First and foremost, they have clean restrooms. As you enter the store, you are greeted by one of their many greeters. No sneaking into the bathroom without someone saying "Hi" to you. They have lots of stuff on display. The aquariums were great to look at with the various fish on display. They had the African safari area. They have lots of fishing and hunting clothes and supplies for sale. They know how to prolong your pit stop. It's a great place to stop at. The only thing they didn't have were West Virginia refrigerator magnets for crazy road trip tourists like me. After leaving, I found a Kohl's around the corner. Cabela's is much better than Kohl's anytime!

Obviously that last bit is pretty general, but I find the statement helpful overall since it does a great job of summarizing what kinds of gear you'll find at their shop. No matter your experience level, you're welcome here, as the staff want to help people of all experience levels explore and access different outdoor activities. In other words: this is the perfect place to browse and ask questions that can help you best prepare for your next/new adventure. In addition to operating a storefront, the 3 Rivers staff also regularly coordinate outdoor events and activities that people can sign up for. Naturally some activities are more seasonal than others (looking at you, kayaking!). Others happen year-round, including monthly night hikes in Frick Park. It's a shame this shop is currently so far out of my way, because if I was closer I'd probably stop in more often, even if only to take advantage of their community fireside hours. He brought out a few pair in men's sizes but didn't seem to have too many in women's sizes. When it comes to purchasing gloves you just can't go by the measurements of your hand. My salesman was kind enough to let me try on a few for fit and I was able to get my correct size. I found that the pair I wanted wasn't available in the store in a women's size so he ended up ordering it online for me. What made it nice was that the store price was cheaper than the online price so he price matched that for me. Dick's does do price matching if you see something somewhere else. They carry all types of sporting goods for all seasons as well as clothes, shoes, and sporting goods accessories. My battery operated heated gloves has a two month return window on them which will give me an opportunity to see how they work in cold weather. Located in the mall of Robinson they have their own parking lot.
