IF you can fit it in. Additional Notes I really urge anyone who wants to visit Greenbean to check out the website. If you order your lunch online before 10am, you get 35% extra at no extra charge and you don't have to worry about how busy it is when you pick-up. Also check online for promotions, or pick up a flyer at the cashier when you visit. If the guys have a few seconds here or there, I would suggest either slowing down on service a touch, OR making that endless bounding energy into 'fun' energy with some tong-flare, or in-staff joking. It just looked like they need an injection of chilled happy into their hyper activity to keep their customers from getting caught up in the hurried atmosphere.

Before Guzman Y Gomez, the only Mexican that I have ever had (and I am literally kicking myself while writing this!) is Taco Truck, which is actually quite awesome... So we walked in a queued and all of a sudden it came to me - Hang on.. Mexican Food is spicy, right? Oh oh.. Kevin and Spicy DO NOT mix!.. Turn around and walk away mate.. before it's too late.. Non non.. I want Mexican.. I'm gonna be ok! So I got to the line and was greeted with a warm Hola by the waitress.. Awesome.. I went for the Chicken Guerrero Burrito (You promise it's not spicy yeah?!), which got to me pretty quickly and it was brilliant! - Love it! Love it! Love it! I also had a mandarin Jarrito - I don't know but I just thought it felt Mexican... I had to return and try the Barramundi Burrito before I left Brissie and so I did.. Ay, Caramba!!! And why not? these burgers are possibly the largest, most filling, & arguably most succulent burgers in town. Getta Burger is all about big flavours & insanely big burgers. There's no "gourmet" fancy scshhmancy pants here, just in your face, lets-get-messy, you're-going-to-cop-the-fat, but-be-back-for-more juicy goodness. Getta burger grinds & smokes their own meat, & make all their special sauces. The menu is uncomplicated, ranging from pulled pork, beef brisket, regular beef pattys, and nothing is over $15. They all sound so tantalising too, that you may just frustrate the counter staff with your indecisiveness. We ended up going with the: (1) "Getta Boss" ($14) - 12 hour smoked beef brisket, crispy bacon, double cheese, pickle, jalapenos & "That BBQ Sauce". (2) "Getta Beef Brisket" ($11), 12 hour smoked beef brisket, slaw, pickle, "That BBQ Sauce", & cheese. These babies are Monstrous! Basically, you can cut the burgers in half, & save some the next morning for lunch. Both burgers seem to have the right balance of flavours, moisture and texture, and hits all the right spots. We also ordered fries but it was the seasoning of their "own smoked salt dust" that stood out. Not sure how they've come up with that seasoning, but we were licking it off our fingers. Getta Burger is probably more suited to take-away rather than eating-in, as the space is limited & there's probably not enough seating to accommodate the hordes of burger lovers flocking to this part of town. Also noticed the girl on the grill looked about 17-18 which surprised me as brisket and other items on the menu are easy to get wrong without enough experience on the grill. Might explain the inconsistency I've had in quality of food when ordering from here previously. At this stage I dont really see a point coming back to eat at this franchise sadly.
