Recently had to take our Senior Golden in for a pretty bad ear infection…read more When I made her appointment to see the Vet., I was given a break down cost of what to expect (I asked for cost estimate). The clinic is Clean and the staff is very capable. We were given an exam room within 5-10 min. Dr. Sara came in to see us. She was very gentle with our girl's tender inflamed ear. She took the time to talk to us, find out what was going on and how she would proceed. A quick Q-tip swab of the ear was taken, and then to the backroom for a culture. Dr Sara came back with results and again explained how she thought we should treat the infection. We were notified that the procedure could take additional treatments to get all of the infection. (inflamed, drainage, smell). While the patient's ear was being cleaned and treated, a vet assistant came back into our exam room and let us know the procedure, and again broke down the cost for our approval. We were on our way home within 30-40 minutes from the start of our appointment. Cost $212 (office visit, cytology, clean & flush ears, EKT with tobramycin, 2 antibiotics to take home: prednisone & ciprofoxacin & annual rabies shot). By the next morning - Our girl was wagging her tail and wanting to play. The drainage and odor was gone and the ear was normal flesh color. I'm Thrilled! We do have to go back for a follow up next week, but I'm told there is no office visit fee, just a quick culture/exam to confirm infection is gone ($35). The staff is very capable. Dr Sara was wonderful with our precious girl. The hours aren't very convenient for people working 8-5, but they do have longer hours (7:30pm) on Tues/Thurs. I think that they discourage 'walk-ins' unless an Emergency. I don't think this is any different from your people doctor's schedule. The scheduled appointments allow control of the wait time, exam rooms and patient care. The price is uncomfortable, but only because it was an unexpected expense on my part. The clinic is closed on Sat/Sun, which means you have to schedule your appointments during the week and schedule around your work hours. This is no different than what I have to do when making appointments for my own medical treatments. We will continue to use Vilonia Animal Clinic as our Primary Medical Facility for our four legged family members. They receive excellent medical treatment there - thank you.

Unfortunately what the first doctor said, isn't being held. I was told to call back if the first medicine didn't work and he would provide a prescription. in other words, the receptionist wants me to spent another $150. why did they assign a new patient to someone that retired within days after my appointment? June-Aug 2025 I'll be pulling his records to find a better vet.

I cannot believe your response. I had told you how she was reactive, but never did she show anyone…read morethe kind of aggression you said she did. The fact that the guy was able to handle her after the "attack" you mentioned. He said he had felt the tug on his shirt and nothing more. My husband has responded now to what he had seen and also how you were while we were there. I am updating my review based on your response. I am glad my pup didn't stay with you.

