What's not to love? Not sure I even want to share this place with anyone else who might not appreciate it, but I hv benefitted from it and I hope this helps others find it as well. My friend brought me here, saying, if I'm going to try any hostel, anywhere in the world, it should be here or his other favorite - in Wales. It is a gorgeous autumn in Colorado, so Breckinridge it is. How incredibly fortunate for me that my first hostel was here. I'm constantly reminded that not every hostel is so nice. What a lovely place. Well appointed, so clean - which is all important in this pandemic time. Everyone is friendly. We stayed in a 6-bunk room with a total 4 ppl in it. The less agile (that'd be me) was lucky to get a lower bunk (not sure how that works, we lucked out that not all the berths were full!) The other two ppl were solo travelers, one from South America, the other from Russia. They were friendly and polite. We all did our own thing; I crashed out early, so I wasn't bothered at all that another guest had to pack luggage for an early flight out the next day. There are outlets at each bunk, even USB chargers And a lamp which was a necessity when hvg to walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I thought the room was comfortable; temps got down into the 30's overnight but I was comfortably cozy in my bed with its duvet; there were extra blankets in the closet if needed. My friend thought it too warm but he runs that way, but he slept thru the night fine too. A word about the bedding: mine was fine, clean, smelled clean. But one of the other bunks had yellowed bedding - with stains. I presume it was washed and cleaned just looked used, and if you got there in daylight or with all the lights on, one would hv seen it, but I didn't till the next morning when we were getting ready to leave and that might've bn off putting. I came down early, just before sunrise The general areas were at a comfortable temp. Wasn't time yet for breakfast, but some kind soul had already started the coffee. I went for a walk, took some pix, came back once guests had started to straggle in. What a friendly, informative bunch! My friend tells me that's most hostel-goers. And the food was pretty good, pancakes, eggs, cereal; I got the oatmeal and an English muffin. The coffee smelled really good. And I was so happy they had powdered hot chocolate too! Special mention must be made of Belage (sorry, may hv misspelled) but he is a welcoming, knowledgeable host and made us feel at home. If you come here, please contribute positively. I worry that the wrong sort would detract from such a lovely accommodation and experience. And yeah, I'll hv to keep in mind that almost certainly other hostels aren't like this, but it is now my gold standard. read more

If you are looking for cheap with no other stipulations, then this is your spot. We had a private room, which was on the first floor and vastly smaller and less nice than my friend's private room on the 2nd floor despite having almost no difference in what we paid. Plumbing is whack, heating was impossible to control, noise from upstairs woke us up, was nearly impossible to find someone working the front desk when we needed them. The bivvi is an excellent place for a solo traveler to feel at home. The minute you walk in you know you picked the right place to stay. Very convenient and close to the bus stop, you appreciate it the most on ski days. Lol Also, Russell was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Such a great hostel! Well decorated, plenty of amenities, perfect location. We stayed one night in a 6 man bay. The bunk beds are very cool and it was nice that each room had its own bathroom and shower. We were a party of three and there were two other guests in our room. One of the other guests was in bed with the lights out by 8pm which was rather frustrating because we felt like we had to tiptoe around the entire evening. The staff was very friendly and gave great recommendations of places to eat and things to do. There was a small bar inside the hostel with three beers on tap. The back deck was amazing with a fire pit and a hot tub. We would definitely return, but maybe get a private room next time. read more

Cash and card accepted. Bivvi is a super nice hostel located within walking distance from downtown Breckenridge. This is probably the nicest hostel I've ever seen! There is a outdoor jacuzzi, a common hang out area, beer in the check-in area, a room to put all the ski/snowboard gear if you don't want to keep it in your room, lockers in the rooms in case you stay with randoms, charging stations and personal lights in every bunk... I stayed here with 5 other friends so we didn't need to use the lockers but it was nice they were available. 2 other friends had their own personal room and that room was nice as well. (didn't have bunk beds and was more like a suite) Breakfast is included every morning from 7:30-9:30 am and it was delicious! (eggs, pancakes, hash browns, fruit, etc.) The trash is also picked up from the rooms every day and new towels are available for pick up near the doors to the jacuzzi. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again if I go back to Breck. read more

Had a great first trip to Breck with a friend here at the Bivvi. Rooms are clean and spacious, the lobby is super warm and inviting with the fireplace and beers on tap. The breakfast came in handy the days we boarded- bagels, toast, yogurt, homemade granola, etc. We ended up meeting some great people at the Bivvi that we snowboarded with and it really made the entire trip. Russ is AWESOME and really went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed are stay. We will definitely be back! read more

