Mariko is the BEST! This review is long overdue. My family moved into our home 2 years ago and it was fully furnished from the previous owner. The house was built as a Spanish Moroccan style and the furniture and chandeliers were chosen to match but it was all too dark with lots of red and gold for me. A bit too medieval and "themey". Anyways, I was pregnant and was expecting our son soon so I needed help with the baby room. I also have a stepdaughter and we wanted her to enjoy her room as well since she was about to turn 10. Mariko came by, took notes on what my stepdaughter liked and we also sent her photos of the styles of rooms we liked so she had an idea how to design it. I ended up having my son early and it happened to be the day Mariko was finishing the rooms. When I returned from the hospital couldn't have asked for a better surprise! The baby's room and stepdaughter's room looked like something from a magazine. I felt amazing being in their rooms that I figured I wanted to also feel good in my room. So, what the heck, let's have her redo the whole house! She came back and we tried to keep all the furniture pieces that we liked to also save money. She did our living room, dining room, family room and study room. Everything came out PERFECT! She kept the Spanish Moroccan style but made it more modern. She did an amazing job fulfilling all of our requests while working with a very awkward layout and incorporating things that were important to us (like having a comfortable space for me to study at.) Being in the middle of a global pandemic- we did everything virtually which was amazing and convenient. She sent over a couple of different options that fit our style and provided us with everything that we needed to purchase the items (direct links, where to buy plants, & recommendations for many different things). I get complements all the time on our apartment and I am already considering enlisting her help once again as we are moving up in our building. I've never worked with an interior designer before, and after working with Mariko, she most definitely will be the ONLY one I work with going forward! I'm a small town Texas boy that's stuck in his ways when it comes to home decor. My girlfriend moved in last Summer and wanted to change things up. I resisted and then came the arguments. After weeks of us "trying" to shop together to figure out what we could both live with, I suggested we get an interior decorator to help us. That's when I found Mariko, and the rest is history! Mariko quickly scheduled a FREE, in-home consultation. We explained our situation and ideas, she gave us a run down of different options we could choose from. She also sent us an official quote that same night with all the specifics and scope of the project detailed for us! (For the record, she agreed with me more when it came to decor ideas, and that's a FACT! haha!) After that, it's pretty easy, Mariko keeps in contact every step of the way and let's you know what's next. Not only does Mariko design and decorate but she can also source specific materials/furniture for ideas you may have. Most of the items needed for our project was found locally in Los Angeles, but we did end up ordering a new coffee table as well as side tables for our living room. Mariko and her team delivered the items and set them up for us as well. In addition to everything else I've mentioned, Mariko is also a part time crisis counselor. I'm joking, but there was a situation where I almost had a panic attack the night before the painters came to paint our accent wall. My girlfriend wanted an accent wall and Mariko suggested with what we had, a light turquoise color would be a nice pop of color. My girlfriend loves the idea but at the last minute, I wanted to keep it safe with a basic gray. Mariko talked me into giving it a shot and promised me I'd love it afterwards..... I did! Wow, where do I even begin... Mariko is quite literally a life saver. I had to move from a 2 bedroom in Hollywood to a small 1 bedroom space in West Hollywood, and had a total of 2-3 days to have everything set up in the new space. This was my first time owning a solo space, so I wanted it to be everything I ever imagined, and to be a sanctuary from my hectic life, but I had absolutely no idea where to even begin designing an apartment. Besides one piece of furniture, I owned absolutely nothing. No furniture, no decorations, no electronics, nothing. Mariko was able to coordinate the entire project from start to finish, with flawless execution and timing. I had over 3 deliveries of furniture, etc., a strict move-in date, and a very picky (sorry Mariko!) aesthetic in mind. The first time I stepped into the space after Mariko was done, I literally had no words. The space took my breath away, and was completely unrecognizable, and I finally felt like I had a home. You could absolutely tell that Mariko took this project to heart, and put so much time and effort into every single detail. She stopped short of absolutely nothing to make sure I loved the space, and that includes running across every corner of town to find decor that I liked. Mariko works wonders! As an individual who had never worked with an interior designer before, I was a bit nervous about the process and the costs associated with it. Additionally, I was visiting LA for the holidays and had a tight timeline for the project to be completed. I first called Mariko on December 20 and let her know that I was interested in adding some color and rearranging furniture in the living room. Due to the tight deadline she scheduled the free consultation via phone; I sent her a video and pictures of the living room on the 21st. On the 24th, she stopped by in person with color palates to choose from and to take measurements for new furniture I was adding in. On the 26th the painter stopped by and on the 28th Mariko delivered the furniture and rearranged the living to complete the project. She not only worked quickly during the holiday season (!), she was also very attentive, was respectful of the budget we had proposed and - most importantly - was kind and professional throughout the entire process. We always had a say in the final decision and our thoughts and opinions were always welcomed. We absolutely love the living room now. It feels so welcoming and homey.
