Group views from The Battle of the Brunches w: the Jr League of Rochester Event

Ah...The Arbor Loft.. this can space can be transformed into the event of your dreams. I could see someone of Colin Cowie caliber going for it seriously and doing it up.. this is what I would like to see a COMPLETE TRANSFORMATION. But you can have a hell of a good time making this space your own see the photos on the site. This space what you can do there basically is no limits. Now I've been here for Yoga, Becoming Boss, La Femme Expo and The Battle of the Brunches with the Jr League of Rochester. Each event different but it always had a slightly different feel. It's above Harts Local Grocery. They have their own entrance, an elevator to go up to the second floor (stairs too) and a walk down to the venue. It's light and airy, now listen it's in a converted building the floors are wood it's a massive space. Now some have said it gets too hot or too cold or whatever... it's like anything it's all about asking questions and if you have issues the owner Agathi is more than accommodating to answer if not her she has an assistant. It's all about what you want to do... now the only slight issue is this.. Parking now you cannot park at Harts or 2Vine it's either street parking or they will have a sign up for an event letting you know you can park st the NYS Teachers Retirement Systems Building. Ok yea it's a pain but it could be worse.. now for the short term if you park across from the venue at the retirement systems lot you have to basically walk thru the finishing off of the inner loop it is what it is.. it's short term. Do what I do cause I get all high maintenance have someone drop you off at the front door. Problem solved.. when the inner loop is finally finished no worries. Now I have solutions for you kids... Now I hear... maybe sometime soon roof access?! You never know.. it would light this place up and everyone would want an event here. I'm guessing food wise for a wedding you would have to bring food and etc in you are using the space. If you ever have a chance to come here check it out for yourself and let me know what you think. The owner is lovely, smart and knows her business. As someone from Chicago if this was in Chicago or NYC this venue would be mad expensive. Cheers!

The server was friendly. The bad: they were woefully understaffed. It seems like there was one server for the entire restaurant including two large parties. Ours was one of those parties. Our reservation was at 6:15. We were seated quickly but did not see a server for at least 30 minutes after. It took at least another 30 minutes to get half of our drinks, another 15 to get the other half, and another 30 to get appetizers. When our main dishes came out, some were not very hot, the crab fried rice was missing crab, but the rest of the dishes were good. After appetizers, dinner and dessert we left the restaurant about 2.5 hours after arriving. I'd try this restaurant again because the food and drinks were good but it's probably best to go with a smaller party.

I had a lovely time at the Alexander restaurant. I came on a Thursday night with a group of six and…read moreyou didn't make a reservation. However, the restaurant was pretty empty. Service was friendly and the weight staff checked on us a lot. I ordered the Caesar salad with french fries the garlic stuffed bread, and we tried to the spiritless cocktails on the menu. The food was delicious and I have no complaints there. However, the spiritless cocktails left a lot to be desired. I would probably come back here again.

The location is on Gibbs Street, right across from the Eastman Theater. It's located in a large building that has part of the Eastman school inside. The foyer/lobby is huge and it over looks a nice park. The restaurant itself isn't that large but a nice cozy space, decorated in gray/white with art prints. Our server was lovely and we were well attended. It gets a bit noisy with the bar but not too bad. The specials were plentiful. We ended up having the clam appetizer which was spectacular. Just a really hearty dish we could share. Clam broth was just divine. My husband had the duck which was cooked perfectly and I had a haddock dinner that was the best fish I've eaten in a long time. It was on top of roasted veg and topped with a relish. Really amazing. Price points were higher for the entries but to be honest, worth every penny.

It's inside a building complex and feels more like a hotel restaurant than a stand alone. Our server was wonderful. The appetizers - bread, Camembert cheese, French onion, beet salad - were delicious. I ordered the special: crab stuffed trout wrapped in bacon and enjoyed it, but, while I was in the restroom my boyfriend overheard a member of the kitchen staff talking about how it is common practice at this restaurant to take the "fish that is getting older" and "wrap it in bacon and stuff it with crab." Absolutely not what I wanted to hear after eating most of my dinner. The complaining by this staff member continued after I returned & just made us eager to leave. It's unfortunate that this happened because the food was pretty enjoyable.
