A really busy week but staff were able to get us in with no problem. They were also super quick to take our order. The fish tacos were so flavorful and good.

We had fried prawns and scallops for apps. Both great. Haddock full fillet and chips and a side salad for my wife and I. My son had seabass tacos. The sticky toffee pudding was so awesome! Food was fresh and delicious. Fried fish was crispy and glistening inside. I have a soy allergy and all the food was safe. Server was great. There is a to go up front too. Ambiance isn't over the top nice, but who cares with amazing food.

Fish N Chips to go. It was quite different from the fish n chips in Montreal, more greasy but the fish is a bit tastier. I enjoyed it a lot. The portions here a HUGE. I barely finished it. It only cost 8 pounds and 50 pence for mayonnaise.

OMG!! I can see why this place was voted the best fish and chips in Scotland. They give you the option of having it battered , breaded or grilled. That is unheard of and it is the absolutely best California option. I wish I could package you up right now and bring you back home. We ordered the breaded and it was out of this world. We also ordered the scallop appetizer on top of Haggis patties. Superior staff that was quite attentive to these Americans with offering me options for local beers. I have to absolutely say that this place made Saint Andrews memorable in my eyes Forever.

After that was complete, we continued to talk around our table of 6 and two hours later, had no food. Finally a number of our entrees hit the table but some were cold, and sent back. Then one in our party received nothing as it was never put in. The kitchen for some reason was seriously in the weeds although this restaurant isn't that big. Once we received the food, for the most part it was good, but chef doesn't know how to run a kitchen. Our bill came out and dessert wasn't even offered as I think they were embarrassed. The bill was wrong with a number of drinks that were never ordered. No one approached our table to offer an apology of any type of accommodation. I finally went to one of the managers and asked why he would make believe this wasn't even happening. He said he was aware of it, and I said, yet you continued to do nothing about it?! I've been in this industry a long time earlier in life and these people are in the wrong business. They failed at every opportunity am no one from the server to management made any attempt to make it right. Top 3 worst restaurant experiences ever ever had.

Very very reasonable dressed crab and fresh lobster. On a sunny day (yup you are in the East Neuk, so these days are not too rare) between Easter and September, come down to the harbour for some al fresco dining. It is a little bit of New England in Scotland! Here is how you tackle the lobster shack. 1. Make sure it is open - opening hours are variable, but usually open weekends from Easter, and in the height of the summer, they are open during the week for lunch. 2. Bring glassware/plastic cups and corkscrew if you are wanting juice/wine 3. Get some cash - they don't take cards 4. Go to the hut and pick your lobster, they are live and will be freshly boiled for you. 5. Whilst lobster is boiling, go to the co-op across the road and buy some wine, bread, salad or anything else you want to have with the lobster/crab - the lobster/crab is just served as is, no lemon or anything. 6. Come back and grab yourself a bench, get your delish lobster/crab which will be served on a glass plate with real cutlery. 7. Enjoy - guaranteed you will! But please, please, don't tell anyone else - this is a really special place, we don't want it too busy now!!

First off, the restaurant and the owner were so charming and his wife is also the chef. The menu is quite extensive and the choices were all excellent. It is also vegetarian friendly with plenty of choices between meat, seafood and vegetarian. Even the dessert menu was varied and extensive. I initially planned to do the 2 course meal which was very reasonably priced at £27.95, but when I looked at the dessert choices I knew I'd have to save room for three courses. The meal started off with complimentary crackers and warm homemade bread with hummus and salsa, olive oil and butter. It was a lovely start. For my starter I chose the crab baked cheddar and mustard with salad. It was fantastic, so flavourful and filling and was baked in a shell. I had troubles choosing my second course as the options all looked amazing. I wound up choosing the crab trio which consisted of a coconut curried crab also served in a shell, a crab cake and crab risotto. All delicious, although the risotto didn't resemble other risottos I've had, it was still delicious. I think next time if I'm fortunate enough to return i would try to vary up what I had as I ate crab for both courses. Once our server brought our second course she said she would be right back with our vegetables. Our plates were already full yet more food was brought to our table including mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes and steamed vegetables. I was getting so full! And for the finale I chose the Baked Alaska and my hubby chose the Sticky Toffee Pudding. I definitely won in the dessert choices! He finished both his and half of mine. Be sure to check out this fabulous restaurant when visiting St Andrews. You will not be disappointed. Be sure to make a reservation though!

The place has very limited seating inside, they have a large picnic table and few tables out by the street, but the place does get busy. Most of the folks coming here were getting their orders to go. WARNING, they only have one register, you order first and if you are dining in, they will bring you the food. What the cashier won't ask you, is if you need tartar sauce, etc, it's assumed you know how to order. On top of that, the young lady working the registered looked beyond flustered and overwhelmed working. We waited about 5 minutes before we ordered (everything is a la carte, so if you forget to order something, you need to get back in line and order them). We got the following: - Battered Haddock with chips special (comes with a drink) x 2 - Calamari - Onion Rings - Chicken tender salad We got our food, then realized we had to order the tartar sauce, etc. So go back in line, by this time I had to wait 10 minutes to get: - Tartar sauce x 3 - Ketchup (yes they charge you for ketchup) - side order of curry The haddock - first time experiencing fish & chips in Scotland, I walked away from here very disappointed. The fish is NOT seasoned, very bland and the batter fell off the fish. It seemed like there was no binding agent between the fish and the wet batter. The onion ring was too greasy and calamari was decent. The saving grace was the gravy, definitely get the gravy to dip your chips in. Why two stars? - staffing - the cashier could have asked if this was our first time or not... and if it was, then explain that everything is a la carte. Don't assume that folks coming here knows how to order and force them to get back in line to get the condiments. tables - tables with eaten plates everywhere. It seems they foregone the cleaning the tables to take orders and get the lines moving. I think we would walked away with a lot better experience if things were explained to us. Was it worth spending 90 pounds with tip? No.
