I arrived at PetSmart Kearny at 10:10 for my 10am appointment. My groomer was Jessie. She said my…read moreservice would be between 3-4hrs. I mentioned that my dog did have some matting, Jessie automatically said I'll be charged the maximum for the matting. This was before even assessing my dog's fur. Therefore I was charged a 30min and a 15min dematting fee for a 12lb Shih Tzu/poodle. I returned to PetSmart Kearny at 2:30pm.(Over 4 hours later) I was told by Jessie, who at the time was in taking a new dog, that my dog is not ready because they had many dogs today. She suggested that I go pay and come back in 30mins for my dog. I took the receipt and that is when I noticed the double matting fees. I went back into the salon to question the extra charge on top of my dog not being ready in the 3-4hour window. I said I would like my dog now since she is not being cared for and I'm being overcharged. The other groomers in the salon except for Robyn started defending Jessie saying there were many appointments today. My dog is a twin and is not used to being away from her sister for a long periods of time. Hence why I heard her barking the entire time I was there. Jessie brought the manager who I believe is Natalie. I explained the situation to her and while speaking to her other groomers at the salon were jumping into the conversation. I felt like they were ganging up on me and holding my dog hostage. One groomer went as far to say that she will not argue with me when I wasn't even speaking to her. I said I will not pay for the service if my dog is not ready by 3pm. She went to the back to speak to Jessie and returned to say that my dog will be worked on now but I would have to step out of the salon. I agreed. Gladis is apparently another manager, when my sister called the store to get the name of the manager on duty, Gladis proceeded to tell my sister whom she did not know was connected to me that she just had to deal with a difficult customer and that's why she did not want to share the names of the managers. She eventually did because my sister quickly realized that she had to lie to get the names so I can make this complaint. I paid for the full service when Jessie finished my dog at 2:57pm. When I received my dog I asked Natalie for the name of the groomer that continuously jumped into my conversation with her and she refused to disclose the name. My experience today was like no other. I've brought both of my dogs there multiple times to be groomed by Robin and I've never experienced this extended wait time and I have never been double charged for matting. I feel discriminated against, bullied and this experience definitely caused my dog anxiety.

We can't thank Christian enough for everything he's done for us and Lola!…read more Lola is an extremely energetic Doberman, but she's also incredibly affectionate and a true Velcro dog. We adopted her from a rescue at almost 6.5 months old after she had spent her first several months without a stable home environment. We were struggling with some of her behaviors and initially tried in home lessons with another trainer. While we had a great experience, we realized Lola needed more consistent structure and training than we could provide while balancing our work schedules. That's when we found Christian at Blunt K9, and we're so glad we did! Before we even scheduled an evaluation, Christian and I exchanged several emails because I had a lot of questions. He was always thorough in his responses, and I never felt pressured or like he was trying to sell us on anything. Throughout Lola's five weeks of training, Christian regularly sent pictures and videos of her progress and kept us updated. Our friends and family followed along on Instagram and have been so impressed with how far she's come! If you're interested in seeing her progress, he has an Instagram Story Highlight dedicated to her training from beginning to end. The transition home was more difficult than we anticipated, so we ended up having our follow-up session much sooner than planned. That session made a huge difference, and things have been going so well ever since! Christian is still quick to respond whenever we have questions or want to share updates on Lola's progress, which we really appreciate. The improvements we've seen in our everyday lives have been incredible. Lola no longer needs a leash in the house, and we don't have to rely on her e-collar nearly as often indoors. Letting her outside used to be stressful because of her high prey drive and our neighbors' dogs, but now we don't even think twice about it! She also settles in her crate overnight (rather than taking over our bed, like she used to) and when we leave the house. Mealtimes are much easier, too, especially with our 2.5 year old eating at his little table. We still need to use a bark collar when she's crated, and we know training is something we'll need to continue working on, especially with outdoor distractions. But at just 10.5 months old, Lola has done a complete 180. Christian gave us the tools and guidance to continue working with her, and the difference in our day to day lives has been huge. We're so grateful for everything he's done for Lola and our family and would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for help with their dog!

As first-time dog owners, we tried our best to train Millie on our own, but it just wasn't cutting it. We constantly struggled with obedience and her inability to listen to us, intense pulling when we went on walks, jumping, getting mouthy - the list goes on and on. We felt defeated and insecure - but as soon as we talked with Jean and Linda at NJ Fix My Dog, we felt hopeful! They assured us Millie was the kind of dog that could be helped, and they'd be happy to step in.  Throughout Millie's 2 week bootcamp, we received frequent updates from Linda on Millie's progress, photos, and videos. We missed her but we knew she was in excellent care and learning so much everyday. After the 2 week bootcamp, Linda brought Millie home and we were in shock at how well-behaved, and well-mannered suddenly became. The day she came home, Linda spent over an hour with us going over what Millie learned and how to work with her going forward. She also gave us a full document with an assessment of Millie's overall behavior, how to continue to enforce what she learned, and how encourage her along the way.  Before bootcamp, we dreaded going for a walk with Millie because of how she behaved when she saw other dogs (pulling toward them, whimpering, getting anxious, etc.), and how she walked in general (tugging and zig-zagging the entire walk). Now she walks like an absolute DREAM! Right at our side, a nice little trot, ignores other dogs, people, squirrels - everything! We could walk her all day long now, and we look forward to all our walks! Millie used to ignore us when we called for her, or told her "no" if she was doing something we didn't like, but now her recall skills are excellent and she runs right over to us when we call her. She doesn't even try to attempt the bad behavior she used to do, like jumping, getting mouthy, etc., and instead happily relaxes. Her overall demeanor used to be just a little bit intense, always on the lookout for something to get into - but now she is so calm and seems at east with herself. Linda worked WONDERS! We learned so much about Millie through this process, and we truly feel comfortable with what Linda taught us to help Millie be her best self. With no change or help. We adopted our pup at 4 months and we were the 4th home she had been in. We didn't know much about her past but knew we were not giving her up again. She had SEVERE separation anxiety, resource guarding and a general stubborn personality to control everything. Our neighbors were requesting that she leave the apartment because of the meltdowns she would have for hours when we left. Steph truly saved us and our puppy. She spoke with us very honestly and openly about the training methods she used and her underlying focus was that nothing was unfair or hurtful to the dog. Honestly the anxious behavior our pup was showing slamming herself into the crate was by far more harmful. After a 2 week board and train our dog calm back with the ability to behave as a calm, family dog and in turn she was much happier in everyday living. Our neighbors were happy to have her stay and she's a very valued part of the family who can be included much more now that her anxiety is so much better. One of the most wonderful things is Steph is only a phone call away for ANYTHING or any question we have. Just because our board and train session is over her willingness to help is not. Our main goals were to address poor manners when people came over (jumping/barking), poor leash manners (pulling/leading the walk/leash aggression for one of them), and all around general behavior training.
