This is even more amazing when you consider the fact that these patients have really the WORST skin condition ever: think of cystic acne so bad that you cannot literally see any clear inch of space on that person's face. In a matter of weeks, Dr. Ty would be consistently making noticeable improvement. I'm no derma but it seems that Dr. Ty has a magic hand when dealing with acne because he treats it from an entirely medical perspective, unlike other so-called hacks who are too preoccupied with pushing commercial creams and lotions. They answered every question honestly and thoroughly without sugar coating anything which I greatly appreciated. Dr. Marilou Yap-Tan was very gentle and conservative. During my consultation Dr. Marilou patiently discussed all of my questions and addressed my concerns. She made me feel comfortable and reviewed how she would address each issue. At the end of the consultation, she told me that, since cauterization would be very painful, I should try a home treatment first. She carefully wrote every step and included the prescription too. After seeing me, I was expecting a hefty sum to pay for the consultation. So, I was very surprised when her assistant told me that I only had to pay Php500. My use of the word "like" to describe a hospital is remarkable in itself, because generally I cannot say that I like hospitals. I mean, who does? But, I had my first-hand experience being confined here last year when I came down with dengue. I got myself a double room. It's cheaper because it's meant for sharing, but it's roomier than a single room, and I requested that they put me in one that's unoccupied, so it still feels like I have the room all to myself. Unfortunately, I got myself a roommate the day after because there was an inexplicable surge in dengue cases that day. Good thing my roomie found a room the following day, because a day later, my brother would join me. I needed transfusion, and in this hospital, if you can provide enough qualified donors, you won't be charged for the blood anymore, whereas other hospitals would charge you for the sourcing of the donors plus the processing of the blood (extraction of the platelet). Also, the food is not bad. In fact, the food is quite edible. They even give you your own personal utensils. I found out that MCM recently transferred ownership and was undergoing renovations, which explained the nicer facade and new wing. It's a given that hospitals are unpleasant places, but MCM is definitely one of my choices for good medical care for its patients.
