They carry something for the whole family, even the dogs! Highly recommend stopping in before your next adventure or just to browse around. They have many weekly and monthly events for the community. A fire pit out front that makes a great hangout spot to eat and grab a bottle from next door. They host film fests and special annual events like a chili cook off, 5 points adventure film fest, a gear swap and so much more!

They sell both new and used outdoor equipment, as well as maintain a calendar of various community events that people can and should take advantage of. On their website the group talks about being particularly focused on helping Pittsburgh climbers, hikers, bikers, runners, campers, paddlers, and "outdoor adventure lovers." Obviously that last bit is pretty general, but I find the statement helpful overall since it does a great job of summarizing what kinds of gear you'll find at their shop. No matter your experience level, you're welcome here, as the staff want to help people of all experience levels explore and access different outdoor activities. In other words: this is the perfect place to browse and ask questions that can help you best prepare for your next/new adventure. In addition to operating a storefront, the 3 Rivers staff also regularly coordinate outdoor events and activities that people can sign up for. Naturally some activities are more seasonal than others (looking at you, kayaking!). Others happen year-round, including monthly night hikes in Frick Park. It's a shame this shop is currently so far out of my way, because if I was closer I'd probably stop in more often, even if only to take advantage of their community fireside hours. Still, it's great that they're here in the city at all - and it just makes my rare visits that much more delightful and special!

WAY different vibe than different similar branded stores, in a good way! Everyone was super helpful and knowledgeable, and even though they didn't have what I was looking for this trip I will totally be back next time I have something in mind. They had popular brands like Yeti, Vuori, North Face, etc. and when I visited they had clothing items 25% off so I would call before going to ask if a specific item you are looking for may be on sale!

The layout definitely reminded me of a Dick's Sporting Goods store. Everything was pretty pricey, as expected from name-brand outdoor gear, such as The North Face, Columbia, and Patagonia. I learned that you can actually rent all sorts of gear, including tents, sleeping bags, snowboards, bikes and kayaks. They also offer classes/events, mostly focused on rock climbing for now. I do feel that their climbing rates were a bit high for the limited space that they have. Their climbing wall has only 5 vertical routes with a very small bouldering area, and they charge ~$20 for one hour. As an avid indoor rock climber, I would recommend visiting one of Pittsburgh's climbing gyms instead. Their day passes cost ~$20 as well, and you can climb for as long as you like. I see the benefit of having the wall for trying on climbing shoes if you're looking to buy, but not so much for recreational purposes.

We also found a camelback, and leggings that were on sale. The leggings and camelback were on sale, and very affordable. Some of the other regularly priced items were a little expensive but the brands offered were mostly known to be good dependable products. Some of the brands I am unfamiliar with. The employees were abound and I think 4-6 asked me in a short time if I was finding everything. The cashier was quick, and kind. Overall I would absolutely return here for my athletic items. I would say that their selection of head gear for women was limited.

This location is on two levels and when someone asked me what I wanted I was directed to a sales man to help me. In this case I needed heated gloves. He brought out a few pair in men's sizes but didn't seem to have too many in women's sizes. When it comes to purchasing gloves you just can't go by the measurements of your hand. My salesman was kind enough to let me try on a few for fit and I was able to get my correct size. I found that the pair I wanted wasn't available in the store in a women's size so he ended up ordering it online for me. What made it nice was that the store price was cheaper than the online price so he price matched that for me. Dick's does do price matching if you see something somewhere else. They carry all types of sporting goods for all seasons as well as clothes, shoes, and sporting goods accessories. My battery operated heated gloves has a two month return window on them which will give me an opportunity to see how they work in cold weather. Located in the mall of Robinson they have their own parking lot.
