The Bath was once my local. I actually used to live directly behind it. I won't allow the constant sound of bottles colliding with one another when staff would pour them into the recycling bin out back effect my review however. I've always enjoyed myself at The Bath. Call me middle class, but I like to judge a pub's food by the quality of their schnitzels, and The Bath's schnitzels are certainly above average. They have a large range of beers, wine, and standard and top shelf spirits. Prices are pretty standard, which is quite good considering the upper-class feel of the place. The "beer garden" out the back is very classy indeed. There's an interesting fountain and some unique looking standing gas heaters. Plenty of seated and standing tables as well. A great place for after work drinks, a decent meal, or to watch the sporting match of your particular taste. read more

I've been here a few times, namely because it was a short walk from the cinema, and also has a pretty decent beer garden down the side. It is one of those pubs that has a trendy aspect to it, and a very fancy restaurant, though the problem is that the restaurant is located between the beer garden and the pub (which means people are tramping through here quite often). I was first introduced to this pub by some friends from church, who described the beer garden making it a great summer-time pub. I believe I've been here for a work lunch as well. In a way the pub hasn't changed much - it's always been packed - however they had added another bar to to side which is a craft beer bar as well as a trendy pizzeria. Mind you, the one things they don't have is Coopers Pale Ale on tap, which is very unusual for a pub in Adelaide). read more

It's been ages since I've been here and the menu has changed. We had a large school parent gathering and two tables in the front room with other diners. A lovely simple table setting, white table clothes with a candle in a large jar. Orders were taken and I chose the Confit Duck Legs ($25). I chose well, the meat fell off the bone when touched with my fork, succulent and absolutely delicious. Unfortunately they still don't have sparkling red by the glass, so opted for still red. It would be preferable to have had two bills (one for each table) as easier to sort out with wines/drinks ordered that were added to the bill. read more

Beer and I are most definately close friends, and I am always on the look out for a good place where I can get better aquainted with him. I have found myself at The Bath every once and a while, but to be honest it is gererally when I was meeting friends who were already going there or because I was down that side of Norwood Parade and it wasn't quite Guiness O'Clock. Don't get me wrong, the Bath is a decent pub, but in all honesty I could take it or leave it. I really like a bar that has character, and I feel that is one thing that is lacking here. It is nice and modern, but just doesn;t have that soul that a great watering hole has. Food wise, pretty solid, but the eating area seems to 'try' to be more swanky than it is, and it is a little over priced, considering there are a number of quality meal options within walking distance. No doubt I will find myself there again in the future, but as usual it will probably be for a quick brew to kill some time, rather than settling in for the night. read more

The Base Bar and eatery is a good place to stop past for a pre movie feed. A Pizza and Tapas Bar, part of the Bath Hotel complex. The Pizzas are all wood oven cooked and a good size for one (about 25cm or 11") with a diverse range of toppings. Friends I was with had the meat covered one and loved it. If pizza is not your thing for the night they also serve up a selection of Tapas style items, you'll need 2 at least to feel comfortably fed, but the pricing is based on that mostly. the table had a few choices from some richly sauced Gnocchi to Pork Belly, Calamari and Rosemary potatoes.. and all tasted very nice. read more

A girl friend and I decided to have an after work drink at The Bath a few Friday ago. I've been here before on Saturday or Sunday afternoon session and enjoyed the crowd, food and beer garden. Unfortunately, it seems we picked a bad night. The crowd was 70% male and an older 45 to 55 age bracket, in itself not a problem (we're mid 30s), but it had a distinct sleazy pick up vibe. We hadn't even ordered a drink before the first move was made. We politely smiled moved on and found the table. We couldn't drink them fast enough. The guys appeared to be playing a game of who was going to make the first shot as each new group of women arrived. It's a great spot if you're on the hunt for a man in that age bracket. For two friends looking to catch up drink, it wasn't the perfect place. I'll give it another try but not on a Friday night. read more

The Bath Hotel is a very pretty pub; but behind that superficial beauty, it lacks true soul. There's no doubt that this place is sleek and modern. The interior decor is nice, and there's plenty of space to lounge around and enjoy a couple of drinks. The outdoor beer garden is probably the best aspect of this place, and it's suitable for both summer and winter weather, with parasols and gas heaters for wet and shine. Unfortunately, everyone else also seems to be a fan of the beer garden, and therefore it's almost always packed full of blundering fools like a cage at the zoo (which I'm usually okay with after a few drinks). I just can't seem to find any real substance to the Bath. Yes, it's nicely decorated and has a very modern feel to it, and it's not a bad place to down a few beers every once in a while, but there's not too much beyond its flashy appearance. It lacks character - there are no stories to be told here. As much as I hate the crowds that inhabit places like the Exeter Hotel, bars like that have stories coming out of the woodwork (quite literally). There's something unique that defines them, and even the shittest bar in the world can have its own charm. Sadly, character can't be faked with pretty packaging. read more

I've actually had some good nights here. The food is pretty good, the drinks are standard (iz alcohol, iz good) and if you're with the right people then yeah, it's a good place. The interior is modern, sleek and stylish, and an outdoor area. I like that this place is very open and breezy, so there's plenty of fresh air. It's not squishy and sweaty like other places, although it can get like that on a Friday night, but hey that's pretty much like any other place. There's plenty of furniture and tables, and the crowd (on the right night) isn't bad. Otherwise, yes, you will end up getting hit on by 40 year old men. I used to come here a lot with workmates back when I was still at Woolies Marryatville. We've had some good times here, but then again, if you're with the right people you can have fun anywhere. read more

