We came across The Bell one day when we were driving to Brecon Beacons from London. It was a bit late, and we needed a place for lunch, and, lo and behold, The Bell appeared, along with plenty of parking space, so we decided to stop here and grab a bit. We didn't know what to expect, to be honest, particularly given that I'm not a big fan of pubs, so we were pleasantly surprised by the the wide-ranging menu which had a combination of Welsh and Italian dishes. I chose the crayfish risotto while my friend went for the seafood casserole and both were delicious.
As it was the Jubilee weekend, the pub was also celebrating by having a cider festival. The one we had the Orchard Gold was rather pleasant tasting, and, at just under 5% abv, was the weakest one they had. It's a pity we still had a way to go though, as I'm sure we would have liked to try a few more!
I noticed that there seemed to be quite a few events going on at The Bell during the evenings, with pub quizzes and live music among a few of those listed. If you're in the area during the night, I think it'd be a great place to hang out. read more
