I grew up in Lafayette and grew up eating heberts. I've moved to Chicago and decided to place an order. I decided on the two day shipping which was around 16$ and then including the required dried ice was 18$. I spent around 120 on my entire order. What's a boneless stuffed chicken? Well. Just that. It's a deboned chicken that is stuff with a variety of dressings which could be based with alligator, rice, crawfish, shrimp, or cornbread just to name a few from memory. These chickens are absolutely wonderful to cook and delicious to eat. You basically put it into a pan, bake for an hour or so (check each one for the time and temp) and then boom, dinner for 4. I have friends and relatives back home in Chicago who have me bring these up frozen on a regular basis (and by the dozen I might add). It contained a tiny portion of andouille and lots of duck liver which was quite gamey to say the least. they should be ashamed of themselves, as there was no real duck meat just duck liver. This place ROCKS!!!! Every time I go back home to visit family,, I have to stop here and grab a few of their boneless whole chickens with shrimp stuffing. I buy the fresh chickens then do a deep freeze, wrap with plenty of newspaper, and duct tape for the flight back to San Francisco. They are known for their chickens, but also have stuffed ducks and turkeys or the ubiquitous Tur-Duk-en... a turkey stuffed with a duck that is stuffed with a chicken, oh AND any of the choices of dressings mentioned above. Their frozen gumbos are divine (Shrimp and Okra being my personal favorite) and once upon a time I would eat those crawfish dressing stuffed deboned chickens like it was my job. They ship all over the US (and probably world wide) and their claim to fame is the Turducken... yep, de-boned turkey, with your choice of dressing, stuffed with a de-boned duck (with your choice of dressing), stuffed with a de-boned chicken (your choice of dressing). The jalapeno cornbread crawfish dressing is excellent and so is the eggplant and brown rice. As an alternative to normal holiday fare, order early to insure you get exactly the special order you want in time to freeze well before shipping. Also, they have wonderful game meats, like quail, and rabbit, stuffed, marinated or not, along with every sausage you can imagine. The alligator pork is amazing. Best Boudin Balls ever! Every time we come to LA from CA we stop in here. My family has ALWAYS used Hebert's for specialty meats and stuffed chickens. I lucked out and married a man whose family also utilizes Hebert's, haha! The stuffed chickens are AMAZING! The boudin is always perfect. This is the only place we buy ribeyes, and my husband loves to buy other meat products from there since we have NEVER had an issue. The prices are extremely reasonable and the staff is always very polite. The entire facility is very clean and organized, and they offer many other products than just meats.