The Bath has a very nice open dining area at the front. After trying the more casual adjoining 'Base' a few times and finding their pizza's very average I was a bit skeptical. The menu is pub (good pub) meets restaurant. The staff are lovely but pub (good pub!) not restaurant. The meal was faultless. The Wagu beef burger was way better than the nearby gourmet burger joints. I loved the super light airy burger buns they used. The duck legs were also great, as were the duck fat chips. Nothing that exciting going on here to be honest. Coming from a hospitality background I like to watch staff and fault them wherever I can, say I order a bottle of sparkling, if the staff member can't find it, that's strike 1 , If they then tell me that the sparkling is not in stock when I can plainly see it, that's strike 2, and finally, if said sparkling is served with a strawberry in the glass, well they're out. I don't do this in a malicious way, it just helps me pass the time if I'm waiting for someone. So why am I even telling you this story? well because it happened to me at the Bath Hotel and I'm just saying that the service was about 10 minutes too slow. Yes, the decor is nice, there is the right wallpaper on the walls and the right lamp on the right table, but its just a little boring and therefore didn't really create an atmosphere that egged me on to stay and drink my life away for the evening - I sincerely doubt this was the designers intention. It's just not my scene, but I can understand how it appeals to others because it's a nice pub. There just isn't that X Factor, in fact it wouldn't make it through the first round of auditions. read more

Great place for a good pub meal! I had lunch at the Bath a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed the atmosphere and food. I am not a big meat-eater, but ordered the chicken parmigiana and while, yes, they served it with the chips under the parmy, it was really yummy. A real piece of chicken (not some horrible pulverized piece of meat that might have once been chicken) with a crisp crumb and delicious cheese and tomato topping. Reviewing a chicken parmy is nothing ground breaking, I realize, however, for an ex-vego, the Bath made this meat very appetizing! read more

My most recent visit here was to grab a quick meal before heading off to see my newborn niece with family, we decided to dine in the restaurant section of the hotel as the bar was booked with a private function. Service was good, some staff were a bit new and didn't necessarily understand what we were ordering but we got there in the end. Drinks came out without a fuss and soon after our garlic bread came out, we ordered two but it was too much, each serve had 6 slices for $7 so good value but the garlic taste was barely there. Mains arrived a bit later and while good they were a bit underwhelming, the schnitzel was okay but nothing great or special, the fish and chips were okay but a bit oily, when cutting into the fish and I can see the oil pool it's not great, the risotto was nice though and had good portions of chicken in it. A good night but nothing really to get me back again other than the beer garden and drinks with friends. Drink here but go elsewhere for food, Base here is good for food. read more

Great renovated hotel and bar. We went to The Base section of the Bath Hotel, the food was excellent, we had wood fired barbecue ribs and boy, were they delicious! A couple of cold beers on a hot day really topped it off. The chef was flexible, as we are on a low-carb diet. The service was also good. Would definitely go back again. read more

The Bath hotel situated on the Parade Norwood SA. The hotel has been tastefully redecorated and refurbished. The dining bar areas are modern, spacious, with lots of excellent dining options. We decided to sit under the umbrellas kerbside, while shoppers strolled past. Their menu offered a range of great lunch options. On finishing we relaxed in the shade and enjoyed a glass of bubbles. When heading to the Parade in Norwood for a drink, this hotel would be my first choice. Why? First of all, I think the choice of decent pubs in that area is rather limited. I like the interior of the Bath, modern and simple, with nice wallpapers and some decorations. The outside area is rather small but creates quite an intimate space for such a busy street like the Parade. The crowd is, well, sometimes good, sometimes bad. You get a lot of people that go for after work drinks but on the odd occasions you'll find everything from young (wannabe) snobs to slightly creepy old men. Drink prices are reasonable for a hotel. I haven't tried their food yet but it strikes me as nothing spectacular. The usual tapas platters, fish and chips and steaks. If you're on the Parade and want to have a drink there, I'd recommend going to the Bath. However, if you don't mind driving a bit further out, you'll find something better elsewhere. read more

Very nice from the outside, however when I went in it was like a maze! There are five separate main areas that I found, with multitudes of nooks for people to get away from the bigger groups. You have the lounge, the restaurant, the bar, outside area and gaming. Coming in late for a Friday lunch , we sat at the bar for all of two seconds while the table was made ready. Nice considering that the place was relatively full still and we had no booking. Decided that I would try the beef schnitzel parmy. I have always thought that this was a good indication of the level of food at any establishment with the word "pub" or "hotel" in the name. I wasn't disappointed. Not large enough that it covered the plate, but it was a good thick piece of meat - unlike some other pubs that pound their meat until it is as thin as paper. The menu itself was varied, and there seems to be daily specials available as well. I think what stops the Bath Hotel from getting a rip roaring score are the different areas that you have to find your way to by weaving through other areas. It seems to me that the designers were trying to allow people areas to socialise in private, but with the lack of real space, it seems to be almost a mish-mash of add-ons that you have to work your way through to find the area you are looking for. The waiting staff were all very accommodating albeit a little over the top looking for customers that needed a top up or wanted desserts. This might suit others - so it is not a complaint, merely an observation - but personally I like it when the staff can sense when you do or do not want to be disturbed. They had a good grasp of the menus and were all pleasant. Pricing wasn't bad for The Parade. All in all a good meal, at a reasonable price, but I would hesitate to go again. I almost felt a little claustrophobic and lost at times. read more

Its my second visit now to Bath and I have again enjoyed myself. I love the open plan and outdoor feel to the restaurant/bar and the choice of being able to sit inside and outside. I've only ever had the pizza which is always yum and the Rose Wine is a good choice, nice and dry! The staff have always been friendly and accommodating. It took a long time to try to get someone's attention so we could order a drink as one of the girls behind the bar I believe I heard her name was Molly was to busy reading what was on her phone.
