If in need of a haircut my boyfriend is always sure to come here as this is one of the best barbers he believes he has visited to date (I think he always comes out with a great, clean and tidy hair cut). Occasionally they will use a switch blade to tidy up the edges, and finish it off with a spray of cologne. Located in the heart of Dominion road, there is easy street parking around the corner on Rockland's Ave. They do not have a website and are quite hard to find information about online, but take our word from experience.

And the guy wasn't unfriendly, although he was pretty much silent the whole time. Until it was time to pay, this is, and I got out my eftpos card, when he basically told me off for not having cash. Now I understand that there are costs involved with having eftpos in your shop, and if people pay in cash then that's ten dollars less you have to mention to the IRD, but actually none of that is my problem. You've got eftpos in your shop, I want to pay by eftpos, that should be fine. There's no way to justify making me feel like a dick about it. However, I went past here the other day and there was another guy in there cutting hair. So whether the one I dealt with has left, or whether they have more than one barber, I don't know. But it's worth bearing in mind.

Also I've long not been a fan if shaving everyday so I used to just let it grow, buzz it back and grow again, buzz it back... repeat. Barber & Tattoo Studio is close by my work so I though I'd give them a try instead of the place up the road which was always busy. I've not stopped coming back. Willy is the barber i see to but the owner also cuts. Willy's service is great. He's friendly and chatty and takes massive pride in his work. Never before have I had such service. On my first visit Willy asked me "Can i shape your beard"? "Sure" I said and he proceeded to shave it carefully with a cutthroat razor and an awesome smelling shave gel. Suddenly I had a new look and came out feeling pampered. People comment every time Willy has done his magic. Many of my friends and colleagues now come here too. Just rock up from mid morning, I avoid lunchtimes as there's often a line. I can't speak for the tattoos as I haven't plucked up the courage yet...

Properly blended in with no awkward lines. No wait to get a haircut either. Prices were reasonable and well worth it. Wouldn't hesitate to go again. Definitely has become my go to barbershop when passing in Auckland.

Mark was my stylist and he honestly rocked it :). I decided to add a handful of foils to my hair to give me a sun-kissed look and he was competitive with his prices for this as well. Hair cuts start from $25, then add-on from there. Another $5 for a shampoo, $5 for a dry off, $20 Student cut, $15 Buzz cut or POA for colour or perm. I love this concept. All stylists are generally senior cutters from large salons (think Serveilles, Stephen Mair, French Revolver or Toni & Guy) who charge only a fraction of the cost. The space is minimalist and stylish - with no fuss. Two locations at the moment - Auckland City or Eden Terrace. Staff are friendly & engaging: speak to you with interest, not a clone. In Yelp heaven. Really.

The second haircut I wasn't nearly as happy with, and I haven't been back. Haircuts are such a subjective thing. Was the second one worse than the first one? Or just different? Or even the same, and my tastes had just changed in the meantime? What makes me think that it's not the last option is that the barber's demeanour was totally different each time - one haircut was done nearly in complete silence, the other chatting at a mile a minute, and I can't recall which was which.