I was pleased with my stay at The Bivvi. The place is in a great location, with easy access to top rated hiking trails and to the downtown area of Breckenridge. The hostel itself is absolutely beautiful with an amazing view of the mountains. The community was also a nice addition, and I am glad to have stayed here while traveling solo - I had great conversations with interesting people from various walks of life. With that said, I was to check-in late and informed them of this. Balazs (who seems like a genuinely good dude) confirmed, however the worker that was on-call that evening neglected to leave me a key to get in. I called a few times, but no answer, so I ultimately slept in my car. I called again in the morning - no answer. It wasn't until 15-30 minutes after they officially opened that I got the overnight worker on the phone, who noted that he felt bad, and saw the missed calls - why he didn't call me back is beyond me. I also learned through another source that he was actually awake when I was calling - drinking on the back porch with some of the people staying there - and that at least some of them could hear the phone ringing. On a later date, I observed this worker sleeping for about an hour near the front desk in the early evening. I think it says something that even 3 stars were given - I think most might have given 1 star after being forced to sleep in the car. However, the Bivvi seems like a genuinely good place who, unfortunately, has a worker who seems to not place much value in his job. read more

Late post! Met up with a few friends here a couple years back. It was in a perfect location to catch a shuttle to go to Breckenridge for snowboarding/skiing. They clearly avoid posting photos of the shower for room 205 and you can see why. I'm sure as hostels go this is a great place to stay but we were looking for a nice hotel room. read more

Be careful if you are considering in canceling your reservation in this location, they will steal a 25% fee even when you choose "free cancelation" on your reservation. Unfortunately, I was forced to cancel 2 days after reservations were made due to a family emergency, well to my surprise i was charged $100 (25%) nonrefundable for cancelling 2 WEEKS PRIOR to my trip. I called the property and the rude man denied any charges on their end and that I needed to contact booking.com. I called and argued with booking.com, supposedly they were trying to negotiate with property management with no success. Good Luck! read more

Extremely frustrated by the customer service here. I made a reservation 2 weeks ago and was looking to cancel the next day. I have called in 5 times and left a voicemail each time and followed up with emails as well. I have yet to receive any sort of communication from them. There is nowhere on their site to cancel your reservation either. Nobody picks up the phone or replies to their company email. It almost feels like they are trying to get me to have to pay the full amount of my reservation and not just the deposit amount. Highly recommend booking elsewhere - this company is extremely unprofessional. read more

This place is the best. Decorated to the classy mountain chic extreme. Good music and good beer on tap. Decently priced rooms considering the area. The staff is fantastic and always good for a nice conversation, advice about the town, or stories. They were so good to us on our honeymoon! We will absolutely be back. I can't recommend this place enough! I had so much fun staying here, and found the location to be perfect (next to the mountains and downtown). I met lifelong friends in my dorm, hot tub, and common living room - I skied with them, I drank with them, I laughed with them. Leaving this place today is like leaving your favorite grandparents house after Christmas. The Bivvi is one of the best things to come to Breckenridge honestly. I'm a Breck alumni who hasn't been back in about 5 years until now, and I can honestly say The Biv is one of the better now memories I have of this amazing town. The staff treats you like family, the rooms and beds are extremely comfortable. We had a private room, which I'd recommend over a shared. My boyfriend and I now can say we have great new friends due to the encouraging and non awkward social atmosphere in common areas. You know you're in good company when total strangers ask eachother "Hey, want to go to dinner?" The only thing is it's not a super quick walk to main street, but the bus comes by and you can always drive right down to the Dredge lot. All in all...I hope The Bivvi stays here forever. read more

During my solo snowboarding trips to the mountains I've stayed at hostels in Tahoe, Reno, Breckenridge, and this one is hands down the best one I've stayed at. Rooms are clean, the environment is laid back, they've got a hot tub, and the complimentary breakfast was great. Keep it up! read more

Stayed here with my sister for one night before hiking Quandary. Cute decor, spotlessly clean, nice hot tub and deck area with a nice scenic view. Staff very nice and helpful. They have a complimentary breakfast in the morning which we were going to miss since we were waking up super early for the hike. When staff heard we were leaving early he offered to gather a few grab and go breakfast foods for us (which ended up being this really tasty homemade granola) and gave it to us the night before. We weren't sure about the whole "hostel" concept but now we know and we like it! The Bivvi in Breckenridge is situated within walking distance to Main Street. Instead of paying for rooms, you pay for beds. We got nine beds for $29.00 each which included breakfast for everyone. Our group of nine enjoyed the hot tub in the evening, fire pit on the deck, comfy beds (bunk bed stacked three high) and breakfast. They also had all the tea, coffee and hot cocoa you could drink. No better place to stay in Breck! My boyfriend & I were visiting Breck for the first time during closing weekend of the 2016-2017 ski season and our time at The Bivvi made our stay that much more enjoyable. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I'm a total clean freak and was very impressed with the cleanliness of The Bivvi, not typical of any hostels I've been to. Big bonus to have access to a hot tub, fire-pit, free parking, quick walk/bus ride into town, and a grill to top it all off! Great rates for both shared & private rooms. Admittedly we had booked two beds in a "sixer" shared room and upgraded to the "Aspen Alley Suite upon arrival (thanks to Brian at the front desk) to have a bit more room/privacy. Even though we were in a private room, we still got a feel for the awesome sense of community that comes with being in a hostel like The Bivvi. Between dips in the hot tub and the free, yes FREE, breakfast we got to share ski stories and mingle with other Bivvi guest. Although at times I did find it a little off putting when other guest would smoke weed around the community space, but I guess that's part of the Colorado experience! The style and design of the cabin in impeccable, I wanted to move in! Can't wait to return for ski season next year! read more

