In my county town, the Golf Club is nothing special. In fact, there is very little that differentiates it from the local Bowlo (except that the Golf grounds are considerably larger than the bowling green). Thus, the Australian Golf Club hits my small town club for six (wrong sporting reference?).
Australia's oldest club, the Australian Golf Club's grounds in Rosebery are beautiful. Their bistro is framed by glass walls that overlook these expansive green grasses and the food is well above average, the team of chefs here knowing how to please and masterfully creating spreads of fresh seafood, extravagant sushi, Mediterranean dishes, glazed hams, roasts cooked to perfection and an amazing repertoire of desserts.
The friendly and personable staff deliver outstanding service and on most visits you will be serenaded by the twinkling keys of their foyer's grand piano, played beautifully by any given member of the club.
You must be a member to enjoy these stunning grounds and that's not an easy task. Founded in 1882, The Australian Golf Club is a members only private club. Membership numbers are strictly limited and applicants must be nominated by an existing member. What's more, this exclusive membership comes at an equally exclusive price. read more
