David and team brought this connection together! This venue is absolutely gorgeous. From the moment you walk towards the door, you see at the corner of the building, the unassuming yet illuminating Zen sign presence. The foyer greets with such high beautiful ceilings (and walls) with the artistic lighting. There are two other space to enter. If you continue straight, you enter a much larger area that has on its walls, wonderfully large paintings of flowers evoking both energy yet calmness. I discovered that Jeff, the owner had painted the walls and can see the nice brushstroke patterns along with the majority of the flower paintings. We were for the most part in this area which is shaped like a gigantic "L" and you would go further in and to the bottom foot area find a large bar awaiting. There was also a table of desserts and a musician. There were the hors d'oeuvre standing tables yet with nice high seats along with the comfy chairs. We had our networking, food, drinks, and murder mystery here. I've been to Zen many times in the past for several different non-profit/charity events and always so well done. This room depending on the size of attendees is an ideal spot for these types of reception/activities. If you had gone over to the right from the foyer, you would enter a huge space that has on the complete opposite side some large screen that projector is displaying and lighting. There are tables with seats and this brings back memories of when the company I worked for held their holiday parties here and this would also double up as a dance floor! There's another bar right underneath the staircase, and if you walk up the stairs, not only do you have a great view of this room (and if you were trying to search for someone dancing, walk up the stairs and gently look for your man) it also has a private suite that can act as the bridal room since such great furniture, a kitchen and bathroom complete with shower (so if you start getting cold feet, you can turn the heat on your feet)! Not only does Zen have these different space and levels, they even have an exterior space, their own zen garden. I've never noticed it before since other times I've been here, it would be dark and couldn't see OR since it was December, they had tents with heaters. There are many different options to use this beautiful place and Jeff is extremely down-to-earth and inviting. Besides hosting such fancy events, he also has hosted various dance parties. If you or the organization/company/group you identify with have a need for up to 350 people, this would be ideal!

Stop looking for wedding venues!…read more This is the place. I can NOT say enough good things about Danielle and her staff at The Duncan Estate. Here's my experience: I got married Dec 1st, 2018. I wanted a Christmas themed wedding. It poured rain the day I got married. Literal buckets and buckets! But because of the affordable price of the venue I was able to rent heaters and sides for the tent that was already provided. The last thing a bride wants is rain on her wedding day although they say it's good luck. Danielle and her staff busted tail with my wedding planner to make sure everything was magical. The rain didn't affect any of the intimate moments we wanted of our day. I swear that this is because of Danielle's organization and coordination with my planner. Rehearsal dinner issue: I had a lot of trouble with the first few venues we chose to do the rehearsal dinner at. Communication was not a priority to them and I was really struggling. Luckily Danielle was there. I contacted her in a frenzy 2 weeks prior to our event (don't wait that late!). She not only handled our wedding, but we got to have our rehearsal dinner there too. Which made it so nice to not have to change scenery with so many people. We had it catered right there on the property after our rehearsal. It made things so easy on us. I recommend asking if you can cater the rehearsal here as well if it's an option. It was very affordable and also allowed us to feel better about the big day. COMMUNICATION: Of course I had no idea what I was doing when I showed up to look at the Duncan Estate, but from the time we signed our agreement to even the week after, Danielle was there. She sent me so many resources to help me budget, plan, even questions and things I had not thought of. She answered all of my emails in a timely manner and communicated with me often. This is so CRUCIAL when you are looking for a venue. FINANCIALLY: Trying to save money? Of course you are. Weddings are costly. The Duncan Estate was so affordable! Includes table, chairs and a tent in your price! She also gives discounts for different weekends depending on supply and demand. I think this is important to know because this helped us afford sides and a heater for the tent. She was very considerate of us having to rent these for a December wedding. THE LOOK: But I want my wedding to look phenomenal! Of course you do and since Danielle cares about all those details she has dedicated so much time and effort to preserving the Duncan Estate and also to making sure your details are the way you want them. Danielle spent a lot of time answering my questions and going over the events of my day. She spent 2 hours with me, the groom, and the coordinator combing through every detail a couple of weeks prior. It made the day of events move as smooth as they could. I can't imagine not having someone so organized with all the rain delays and junk we had with the weather on our wedding day. The bottom line is you can't control outside circumstances like the weather or companies with bad communication. But you can control who you choose to handle your special day. Choose the Duncan Estate. I promise Danielle will make sure your wedding is everything you want and more.

The venue was perfect in terms of its layout and space. An ideal place that ensures coziness of everyone. The layout consists of a main hall with a deck and another space for the reception. The deck was a perfect idea for the bride to walk down the stairs and into the aisle. The main hall was small, but it was enough to fit about 150 people with room for other stuff. The side room was turned into the reception with arranged tables. I loved the high ceilings and the bricked and stained decors. It was a warehouse feel indeed, but a newly renovated one. The bathroom locations were convenient and so was accessibility in the entire venue. It is beautiful and perfect not just for weddings, but any special occasion.

With the Edison bulbs strung overhead, a wedding here would be very nice but be sure to ask about how long and how loud you can play music. There are clear garage doors that separate the indoor space from the covered patio area. They can't be opened without a city permit, so if you want to use them you'll need to look into this. The bathrooms are large. There is no refrigerator, but there is what I think was a warming cart, a sink, shelves, and a rolling cart in the kitchen area. Parking is tight. When we arrived, the tables inside and out as well as the chairs were covered with pollen. They don't provide any cleaning supplies so we had to get our own and do the cleaning ourselves. When we viewed the property the day before, I thought for sure everything would have been cleaned as part of the price. Wrong! As we were cleaning the chairs they also had grease buildup so they hadn't been cleaned/sanitized in a while. We actually needed more tables but didn't find out until later that there were plenty of them in the upstairs area. The worst part of the evening was the person on duty. He was visibly unhappy to be there and unfriendly. He would only look at us but not speak. When my husband asked about trash bags (you might want to bring those, too) he threw a couple of them his way. As we were cleaning up, I apologized for the delay and he didn't even look at me. And then as we were leaving and I asked if we had gotten everything, he nodded and slammed the gate in our face. We were dumbfounded. I hope the owners realize this doesn't make for good business. I don't like leaving mediocre reviews unless they are deserved, and this one was.
