The Birdsnest is hands down my favorite antique store. It's got such a fun vibe and offers so many interesting and unique items to browse. They have one of the widest selections of colorful vintage glass including Blenko and Empoli decanters. Prices are incredibly fair and the staff are wonderful. They're currently doing some re-arranging in the shop and have opened an attic full of vintage clothing. There are also sections dedicated to books, records and toys. I could spend hours in here going through each section and it's a good thing I live far away or I'd be too tempted to keep adding to my glass collection. Came to The Birdsnest a few months ago as the SO and I have been on a huge collecting spree. What are we collecting? Uranium glass! We were in Modesto and found this place through Yelp, and what a gem! Located off Orangeburg sitting on the corner of a strip mall, The Birdsnest is a hub of all things antique, vintage, ancient, OLD stuff for sale by different people. It's like a swap meet except the people aren't manning their sections because The Birdsnest handles it all. We came about 30 minutes before closing the first time, and didn't (couldn't) finish browsing. So we made a plan to revisit earlier so we could spend as much time looking at every knick and every knack displayed. We ended up walking away from a set of cups, and returned an hour later to grab them because they were too cool to give up. Whoever rang us up is super nice and approachable. There are even some stalls that are all on discount that I had a lot of fun looking through. Most of the items do seem reasonably priced too. This is my new favorite spot for retail therapy! If you love to go thrifting, and find some unique antiques and cool finds this is your kind of place!! Their selection is very large, and you're guaranteed to find something you fall in love with. Downstairs they have all their antiques, trinkets, Jewelry, and other items, and upstairs is all their clothes. The moment I walked in I was greeted very nicely by the ladies behind the front counter. They answered all of my questions, and I ended up having a really nice conversation with all of them, and they very naturally made me feel safe and at home here. I signed up for their free rewards program cause like I said before I will be back, and I can't wait to bring my mom and some of my friends who share my love of thrifting and antiquing! Excellent eclectic thrift store with good stuff in it. I could browse in there for hours! They were very nice to take some clothing off my hands and they took it out of my trunk for me. I happen to see this little shop driving down Orangeburg and told my car group to stop so I could check it out! It was a cute little shop with lots of hidden gems. I was actually on the look for a pair of gloves for a High Tea party. I didn't find any unfortunately but I did find nice paintings and little Knick knacks for my room. I did end up finding a dresser/vanity that fit my room perfectly! I wasn't planning on buying furniture that day but I made the purchase because I couldn't pass it up! The salesperson and owner were very nice. I didn't have my van to pick it up that day unfortunately. The salesperson said I could purchase it and hold it up to 2 weeks to pick it up. It worked out for me because the next day was Sunday and they were open! The salesperson helped us get it out along with the owner. I plan on shopping here again soon! read more

First time ever walking into this place at 4:40 today as soon as I walked in the lady says "Oh were actually closing down already." We are closing early at 5 today but you can come back Tuesday. Hired them to handle my parents large estate sale. Promised they handle everything, including clean out. One week before sale she asked me to provide dumpster. Then when sale was over everything was supposed to be cleared out. Not! there was a lot left behind that I had to clean out and dispose of Including garbage thrown into the closets and bathtubs. Not to mention friends and neighbors who attended indicated they were rude. On the last day she changed $10 bags to $15 and when people came out the price had changed. read more

Drove an hour to get to the store. We were cutting it close thanks to traffic, but we made it at 5:45, so in time before they closed at 6:00. When we pulled up, an employee saw us and proceeded to lock the door. We went up to the door and a man and a woman poke their heads out and told us sorry but they already turned everything off so we were out of luck. I've worked retail before and I understand how it is when customers come in right before closing. But it wasn't past closing and we were looking to buy, not just loiter around. It's too bad. Onto the store itself; if you haven't been to this store, I would recommend coming. They have a good mix of vendors and we always find something when we shop here. read more

