I've been trying to find a good barber in Auckland for a few years, but am always lazy and end up going to the first place I see and getting an average cut for what seems like a lot of money. Until I found Barkers Groom Room. It's upstairs from the Barkers shop in High Street and you can't get a better barber than this.
You can make an appointment online, over the phone or just try your luck with a walk-in. It's decor is great and there is a large waiting area with a huge leather couch and more magazines than you could need. All cuts come with a free drink (whiskey, bourbon, soft drink or a coffee from the barista downstairs).
There's a few options for a cut. A standard one for $39. $44 gets you a wash and hot facial towel and $59 adds in a wet shave (I can't think of another place off the top of my head that does a wet shave). Excellent value for money. The stylists are friendly and offer good advice and can do a basic cut if that's what you want. But they can also style your hair and do a wide range of options which is great as some barbers can be limited to a basic cut.
Overall, this is my new hairdresser and I'm hooked. You won't find one better than this in my opinion. read more