The vibe is chill, hosts are awesome and the joint is just a sweet place to lay your head. Clean, lights & outlets by every bed, in my room at least. Fireplace and hot tub on deck. My stay at the Bivvi far exceeded my expectations. I had never stayed at a hostel in the states before and I needed a spot to stay while searching for housing after moving to breck. I was treated like family right away! Russ is a super cool host and helped me settle in so nicely after the long 3 day drive from Florida. Now I recommend this cozy cabin to everyone. I booked the Bivvi on a whim when my winter plans fell through. Upon reading the great reviews I decided to take the plunge and booked 8 nights. I was traveling solo and had never stayed at a hostel. My first night I went to bed early after a long day of traveling. I slept in a 6 person bunk. The beds were comfy, but rooms were tight which can make it hard to get ready in the mornings. I slept on the top bunk which was 3 beds height. In the future I would definitely try to get a lower bunk due to inconvenience of getting down in the morning/middle of night when you have to pee or get water. Breakfast was great. Eggs and home fries, pancakes and sausage, oatmeal, fresh fruit and yogurt. A great way to start the day. Coffee is brewed in the morning and there is tea and hot chocolate available all day. The bus was located just outside and takes you to the Beaver Run lift in about 10 minutes. By the second day I had made great friends who I felt I knew much longer. The Bivvi has beers on tap and an awesome staff who are all very personable. After skiing you can expect to be surrounded by awesome ppl looking to have a good time. I would definitely recommend the Bivvi and look forward to going back some day. The cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in. I've been here twice and can't praise this place enough. It's located close to downtown and the Breckenridge lifts, and if you don't feel like walking, you can take a short ride from a shuttle that operates right outside the front doors. There's a no shoe policy so you get to see everyone walking around in their socks. Prices are way competitive AND you get free breakfast. The breakfast is so much better than what you get at those cheapy motels. There's even a pantry where travelers contribute snacks/drinks to share with others. Hot tub outside, beautiful view of the mountainside, and helpful staff. This is my top choice for the area. You can also book a private room if you don't feel like sharing with others. Extremely delighted to have stayed here. The staff who lives on the premises is absolutely awesome- very friendly and they cook a killer hot breakfast for you. I am a clean freak and I was so comfortable staying here. The sheets are clean crisp and white. The bathroom was clean and comfortable- not one of those that you have to wear sandals in the shower, the bed was more comfortable than the one I sleep on at home. The pillows felt brand new. Only complaint was I stayed in room 105 and the balcony view was just a hill of grass/mud/snow- no actual view. But I was very pleased. The hot tub was nice but the motor of it powered on and off all night but could be tuned out with a tv show- you can smell the chemicals though; that didn't bother me. The room was very pleasant. I loved the cleanliness, the food, the fire place and the view from the living room area. I would def recommend and I'd stay there again. read more

This place is awesome! Breakfast is included in your room price (and it's great!) the staff is awesome and the building, well, it's like staying in a millionaire's mountain getaway lodge. It is a hostel, which means you share space with other cool people, but that is part of the travel experience. I was in tears as I walked out the door. I didn't want to check out, I wanted to stay forever! This is by far the most amazing hostel that I have ever stayed at. The staff is beyond wonderful, the accommodations are clean, comfortable and the vibe is refreshing. There is a bus stop right outside (free bus!) that connects you to anywhere in Summit County. I've been here a few times in the last 3 years, this being my first review. The place is clean, the bunk rooms are reasonably priced, and walking distance or bus to town. That's why I stay there while in Breckenridge. Other than that, the staff is quite rude. The breakfasts are cooked by people that don't know how to cook and I question the food safe handling practices. The bathrooms appear to be cleaned daily but they don't replace any soap or towels, best to bring your own. If you put any food in the community fridge (labeled or not) it may go missing. Random sketchy guests asked me for food and cigarettes. Staff is only present if you buzz a bell and they come up from the basement apartment. They tape your room key to the front door if arriving after 9 pm. If your going to be out skiing/biking/hiking/working all day, then yes, it's a good option. If I could afford something else I wouldn't stay here. read more
