Our bathroom door wouldn't close. There was a nice Preseco party and a discussion of the history of the building, which was fun and interesting. They took pictures of everyone and had them sitting at your table in the dining room. After that, we went to dinner where our party was seated at a large round table which was nice so that we could see and talk to everyone. The menu was interesting and I had been craving chicken and was happy to find it there. They brought all 11 meals at once and presented them. Nice touch! Chicken was tasty. Afterwards, we had drinks at the bar and played some snooker (we kind of made up our own rules). The bartenders were very friendly. We had breakfast thr next morning which was nice.

You close your eyes and feel the scorching sun washing over you and the sounds of not so distant waves are drumming out a relaxing beat against the shore. That was my welcome to the Bervie guesthouse on Achill. The place itself is beautiful with years and years of love infused into it. The rooms are bright, airy, clean and comfortable and the hosts are lovely people. They do an awesome deal for a weekend B and B with one night's dinner for around 160 Euro. This is all great but I haven't even started talking about the food yet. The breakfast was out of this world. Proper full Irish and every ingredient tasted fresh and delicious. There was a great buffet option as well with cereals and fruit etc as well as some lighter options like poached eggs and Salmon. Then we had the dinner. Wow. Best food I have tasted in an age. I had confit duck, lamb sausage and haricot beans for starter. Steak, amazingly done, with mushrooms infused with wine and veg and mash and roast spuds. Followed by a passionfruit crème brulee. I don't think I can even describe how good this food was but you can see the pics for a rough idea! The whole guest house is superb, right on the beach in one of the most spectacular spots in Ireland. I will be back, lots and lots. I cannot recommend this place enough! It had been unseasonably hot for Ireland so I had not packed adequately and purchased some shorts and t-shirts for the 85 degree weather. By the time we arrived in Keel I had worn all the clothes I purchased so we asked Elizabeth if there was a laundry nearby to wash them. She would not think of it, she took the clothes and washed them for us. I'm extremely particular about my laundry, I only air dry my clothes and Elizabeth was so accommodating to hang them outside to dry. The room was perfect and only finished second to the amazing views from our window. The beds were as comfortable as home, the beach is only 200 meters outside your door, and Elizabeth even got us a bottle of wine to enjoy as we watched the night fade over the ocean. We could not have asked for a more perfect experience.

It's actually one of my favorite places I've ever been to in my life. Being on the island is probably the romanticized Ireland that we all imagine. So just visualize, green hilly fields, views of the ocean, thick "cable knit" sweaters, a Leprechaun House, a bit of mist, a bit of sun and nice smiley people. We booked the b & b through the tourism office in Galway. To get to the island you need to take a bus in Galway to a ferry for a short ride out to the island. When you arrive there are small caravan cars that can take you where you need to go. It cost a few euros per person to take us to the bed and breakfast (b & b). Once we got there we found out that you can pay extra for dinner, which was salmon that night. I'd suggest having dinner there since there is only a pub across the street, which might not be open. Or if the weather is good, you could walk back to town for more choices. The breakfast was typical Irish: bread, jam, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, eggs, potatoes, tea, etc. Our room in the house had a full bathroom, a queen size bed, and balcony. The furniture in the house was homey and cozy, just like being in a friend's house. The island is only 8 miles long, perfect for walking or riding bikes. Unfortunately, the day we got there it was like a hurricane. We spent the afternoon and night in the bed and breakfast watching the wind. The weather cleared up the next day and we walked to Dún Aonghasa, a prehistoric fort. Truly amazing views. We got so taken away by the island that we got back later than expected and missed the last caravan to town to catch the ferry back to Galway. Fortunately, the owners are really nice people, the husband gave us a ride to town and told us about the island and how he and his wife started the b & b. IMPORTANT: The bank on the island is only open one day a week for a limited number of hours, I think Wednesday, so get some cash before going out there. My only regret, is that we didn't spend more time here. But that means I'll just have to go back! I'll upload pictures as soon Yelp lets me.

Our host, Moreen greeted us with a smile and offered to make us some tea while we unpacked. We also had 24 hour access to a cozy sunroom with as much tea and coffee we could drink as well as a small fridge in the dining area. The house is situated at the edge of Galway County, overlooking the Irish Sea. The closed village was less than a half mile walk down the road with a couple of restaurants and pubs to enjoy that serve food late. The bed was very comfortable and I slept so well hearing the sounds of the ocean pour into our room. Many B&B's don't take cards, so remember that when traveling through Ireland. This one did but be sure to pay the night before as sometimes the card machine takes a while to process your card. We paid with cash but I wanted to pass this helpful tip on.

The service we had from our waitress was amazing, the manager was a horrible individual with no idea of service relations. He rather acted as he knew there are no other choices on the island. I recommend you bring your food and make it yourself. Otherwise it is questionable if you get a decent meal at this location.

I am so glad that we decided to still go although it was not included in our game plan. This island was beautiful! I recommend renting a bike and biking the entire island and visiting all of the historic sites. We did not have a bed and breakfast booked or had any idea of where to dine and enjoy some Guinness. I am so happy to have found tigh ruari! The owners were extremely friendly and accomodating. Although there were no other tourists, the hosts at Tigh Ruari went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The food the cooked was delicious; I had fish and my husband had baby back ribs. They poured a great Guinness and we had lovely conversations. The rooms were nothing special; but they were clean and comfortable. I am so happy to have found this B and B and spent my evening drinking, eating and having great conversation here.

And her brown bread was the best we had in Ireland. I wish I could have some right now. The location is perfect for Galway, just a two minute walk over the bridge to the center of town. It has all the benefits of being right in the city, like walking to the pubs and shops and easy access to all the city's sights, but since it's just over the bridge, it's quiet too... and we were there on Friday and Saturday nights. Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom clean. We ate breakfast looking out on Mary's beautiful garden with Galway just beyond. It couldn't have been a better experience. We then had the perfect dinner of local food at Roadford House where we walked along stonewalls past cows, horses, and sheep to the intimate dining room overlooking pastures. This is one of the most chill places I've ever had the privilege of staying. The rooms are small but incredibly comfortable despite the dodgy plumbing. We booked in for three nights on a bed, breakfast and dinner package with 3 other couples on the bank holiday weekend in June. We had a blast. The food is magnificent. The breakfast alone sets the tome for the day and dinner is a delight. Nothing fancy. Just good wholesome food, beautifully presented and with well drilled and attentive staff. Relax at any time during the day in several day rooms with coffee or booze more or less on tap. Live music at night in the bar after dinner leading to a sing song ranging from Irish ballads to ABBA ensure a relaxing, no hassle weekend. During the day, there is so much to see and do in the beautiful Connemara countryside within easy striking distance of the hotel. Must see tourist destinations such as Kylemore Abbey and chic food trucks such as The Misunderstood Heron in nearby Letterfrack have to be experienced. Experience also the grounds in the immediate vicinity for a bracing walk in the afternoon or even a dip in the sea right next to the hotel. For the less adventurous, the hotel,has a heated outdoor swimming pool as well. Given that it was an all-in package it was incredibly good value in my opinion. Highly recommended. Will definitely return. It's a minimum 4.5 hour drive from Dublin so need at least 3 nights to get the full chillax experience.
