The have one of those automatic push the button and the machine pours out brown water with no flavor! If you ask for a real cup of coffee they want to charge you more for it. Seriously $400 dollars for my room and I still have to pay for my coffee! So I giving it a very weak 4 star's just like there weakest coffee possible! Yuk!

Ok, maybe I'd throw in the word comfort too, for this hotel had the most comfortable bed of my entire two week trip. Yup, I was as snug as a little joey in his mother's pouch. Oh, and the carpeted floors were simply Heaven with so much spongy padding underneath the carpet that I felt like I was walking on a cloud. I swear this experience was just like taking a trip to a spa, and it had me crying, "Why can't my carpets at home be this awesome!" Finally, the location of this one rocks!! The whole area near the hotel is loaded with bars and restaurants of just about every style--why I even found a sushi conveyor-belt restaurant around the corner. Kanpai! Yes Sir, whatever language you want to say it in---Kanpai, Cheers, Hooray, or Good On YA ----The Majestic Roof Garden Hotel is a winner.

It's given me a unique opportunity to to experience a week at a live music venue. Even after a full week I still think it's a great venue. I haven't given the pub part of the establishment too many visits, but the venue is yet to disappoint. Compared to other similar places, the drinks are reasonably priced and the bar staff are a pleasant mix of too cool for you and friendly. It could be my distinctive hair, but they've started to remember what I drink. (yeah, I feel just a little like a rock star) The space offers good viewing for all genres of music fan, with raised areas for short asses (which I occasionally count myself as) and bars at both sides of the stage. There's also a spacious (and oddly a little tropical) beer garden for tobacco enthusiasts. When bands visit Adelaide, I take the venue into consideration. If they play The Gov, chances are I'll be there.

It really depends what music you're into, who you're with, who you know, and what you want to do there. I've been here several times before with close friends. Some people go to The Gov to socialise and have a few drinks. But not me. I dance! I even completed the advanced salsa lessons. I'm a male dancer. Well, I used to be, anyway. And I must say - if you want Latin American flavour in a local setting, this can clearly be witnessed and felt at The Gov...the location is easy to get to and once you step in, there is a good chance you will know quite a few people there or meet new high quality people. Then, of course, you get parts of the crowd who are just there to watch. Here are some of my favourite observations from my last night there: 1. By the end of the night, I was sweating like a pig, and lost a lot of calories from hours of non-stop salsa dancing. I was in it, to win it. 2. The venue can get packed, but there's not much of a line out the door around 10pm, unlike a lot of dance clubs in the city, so you'll get in straight away (most people are already inside gathering!) 3. Several women will want to dance with you...La Bomba anyone? How about some sexy salsa? I couldn't say no. 4. There is a large dance space. 5. You will see many women prancing around in sexy ballroom dresses or Rio Festival costumes...but I didn't complain, at all. The only suggestion I can make if this is going to be super awesome in the future is probably a wider range of salsa music and perhaps better song choices (geez, I never thought I'd sound like an American Idol judge)...but overall a clean, no-smoking, dance hall with cool bar staff. Not so sure about the odd sleazebags who do nothing all night except stand by the back wall and just stare...but ignoring them, this is one of the best spots for dancing in Adelaide because I still remember how fun it was to shake my bootay back then. I will definitely go back if I find myself a new dance partner! My old one left the State!

That's all you can ask for really…read more The Gilbert St Hotel is in a way the younger brother of Wright St Hotel the next street over, but that's what makes it attractive to me. They constantly have good service, the staff are excellent, the ambiance is great. The food is a bit on the expensive side however for a pub meal even though they do try to fancy-it-up a little bit. I had a chicken cobb salad which looked and tasted like a homecook meal that I could whip up myself. Nevertheless, I still come back because it just feels right.

Desert was chocolate bliss, that's all I can remember. The bliss. Serving time was not memorable one way or another. Though they were informed, and cheerful. A glass of wine, a G&T, 3 or 4 share plates, 1 desert and a cocktail came to $125. We were there quite early in the evening (7pm) and it was rather quiet. (1 trio and a couple besides us) Will we be back? Not sure. But we certainly won't avoid it. If we lived nearby, I could imagine slowly becoming recognised by the staff.

Some of these included grilled prawns with a mango salsa, quails and croquettes with winter vegetables. Each plate had been carefully thought of and each ingredient had deserved its place. We then had mains after this, yes we were a little full as they had even brought us bread with olive oil ( olive oil was from Marino Meat & Food Store in the Central Markets). Well, it's actually quite a nice pub, though it is pretty stock standard when it comes to pubs. Basically it is your typical suburban pub - gaming room, restaurant, sports bar - you get the picture. They do have a couple of beer gardens, and one of them is non-smoking (at least when the kitchen is open). The other one is just a plain grassed area. It's an okay pub, but nothing hugely fantastic.

Call me middle class, but I like to judge a pub's food by the quality of their schnitzels, and The Bath's schnitzels are certainly above average. They have a large range of beers, wine, and standard and top shelf spirits. Prices are pretty standard, which is quite good considering the upper-class feel of the place. The "beer garden" out the back is very classy indeed. There's an interesting fountain and some unique looking standing gas heaters. Plenty of seated and standing tables as well. A great place for after work drinks, a decent meal, or to watch the sporting match of your particular taste.

I was first introduced to this pub by some friends from church, who described the beer garden making it a great summer-time pub. I believe I've been here for a work lunch as well. In a way the pub hasn't changed much - it's always been packed - however they had added another bar to to side which is a craft beer bar as well as a trendy pizzeria. Mind you, the one things they don't have is Coopers Pale Ale on tap, which is very unusual for a pub in Adelaide).

As the trend for pubs which look like fancy bars and fancier restaurants continues, its nice to walk into a pub with a solid wooden bar, well worn chesterfields in the front bar and fairly simple wooden tables in the restaurant expect the traditional as well; chicken schnittys, fish and chips - the works. The Duck Inn also has a great range of beers and ciders. Adelaide Hills cider has been on tap here since you could tap their kegs and their local range is superb for a small pub. Like most pubs, the Duck Inn does have pokies, but you can't hear them in the restaurant and the noise level in the bar is minimal. I'd opt for the Duck Inn on a lazy day and to sit in the Front bar next to the fire on the big couches with some beer and chips and spend your day doing not quite a lot.

Sad, because it had been the kind of place we'd planned to stay at for a break away from home.
