I just met with Rachel Long today to discuss plans for my new logo and paper trail branding for my business, Nancy Rothstein Photography. (shameless plug...wait for it....www.nancyrothstein.com) I was referred to Rachel by fabulous Bay Area and beyond photographers Gene Higa and Ann Hamilton. Based on the awesome logos and other design work she did for them, I was very excited at the prospect of hiring her to do some work for me. Rachel doesn't have a website, and frankly, she doesn't need one. The quality of the samples of her work that I have seen in addition to the samples she sent me was excellent. Not only is she a fantastic designer, she successfully orchestrates her designs using a wide variety of styles to suit many different needs. I am eagerly awaiting the first round of comps for my new logo...I'll keep you posted. The easiest job to get and yet somehow the hardest to keep. Multiple people struggled to meet there…read morequotas and eventually got canned. Even one on full staff was fired because of one mistake in paperwork. If you are desperate for a job, don't mind rejection on the streets and understand that you are completely dispensable then you will be fine. It seemed that even though I was a fairly good campaigner (that is, I made my donation goals) I was still kicked on my ass when I came back one day with nothing. But the main reason I'm writing a negative review is because they didn't even have the decency to fire me that day. Instead I took a vacation and one staff member called to emphasise how much they wanted me back telling me not to get discouraged. I finally come back from a wonderful vacation, semi-wishing that I didn't have work to come back to. Then once I arrived back in the office I was told in the first 5 minutes that they were letting me go because of "time fraud". Apparently the entire time I was gone they had known there we going to fire me and instead of calling me up or sending me an email they waited until I returned for work only to be told I'm unemployed. That's just messed up.
