Let Love Live was a pet rescue we came across upon looking for a second pet to join our family. We…read morecame across a small chi-weenie and fell in love. We inquired and got all our questions answered - we were a bit concerned that the pets primarily came from Texas (where dogs are overpopulated and often euthanized due to space issues) and the distance from us as we considered and hoped for a great fit. We had met our first dog in person and had time to think for a couple days after (we already knew but it was more spaced out). Let Love Live has a van that transports from Texas once you hold a dog to adopt, . We paid $25 to "hold" Cesar (now named Bruce). There was not much flexibility for pick up, you pay at pickup and technically can change your mind but there is no "meeting" prior virtually or in person. But honestly, I think that is ok and reasonable because they are literally saving SO MANY dogs, they should not do tons of extra work on top of that. And I know when inquiring on our Bruce (formerly Cesar, the staff were great but also acknowledged they are understaffed/a smaller team and can't so it all). My fiancé picked up our Bruce (formerly Cesar) at a place they shared with us they were stopping to feed and let dogs potty at. The staff were kind, there were no background checks or big applications like our other dog, and it seemed quick but this rescue saves SO many dogs, I don't believe they do a foster program which gives more time and flexibility. There is a small risk not getting to meet the dog prior. And I will say Bruce was not at his best when we brought him home - lots of mucous in his nose, reverse sneezing every couple hours, bad dandruff, etc. Within a few days, that all went away and is no longer. Totally could have been nerves and not blaming rescue. For sure if you find a prospective pet from LLL, go through with it - they might need a bit extra love but it's worth it. And these staff and owners are absolutely making a massive difference in this world and saving endless pets - it's truly incredible what they are doing!
