Although we have used this business in the past with satisfactory results, our dog recently suffered an injury while at Barksville Inn. We were not notified, nor was a vet consulted at the time of injury. By the time we fetched our pup 2-3 days later (Kevin could not say when it had happened) and discovered the half-dollar-sized wound, it was too late for our vet to apply stitches. We provided oral and topical antibiotics, performed ongoing, twice-daily soaking treatments, and revisited the vet, all of which led to eventual healing. Kevin did not call to check on the dog, did not offer reimbursement for vet or kennel fees, did not seem to feel any remorse for having inflicted damage to our dog (apparently due to "backing up the wheelchair"). This past Holiday Season was the first time I used the Barksville Inn and my dog Bella (1 yr old Golden Retriever) loved her stay!:))) I did take time to visit the property prior to leaving Bella. I knew once I saw the large yard in back and all the space inside to roam and play with the other dogs she would never want to come home!:)) Kevin and David are phenomenal business owners! They provide a safe, clean and enjoyable space for the dogs they board. It was so great to get pictures/videos of Bella having such a good time and playing with the other dogs boarding at the same time. It felt so good now worry and know Bellas was in great hands!:) I would highly recommend the Barksville Inn to anyone looking for a warm, safe and loving environment for their dogs!:) Hope E. We brought our dogs in for a meet and greet and then a second time before our trip so our dogs would do okay at the Barksville Inn. The owner said we were okay to leave our dogs during Thanksgiving week. The day before our trip, we dropped the dogs off. My bigger dog ran up to the lady that was there and let her pet him. She was calm and my dog was calm. Very friendly. There was another employee (male) that my bigger dog was barking at because he was a stranger. My dog barks at strangers until he knows that person is trustworthy and safe to be around. This man kept yelling at me to get my dog out and they couldn't watch him. I was trying to explain something to him but he cut me off and kept yelling telling me he didn't care and claimed my dog "almost bit him." Which he didn't. This is unacceptable customer service and very unprofessional. Our Thanksgiving trip was cancelled. read more

I was looking for a new dog sitter for our two daschunds. Our previous sitter would have up to 20 dogs at a time and was unable to give our dogs much attention or interaction at all. When we found out that our blind one spent the whole time there hiding we knew it was time to find someone else. We boarded our two dachshunds at the Barksville Inn and were very happy with the loving care they received. My husband and I decided to give the Inn a trial run before our upcoming longer vacation. We were nervous about leaving them with someone new, especially Lucy, the blind one. Turns out we were the only nervous ones. Buddy and Lucy did just fine! Kevin and David are caring people who really love dogs. They had a huge fenced in yard, which was a plus. Unfortunately, it rained most of their stay there. Hopefully it will stop raining next week! We will be taking them back then for a longer stay. I feel confident that they will be well cared for. I recommend the Barksville Inn 100%! read more

The owners of the barksville inn screwed us over for our vacation. We had a meet and greet and I confirmed with them multiple times that we were able to bring our dogs for the week but upon arrival, which was an hour and a half drive for us, they told us that they were over booked. Leaving us with no place to bring our dogs for our vacation. This is such a poor way to conduct a business and dispite trying to reach out to Kevin for an explanation he never reached out to explain or apologize. If you need a place that is reliable this is not it. read more
