I booked through Booksy and it was easy and flawless. I reserved the haircut + taper fade + straight razor shave, and Marcel did an exceptional job. The shave was very relaxing, including both hot and cold towels. He finished with a very nice and unique aftershave that my wife liked very much. This shop is located in the Gracia neighborhood, just a couple of blocks from the subway stop. This area is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Barcelona! Absolutely NOT touristy, with so many hidden gems -- coffee shops, pastry shops, small grocery stores, and beautiful little parks where you can sit and enjoy a cool drink. As someone who considers himself a barbershop connoisseur, frequenting The People's Barbershop in the Bay Area (SF and Oakland locations) for their fades and straight razor shave with hot towel service, I can confidently say that Shellshock is absolutely getting added to the canon of classy barbershops for me. A true barber, Vicenc Moreto has the answers to any mans hair needs. He runs a clean and well maintained establishment with his nephew Toni, right off the outskirts of Placa Universitat. Although I didnt receive a haircut from either of these two gentleman, the other barber Carlos was the next best option. Vincenc was happy enough to translate what I wanted to Carlos as he worked his shears in an almost artistic and meticulous fashion. All of them have an acute taste for detail and leave no hair unscathed on your head. I usually get a 2 fade on the sides and a trim up top back at home, but decided to be a bit more adventurous an add some European style to my hair. Despite the apparent language barrier, Carlos knew exactly what I wanted and gave me truly one of the best haircuts I've ever had. The prices were extremely reasonable and no more than what I would pay back in the states (Avg about 20$). It is hard to make my hair look good because of the directions it wants to grow and my hair texture (fine and increasingly thin), but Teresa succeeded where many have failed. As a tourist in Barcelona, I've felt torn: it's natural to want to see this beautiful, historic city, but my presence is also an imposition on the local residents who must feel like they're being crowded out of their own home by strangers. I finally got into the building and made it up the salon. When I answered the door I showed him the email confirming my appointment to which he said that the stylist hadn't come in that day, I believe because she was either sick or had to go out of town (the whole conversation was him talking in Spanish and me responding in English). It was already noon and I saw when I made the appointment online that she had other people booked before me, so it wasn't like I was showing up as the first customer of the day. So despite having my contact info AND the fact that I called to confirm no one ever bothered to tell me she wasn't coming in. Plus it was like they were trying to hide because they screwed up - hanging up on me and then not letting me into the building. The whole thing was a nightmare with the worst possible timing and made me almost miss the wedding. Regardless of the language barrier it was the definition of bad customer service.