I remember this place way back (think 70's) when it was Paul's Rexall Drug store. I'd pass it on my way to school everyday. The place has changed and is set up like individual rooms in a house for all the different vendors. A table out front caught my daughter's eye so we went in. There was a variety of nice smells (potpourri and different things) There were some rooms that were like a bedroom (one looked Victorian) there were kitchen setups too. But, our favorite was one that was like a garden had a sign that said my porch or something like that, there were cricket sounds and water sounds with fountains and lighting...it was like evening outside...we browsed the parts of the store that were open...We weren't offered anything to drink (the website says wine, though we don't drink) but I didn't see any tea or anything else...there was a sign on the refridgerator that said you could have water and ice...but I didn't see any cups or anything. This isn't a deal breaker, but I wouldn't offer these things if it's not really offered or if they pick and choose who they offer things to...We were more or less left alone to browse and told there was more towards the back where we'd missed...There were lots of nice things, good quality pieces but it certainly isn't a thrift store, but rather a antique store. There were select pieces that were quite affordable (we picked up a table out front for $10) There was also a bookshelf that said free...it was either the bookshelf or the encyclopedias...(or maybe both?) so that would be quite a nice thing for someone though we don't have space for it... Overall, good...the people working weren't particularly friendly (they weren't rude though either) just not engaging...though I suppose letting us browse at our leisure was good instead of breathing down our neck while we looked around. We'll probably go back as it's in the neighborhood and we're big fans of shopping local. read more

Great place to find something wonderful!! My friend took me here this week & she found a darling little grey dresser. I liked it so much I went back & found a cute antique looking dresser that had been painted coral red, it's in great shape & absolutely adorable in my bedroom!! All kinds of dressers, tables, painted chairs in fun colors, glassware, dishes, teacups, lamps, purses, knick-knacks & fun stuff to decorate your house or room with!! i've been on a thrift store rampage lately and wouldn't have found this one if my friend from LA hadn't found it online. even though it's on McHenry, it's really hidden away (in the tiny strip mall behind the Fisherman's Galley like the other review mentioned). we decided to go check it out. we figured since it was called an antique mall... it must be big. the place is massive. there are hallways and rooms everywhere. it's one of those places with tons of booths rented to various vendors, all very well curated, so there is something for everyone's tastes. the booths are about half new stuff half vintage/antique (which is what i'm really looking for). you need a good hour or more to browse through everything; but there is so much to see! furniture, dishware, collectibles, jewelry, clothing, household items... i was in heaven. the prices are a little all over the place because of the different vendors, but i found a couple items i couldn't live without and luckily, the whole booth was 50% off. they have a cute little set up at the front of the store that has a little seating area under beaded garlands with a popcorn machine! and like the other review mentioned, there is this adorable and most importantly, friendly little pomeranian that is shaved to look like a mini lion. omg. what is this magical place?!? is this real life? read more

A neat gem that's hidden away in an obscure location. We would have never seen it if not for going to the Fisherman's Galley. The prices are very reasonable and low overall - they have cool furniture, nice handmade items, nic nacs, clothes, and household items. The diversity makes the store much more interesting then standard antique faire. I'm not really sure how some of the items are being sold for so cheap (due to consignment costs) but then again - I'm not complaining. There was also cookies and candy in nearly every room to snack upon and a mascot - a little pomerenian with a lion mane hairdo. The building is really cool with endless rooms to peruse - it makes one wonder what was here before. The owner does follow around and fuss a little too much - I just chalked it up to that she is eager to help. read more

Cool place to visit the past, everything is priced right at retail or above. You might find some treasures but I know that this place also does estate sale facilitating, which are also overpriced. This business has rooms for rent and almost all of the items are from persons that rent a spot, I'm sure there rent is too high hence there items must be overpriced. The business parking lot is full of holes so watch your tires and there is a Ln audio shop right next store, so the walls will be shaking while you shop!
