Perhaps this is new information but barking dogs are fucken annoying. No one wants to hear that. Buy a cd player, I'm sure Geelong has one.

This Modern Australian cuisine is amazing and the venue is just cool.. Fabulous for Victorias…read moresecond largest city. Of course it's located on the funky strip of Packington Street Geelong West. This place is new, my local friends tells me the hidden gem has only been open for about six weeks and unless you're a local you would easily miss it.. We decided Monday was a good day to take the French bulldogs for a walk and stop off for a wine and lunch.. There is a large courtyard at the front of the dining hall, with ample seating and space, the dogs sat under our table with their very own bowl of water.. Perfect venue if you have dogs!! The whole facade is what looks to be an original building, exposed brick, polished concrete, high ceilings and just one big open space.. The staff were very friendly (personally I think this is a given in a rural area, people just have that happy, friendly country personality), menu was extensive but not over expanded and a great wine list.. Having more than one Rosé on a wine list always excited me.. Food to die for, light but filling meals, presentation is one of the best I've seen and it didn't cost me a weeks wage to get it!! This dining hall turns bar is perfect for a winter red inside with the warmth or a summer cider outside in the sun!! Definitely be back again..

Catering for a coffee culture that is not 'Geelong' and also meals for lunch and dinner, this place has quite a lot to offer. Unfortunately the coffee was not quite reaching a standard of what is common in similar venues in Melbourne, however it's not always about the product but rather spending time with the people you're with. I have been told on good authority that the chicken wing dish is something to be experienced, and upon my next visit this will indeed be the my mission. Having said all that, if you're looking for a place just to sit and talk over coffee and or light meal, weather permitting, Zigfrids does not fail to give a great venue to do this.

I have to say that the term 'Gold Digger' means something vastly different these days than it did…read morewhen this pub was first established. Mind you, I wasn't swarmed by so called 'Gold Diggers' when I came here, but that is probably because I don't wander around in $1000 suits. Anyway, it was an okay pub, the service was good, and the beers okay, but nothing outstanding. They did have a pretty awesome beer garden out the back though. Mind you, it was pretty packed when I came here, so there is that to consider.

For years and years this was the pub to head for a casual night out with a mug of beer (yep, a…read moremug), a bowl of hot chips and a sneaky bet on the dogs. This was the ultimate in 'old man' pubs, but a recent renovation has made the Diggers a bit more fancy with a brand new bar, an actual WINE LIST and the TV section hidden in a back room. Look, I am a bit weird as I do enjoy an old man pub - it's non-threatening, you can keep to yourself and your friends and generally have an easy night out, and while it still has that casual, easy-going element to it the recent renovation has made it a bit too fancy in my books. The Diggers is split into three different areas - a saloon bar, a normal bar and a dining area. The food is big and tasty - how does a country pub do a parma so damn well? And the crowd varies from families to couples to of course, the old men. This is not a place to dance but to relax.
