So we arrive 20 minutes before the 5:10 pm start time and there was no one at the registers... I mean three people waiting to purchase tickets but no one there at all. So we walk right into line to get popcorn and pretzels which cost $48...what? YES $48! that's $13 more than the tickets cost. I have no words. Moving on, we spot a manager at the desk behind the counters and ask where to scan our tickets. Matt was very polite and scanned our tickets and directed us to the correct theater. Here's where the fun begins. Even been a captive audience? Like on a plane or train? Same thing here!! The commercials started at 5 PM, then at 5:12 pm the trailers started and continued for 30 more minutes!! So we sat though nearly 45 minutes of commercials and trailers while we enjoyed our $50 of popcorn and pretzel bites. So, in conclusion, nearly $100 to see a good movie. Love the big screen, no idea why the sound is at 100 db... my wife brought and used ear plugs!! And we are not old by any measure!! Once in a while is cool, but not the whole movie!! The money I get... you're all greedy fu***. But you will never take my time again, or my wife's, or my children's, if I have any say in it. 45 minutes of captive commercials and trailers... Would I sit through this anyplace else, Absolutely not! Well you went way, way over board for this family. So, you'll never see us in your theater again. However, the other day I was feeling much better and mustered up the energy to finally see Wicked For Good. I always drive past this theatre when I'm running errands, and it's actually the closest theatre to my house. So, I figured it was time to test this place out. I came without purchasing a ticket in advance. First thing I like about this theatre is you can purchase your ticket on the kiosk. You select your movie, then you select what type of seat you want- a standard recliner or a cuddlier seat. It was just me so I selected the recliner which was $7.95. I do like the idea of the cuddlier sofa though, that's super cute for couples. However, when I tried to pick where I wanted to sit only one seat was available to book. Which was very surprising to me because the theater wasn't that full and the movie has been out for months now. Thinking it was a glitch of the kiosk, I went to the counter to purchase tickets. Then I saw the screen where I could pick my seat and again there was only one seat I could pick. So I picked that seat thinking the theater wasn't going to be jammed packed (spoiler it wasn't). So, that's the only thing I was confused about. Why were seats block off when the theater wasn't full. Other than this mishap I really enjoyed my experience here. Luckily my seat ended up being a decent seat and it was exceptionally comfortable. There was a red button you could push which I assumed was a seat warmer, I pushed it but I didn't notice any changes in the temperature of my seat. For food I got a medium sprite and a large popcorn. It costs me about $18. Which is typical. I will say next time I'll order a medium popcorn, the large was so big I wasn't able to finish it before the movie was over! All in all this is a very solid theater. Very friendly employees, seats are comfortable and clean, oh and I forgot to mention they have a bar. So that's pretty cool. I can definitely see myself returning here again!

To start with, the theater is in DIRE need of renovation. The screens are huge, but the seats are dilapidated and the floors are concrete. The overall look makes it seem like a dollar theater in a shady neighborhood. Even the sign outside is missing lights. As far as the movies, most of the time the theaters are empty, even on nights when it's only $5 for any show (Wednesday). The sound and picture quality is adequate, if you can get over the uncomfortable seats. The other unfortunate thing is that the latest movies are at 7pm. Makes it really difficult to do dinner and movie when the last show is at 7pm. The other issue the popcorn. Despite the fact that it's only $5 for a large with free refills, it's always burned. If you are willing to go back and forth, all the sizes of popcorn and drinks all have free refills which is nice. Overall, I think the town of Beloit deserves a better theater. It sucks to have to drive to Rockford to watch a movie, especially if you want to go to a show at night.

Further, the main auditorium is spectacular, one of a kind, and is frequently recognized as one of the most beautiful showpieces in the country, with a flawless restoration under the direction of the general manager, but wit one twist, beautifully comfortable recliner seats that are easy to maintain, and hygein friendly. What a wonderful experience it has been to attend this lovely theatre that is a treasure of McHenry County. I often purchase tickets for children to see a lovely film for only 2.00 in the summer, and all reports are the same, clean theater, spotless and high quality concessions and an attentive and safe environment for people of all ages. They have a combo meal for a large popcorn + 2 medium drinks, and you can upgrade to an ICEE if you'd like. For two adults with our tickets and combo and a bag of M&Ms on opening weekend for this movie, the total was around $40. For the quality of the items you receive and the luxury you have in the theater, it's WELL worth this price, and dare I say, it might be cheap?
