They answered every question honestly and thoroughly without sugar coating anything which I greatly appreciated. Dr. Marilou Yap-Tan was very gentle and conservative. During my consultation Dr. Marilou patiently discussed all of my questions and addressed my concerns. She made me feel comfortable and reviewed how she would address each issue. At the end of the consultation, she told me that, since cauterization would be very painful, I should try a home treatment first. She carefully wrote every step and included the prescription too. After seeing me, I was expecting a hefty sum to pay for the consultation. So, I was very surprised when her assistant told me that I only had to pay Php500. Gatan for a check-up. While I had less time going to her for my acne problems, I realized that the few times I did, I always felt taken good care of. From her receptionists to her nurses to Dra. Gatan herself, I have always felt secured whenever I visit. The same goes for my sister. I mean, she's been going to Dra. Gatan since she was 16 and they've gotten so close that she even took Dra. Gatan as one of her godmothers during her wedding. What I also love about Dra. Gatan is how meticulous she is with her patients. But that doesn't go to say that she prescribes creams, soaps or medicines that are ridiculously pricey. In fact, she either tells you to use whatever good brands are in the market or buy her own stuff! Dra. Gatan's line of creams, which I use as my night moisturizer, is actually cheaper than other leading brands. She also has a wonderful sunblock cream that my sister and I swear by. We went to Clinica Manila and scheduled an appointment with their dermatologist. The nurses were really nice and they were more than happy to answer all of our questions regarding the clinic. When my turn finally came, I met Dr. Claire Palabyab. She told me that what I had was just a mild form of Atopic dermatitis (DON'T GOOGLE THIS), a type of skin asthma that makes your skin really dry. She gave me Corticosteroid cream to prevent inflammation. It took about one whole week for my legs to fully recover. The topical cream was like a miracle medicine. My AD lead to scarring and I didn't wear shorts for a whole year to cover my "peklat". Good thing Clinica Manila sells their own bleaching lotion and salicylic acid that helped in the removal of my scars. They also have very reliable and efficient doctors that are always willing to help people.

It was only when I went to VMV that I found something that worked for me. Dr. Verallo (VMV herself) suggested that I be treated with ultraviolet light phototherapy. Since I had nothing to lose, and was honestly dying to find a solution, I decided to try it out. During the session, a wand-like instrument that emitted UV rays was held up against my skin for a couple of minutes. I didn't feel anything during this entire time. I honestly thought nothing was happening, but after a few sessions, I noticed how my psoriasis slowly lessened. I was adviced to do at least 30 sessions to see significant results. As i finished my 30th session, I can proudly say that the treatment worked on me. I wasn't completely cleared, but my psoriasis was less noticeable and I felt better inside and out. Based on my account, she immediately knew that iIwas suffering from an allergy from the pollutants/elements that were in the air due to New Year's celebrations and my extensive exposure to second-hand cigarette smoke (I'm allergic).
