Local and sustainable Battered haddock supper with the view from the car even Aberdonians are driving there
Helena V.

Our favourite stop on the way between Aberdeen - Edinburgh with beautiful view of the sea if you are lucky with the weather The staff is always pleasant and the food is prepared usually relatively fast. It is also responsibly sourced, which they are famous for. However I do advise to park nearby as there is quite common to stand in a looong queue outside It is quite squashed for space and on top of that it is a favourite place to go even for Aberdonians

My favorite fish and chips in the UK so far and they set the bar high! Delicately crisp fish batter, simple but tasty meal.

We heard it was the best fish and chips in Scotland from a chef friend and he was right! We had an amazing time here and loved the food!

Well, it´s fried mars bar but actually it wasn´t bad. Even sweeter than classical one. Anyway, it´s a nice small place for grabbing a quick lunch to go. Yes, they have also other things but fried mars bar.

This is not only the birthplace of the deep-fried Mars bar but it also has award winning fish and chips. So we ordered both and I was in deep-fried heaven. Soft and yielding fresh tasting fish covered in delicate and crispy batter. The chips were textbook perfect covered in malt vinegar and salt. It was delicious beyond belief and the homemade tartar sauce was silky and flavourful. The deep fried mars bar was so good it made my tooth ache and made my heart skip a beat. The lady who took our order was very congenial and the cook seemed to be completely at ease standing over big vats of oil, which bubbled golden and comfortably. I cannot believe how wonderful this place is to have so much deep fried offerings. I wish I could try everything on the menu but I barely finished my big serving of halibut and chips. This is the best thing I have ever happened upon and I will continue dreaming of coming back here. Stonehaven is deep-fried heaven!

Walking into Tailend, the energy of patrons enjoying their meal is infectious. The decor is modern…read morebut comfortable. There is a nice variety of seafood on offer on the menu but the better choice is to select your fish from tonight's specials on the wall. That's what we did and we were very satisfied. The wine menu is limited. We chose a Pouilly Fuse that was unfortunately not drinkable. The staff were kind enough to take it back. I then chose the IPA that was much better. The appetizer recommended by our server was the mussels. These were best mussels I've ever enjoyed. It was served with a sauce made with garlic, butter, milk, and onion. It's good enough to be a soup! Our sides included brocholini and halumi. Both were excellent. The brocholini was flavorful and crunchy with a nice sauce-though know that the sauce has ham in it. The cheese, lightly fried is served with a spicy sauce that I really enjoyed, bit was too much for my wife. It was superb. We selected the monkfish and sea bass for our mains. Both were excellent, moist and flavorful fish-generous portions of each. This was an extremely satisfying and enjoyable meal. It was I've of our best in Scotland. We were frankly unable to eat more and we didn't have dessert.

So I went back the next day by myself, I did rsvp for 1 for 3pm, which was't necessary. After looking at the menu, went with: - Haddock & Chips with mushy peas. One thing I do like about this place was that, they offer different fish options, but no cod, thus I went with haddock. They do better job with frying their fish. The fish and the batter did not fall apart. The mushy peas was not my cup of joe :) When you walk in, to your right is the kitchen, where you can order for take out, walk towards the left to go to the dining room. The service was mediocre, thus only three stars. The wait staff rarely stopped by to check on you or refill your water, you had to hunt them down to get more water.
