The menu is your typical American style restaurant, burgers, Philly cheese steaks, hot dogs, fries and chicken wings. I opted for the Philly cheese steak and some fries. This is where it goes wrong a bit, the bread was cheap cheap cheap, really fluffy and over dry and breaking up, I'd go so far as to say it may have been day old bread.... The steak was tough and overlooked but the flavour itself was quite nice. The chips were good and I was given a bit pit of Mayo. My waitress was a wee star, I just thought she was brilliant at her job and she gave brilliant customer service and she's the reason for 3 rather than 2 stars, I would have given 4 but I want to give them something to work towards, as the food must be as good as the customer service. I would return again but would have no hesitation sending back if I had the same bread issues again. They should really think of getting a local baker to produce their bread rather than buying bulk from the catering supplier.

On every Saturday night (apart from one a month, can't remember if it's the first or the last -soz) they have a club night called "department s" run by Bristol legend Jon The Mod and his lovely other half Jamie (Jamie runs the gimme shelter vintage boutique in the foyer of the venue) Jon has been playing in various bristol venues for donkey's years (ever since I can remember) he specialises in 60s Garage Beats, Northern Soul, 60's GROOVES, Rock and Roll, Two Tone, Tamla, Alt 80's, MOD and INDIE Anthems - ( I stole that bit from his website ) It's guaranteed to be a good night and quite often there will be a band playing, last week was the gimme Hendrix experience, a fantastic Jimi Hendrix tribute band, there is also a large courtyard for smokers but it's also a nice place to sit if you need to cool down a bit from all the dancing !

Well, what can I say - I've toured a lot of towns and cities in the USA and I'm a huge fan of the dive bar. This place is the closest thing to a beach / dive bar I've found in the UK, just sadly missing a bit of the dive as it was well lit, clean and my shoes didn't stick to the floor. You can bring your own dive by visiting on a wet and windy day and trying to eat outside if you're desperate though :) The range of food on the menu isn't massive, but what they do do, they do do well. Everything that the three of us in my party had there (on both visits) was great. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the beers were cold. The cocktails were excellent - visiting from London, I wasn't sure what to make of the 'liquid to ice' ratio - I'm used to a cocktail being mostly ice with a dash of £10 spirit over the top, but these ... these were cocktails that you could actually drink instead of sucking on! The view is spectacular too. Depending on the time of day, you'll get to watch stand up paddlers fall down, kite surfers touring the harbour or just watch the sailboats and navy tubs. There are dining areas at either end at tables of various sizes. Although there were several people dining we still found a quiet and comfortable place to sit. The landlady and her daughter were very pleasant and the younger girl who was serving the meals at the tables was really delightful, so friendly and helpful. My only criticisms are that the landlady forgot to make my coffee (funny that's happened to me in two pubs within a week!) and there was only one vegetarian meal on the menu/specials board, despite a huge choice for the meat eaters. There is a small car park out the front and the toilets are clean and well looked after.

The menu offers a good range of food, with something for everyone. They offer good steaks, lamb shanks (lush!), chicken in a range of sauces etc, and there's always something tempting on their specials board. There's a nice atmosphere in the pub, and they don't hurry you away from your table, if you want to sit around and chat over a drink. Families of all ages are welcome as well.
