We saw the signs while on the road and decided to stop to get a light meal. I wanted boudin and this place did not disappoint. Before ordering, we walked through and made a mental note on what we wanted to get on the way back home. They have a wide variety of exotic meats like rabbit and quail. They also have stuffed pork chops, boudin, sausage and seasoned and stuffed briskets and roasts. The steam table counter was small. I got boudin and it was reasonably priced, spicy like I like it and a good serving for a quick snack. I also got boudin balls- didn't like those as much. Maybe if they were crunchier. They have a large menu of items to order and it was a little crowded, probably due to the holiday.

When in town for work or just passing through, I always have to stop at Best Stop. I was with a friend who ordered the omelette, and she loved it. I opted for the Nicky sandwich on toast with Lettuce, Tomato, and Spicy Mayo. I also had a side of Red beans. This was like a party in my mouth! Seriously. Best red beans I've ever had. I'm from New Orleans where we have a day of the week assigned for red beans and rice, so I have had a few red beans. These were the smokiest, creamiest, most flavorful beans I've ever eaten. The Nicky sandwich is boudin on bread. If it is on toast they call it a Tic Toc, so I guess technically I had a tic toc. Doesn't sound like much, but it is really good. I recommend it. Don't pass this place up. If you're not from the south, it is too spicy for you. Enjoy.

Any time I am in town, I will stop by Best Stop. Best boudin in the area. I usually just go for their regular boudin. It is slightly smoky, flavorful, and has a little kick to it. This last time I stopped by on the way to the airport, that's how much I needed some before my trip ended. Will always make the drive from my parent's place in Lafayette.

The Best Stop is my go-to spot for smoked boudin and it is hands down the best in the 337. Every time I'm in the area I stock up. Aside from the smoked meats and boudin they also have an extensive menu with po'boys and plate lunches that never disappoint. A true Louisiana gem.

I LOVE this place. Whenever I drive thru Louisiana I am stopping for boudin. I have NEVER been disappointed. I did try something new...chicken cracklings. Interesting. Service is always nice. Road trip must stop!

Service was friendly and they happily answered everything I asked. It's something about these Cajuns, they are always friendly! Food was delish, we got bought frozen boudin balls for later. To eat immediately was cracklin, chicken skin, and their pepper Jack boudin balls. Chicken skin was our fav but everything we got was delish.

We came to try this place since Billy's line was too long. They have both ready to eat food you can order from the counter or frozen/refrigerated food you can make at home. Ordered the boudin balls (4/5, good flavor but on the salty side if you are not used to Cajun food), boudin wraps (3/5, not too much filling, the spring roll wrap was over cooked, dry and hard to chew) and pork cracklings (3.5/5, good flavor but not as crispy and expected).

The Nicky Sandwich (boudin sandwich) is amazing! I'd definitely recommend getting the bread toasted, because there is a LOT of boudin on this thing. Some Cajun mayo was a nice touch as well.

Full meat market with lots of choices. You can order lunch-fried pork chops, boudin, fried boudin balls, cracklins, plus more. Frozen sausage & boudin also. Don't miss the Louisiana boudin- it's so good. Yum

I have been driving from the Southside of Lafayette for at least 11 years, periodically, for what used to be the best cajon products available. Today, and the last few visits, I have been so disappointed in the quality that I'm not sure I will continue to visit. I bought two hot links of boudin, two Boudin and pepper cheese wraps and a quarter lb of cracklins. I am enclosing photos of overcooked, dried, and old product I received. I believe all of what I bought might have been yesterday's food. Nothing purchased just after noon today was fresh. Their fresh boudin used to come fresh out of a steamer, moist and light in color, and delicious. Todays was dark in color, dry and appeared to have been roasting for quite some time under a heat lamp. Very dry inside and the skin was no longer soft but was brittle and broke while trying to eat the dry boudin. The wraps were also the same...dry with the inside boudin not at all moist. The crackling were cold and very dry and obviously old product. Considering the premium price paid for all three, I am bitterly disappointed in TheBest Stop.

Ask the Community - The Best Stop Supermarket

I bought Best Stop boudin at Rouses in Belle Chasse LA. Is it also sold at Rouses in Spanish Fort, AL ? We are from SE Alabama. Where else can I buy it ? Anywhere in the panhandle of Florida?

The Cajun Corner in Dothan makes their own and it's very fine.

Do they have frozen boudin balls to go?

    We do!! Thanks

Please settle a family debate. Is there liver in the boudin or not?

Yes. Well depending on who made it, the meat of choice and so on. There are a million ways to do it now days. Everyone has their own secret recipe. Kind of like gumbo. Anyway. Most of your pork based boudins have pork liver but not always. It can be… Read more

We did get there very early talking before 10am they were so sweet and amazing still letting us order what was available and answering any and many questions we had regarding food options. Service was 5 out of 5 for our first moment in LA everyone was so kind and made our journey so worth it. We got the crawfish fettuccine with the Crawfish dressing and regular rice and an amazing biscuit. (Honestly I could order a dozen just for the road back) All the food was a 10 out of 5 and so sad I don't live closer as I know I will be dreaming of this food for the rest of my life! They have other food there like a grocery store and really thinking of going back just to buy some for the freezer for when I miss it most. And always like to take a moment to talk about the restrooms and when going to places like that I don't expect the nicest bathroom but they shocked the mess out of me. By far the best restrooms. If there is a way to give a place more then 5 I would give them 10 out of 5 over all!!! Will be coming back!

Don't judge those people don't need flowers anymore. I reduce reuse and recycle. (I'm pandering shamelessly to the millennials and all their over judgy nonsense!) I digress. I was also out of fireworks and no stand along the Highway. I love a non traditional celebration. If u can find someone who can get into the moment and get all off season with u all the better. Facebook foreplay before the big day was on point. No memes or themes were off limit no matter how sacred the holiday. If that's not the fat, winged cherub shooting a dart I don't know what is. My partner in crime (we are still negotiating terms of endearment and I'm anticipating extra points for this one! PS if anyone has any "appropriate terms" for this stage of the "relationship" please feel free to leave them in the comments below. She often underestimates the powers of "my people".) She secured 2 bottles of prime Beaujolais nouveau 2021. They went down like a fat kid on a see saw. It is a mutual favorite (the wine to be clear. I was forbidden from mentioning other seasonally appropriate mutual favorites on pain of death) and we both sat and sipped as we watched the sun go down. One could suppose the passing of a step mom and grueling several weeks and covid recovery and work and stress over meeting her people and indecision on a fixed plan for the big day and kids in town and all underfoot and the cold and general fall lingering malaise would completely derail this occasion. Nothing could be further from the truth (another possible epitaph for the author. I'm on fire for 3 am). Good times and tears were had by all. It created a bittersweet parting/starting moment that was very pleasant on the palate. It was a brief "date" but we savored each moment. Lots has happened over the last several weeks. We are navigating the rapids together, me at the helm looking the part and her on the oars. I know I have a yelp "following" and I didn't want to disappoint on the big day. Working on bringing it every day because you never know when you'll be yelp reviewed. Peace out