Well Blair C. I decided it would be best if some light was…read moreshed on the "incident" in question. You say that you "are sorry to have offended", yet apparently you have very little idea or even a concept of how offensive you were. It had nothing to do with where you come from as a facility, and everything to do with how you were are people. The least offensive one being the guy (who's name I forgot). So as you "responded" to a few of my wife's comments, I will in turn do the same for yours. It shows me that you have zero actual experience dealing with canines that have a personality beyond compliant and submissive. That was very quickly and readily shown with your lack of being able to control or even calm the one male that was constantly barking, and rushing the kennel gate to get at our dogs, & the two "brothers" in the separated outdoor area that decided to "fight" because of our girls and they wanted to show off how big and tough they were, in a "pick me" contest. You warned your male counterpart to "stay away from", and "not to go in there" because of the fear you felt because of their "fighting". You say as an "example" that our Shepard "growled while bristling when she got out of the truck". She barked, one high pitched, alerting bark. You 'never' saw her bristle. If she had I would have ended the "visit" immediately, because that would mean that she see's you as a threat to her and her family. If she had been serious, or "aggressive" as your female partner kept claiming, her hackles would have been up, and her barks would have sounded like they were coming from a dog two times her size. They are deep and resonating, and cannot be mistaken for anything else as a warning. You mentioned that my wife had "tried to train her as a service dog but she could not ever be one due to every time you rounded a corner and someone surprised her she barked and lunged, but other than that she was quiet." This statement is an outright lie, I know because I was there. What was said is that she "Wanted to train her as a service dog, but because of my wife's illness she couldn't keep up with the training. When she was out in public it was to acclimate her to other people, but that was sporadic at best, and then impossible because of her illness." Once we got into the smaller of the yards, the dog in the kennel Never stopped barking and lunging at the kennel door. You never addressed that "aggression". Even though our GS didn't react back. She looked at him as she walked mere inches past his kennel door and did nothing back. The two "brothers" were doing a dominance display for our girls, but you didn't know or register that because you proceeded to "warn" your male companion to "stay away from them" and to "not go in there". The immediate question in my mine was "Why?". If these were dogs that you knew, considering you said that they had boarded with you multiple times, then why the caution if they "weren't aggressive" as you kept asserting? The obvious answer was that you were lying. I walked over to them, with both of our girls flanking me I might add, and calmly talked to the two boys. They instantly calmed down for me and began waging their tails and relaxed. Our girls meanwhile never reacted to the "fighting", because they knew it wasn't a fight. You say that our GS lunged, barked (she did bark, and again it was her high pitched alert bark) and bristled at you when she came out of the kennel, yet I noticed you didn't have a mark on you. My wife even demonstrated that she would react with the bark even to her. Hell, our GS did a "cover" maneuver on You, that she learned from her sister that Passed. Protecting you from my Wife until she realized that it was her Mom. Lastly, when she grabbed your male companion by the shirt. Yes it left a hole in the shirt. She has sharp teeth, canines tend to, it comes from being a predator. He wasn't harmed and she never "tried to bite him". If she had he and you would have been going to the hospital, because you would be bleeding. Instead of him being able to calmly walk her to our truck and get her in with ZERO issues. Bottom line, I am glad we didn't board with you because the 'Only' danger you were even in was from me. As a USMC Disabled Vet with Complex PTSD, listening to how you were disparaging my dog, was akin to having someone disparage my child, and if we didn't leave when we did, you would have had more to worry about than as my wife described, your "bias" opinion of our GS.

I took my Schnauzer to Hartman for his entire life. At least 1x per year he'd get some sort of…read moregastrointestinal issue, usually a little blood in the stool. Almost a decade of charted issues and routine check ups. Somehow, his back tooth got bad enough that it got infected. Took him in on a Thursday and the vet prescribed him NSAIDs. Now, at this point, I have no idea. I'm not a vet. I trust the professionals. By Friday night he is puking up blood. Hartman closes at 5pm, this happened literally at 5:15 pm. So I hope for the best and plan on taking him in on Monday. He wound up having to go to the emergency vet because he started wailing in pain toward Sat night. Come to find out, NSAIDs are not good for gastrointestinal sensitive patients and is ultimately what caused his internal bleeding. Why was he prescribed NSAIDs with his charted history. A simple google search of "should you give NSAIDs to someone with GI issues" returns a resounding NO. Yet they did and my dog is no longer here because of it. My GFs dog, who grew up with my Schnauzer, was a long haired Daschund. After he was 10 years old, Hartman said over and over that his teeth were getting bad but at his advanced age, wasn't a good idea to be put under. Fast forward SEVEN years later of this being the same narrative when we would take him in and say "maybe we need to pull some teeth here". Nope, he's too old for that. Well, finally, his teeth abscessed and Hartman finally agreed to put him under and do some surgery. They cleaned his teeth and pulled a few and assured us he should be on the right path. Less than a month later we were back in their office because his mouth was worse. The infection was so bad it had eaten away some of his upper pallet and was rotting through the outside of the skin (see below EDIT: couldn't post due to it being graphic because his little face was THAT BAD). They FINALLY realized they fucked up and referred to us to Memphis to a vet that specializes in dental issues. They were appalled at his condition and could not believe that he had been under the care of a licensed Vet, much less Hartman who they take referrals from all the time. This vet is like a bad PCP. Cookie cutter diagnosis, always by the book even when the patient presents with obvious symptoms, nope, by the book. One dog died due to their negligence and my other dog suffered needlessly for YEARS with infected teeth because the book said it was risky to do a teeth cleaning on a dog that was 10. He lived until 17 AND HAD SURGERY AT HARTMAN at 17 years old. Had they taken his teeth more serious (and shame on me for "trusting" the professionals against my better judgement, a mistake I will not make again) my sweet little guy would have had a much better quality of life in his golden years. **I kept this all to myself for a few years until I realized they are paying to be promoted on Google as a top result. Please take your beloved animals anywhere else**
