Both sides of the street are lined with small restaurants and bars. Dining is outside or inside. The pub at the White Star offers a good selection of drinks and a nice menu. The rooms vary by size and occupy the 3 floors above the pub/restaurant. All are accessed by a staircase, if you have large bags, they can store them for you. Our rooms have always been very nicely furnished an immaculately clean. There's a coffee maker, and water boiler, tea, sugar etc as well. Air conditioning is adequate, the water pressure is good and the towels big and fluffy. The staff are welcoming and attentive.

The inn feels like an old ocean liner from the early 1900s without the opulence found later. Some of the rooms are named after former ocean liners, and thus named the White Star now for England's most famous line, owners of the Titanic and many others, now called Cunard. We had a delightful dinner. It has a pub atmosphere but a bit more upscale as a restaurant or tavern. To celebrate we got a bottle of the sparkling wine from Kent. It was quite good and went well with the meal I ordered a pheasant croquette on a bed of peas and Brussels sprouts. It was excellent My main was the chicken dish which was very well prepared and delicious. The sauce was good and the preparation better than expected for this type of establishment. The portions are substantial and I was quite full and unable to have a dessert. The waitstaff are cordial and really hustle when the crowd appears.
