I got my hair done for my engagement shoot and Michael did an amazing job! The products that he used smelled amazing and I truly felt pampered the whole time. I can tell he took great care at each step from shampooing to the application of products to the blow drying. I asked for beach waves and he made sure to explain how the hair would be curled and if I wanted that specific look. I had the shoot on a hot day and my hair kept well throughout. It was curled tight enough that at the end of the day it had a nice lived in "beachy" look. I went across the street after my appointment to pick up some snacks at the grocery store and a stranger gave me a compliment and said that I looked absolutely cute and that I should be in a photoshoot. Hands down one of the best salon experiences I have ever had. This was my first blow out ever and I can absolutely say after this experience it won't be my last! I have very curly hair and struggled to manage it until i got a very mild Brazilian Blowout to wear my hair natural and have it be less frizzy (and use less product). I have a fear putting heat on it because every time I have gotten it professionally done in the past , my curl pattern took 2-3 weeks to bounce back after regular washes and some curls never bounced back. Not this time!! My curls bounced back immediately after the first wash post Blowout with the King! I ask a lot of questions about the process in the salon and Michael was very accommodating and took the time to learn about my lifestyle , day-to-day scheduling, and how to best incorporate loving my hair and taking care of it and which products will and won't work for me . My blowout lasted over a week (probably could've lasted longer tbh it was still in tip top shape when i washed it) and I only passed a straightener through it to touch it up and wrapped it a silk bonnet to help keep it straighter longer. I read another review recently on his page (have to give him props for sharing) and it made me feel more confident that I wasn't alone. In short, I LOVED my blowout but wasn't blown away by Michael. Michael was not a big conversationalist with me- I felt like I had put him off or annoyed him in some way when I arrived at the salon. He seemed confused by my arrival even though I booked online and wasn't very welcoming. He was very short and to the point- what do you want done to your hair? I left wondering if I didn't fit his "mold" of a young 20 something that books blowouts with him. For this reason, I am not sure I will go back because I don't feel that he made the effort to connect with me. After reading all the reviews about how friendly he was, I am wondering where the disconnect is. But again, the wash and the blowout was truly amazing. I felt like a QUEEN leaving. My blowout lasted several days. Best blowout in RVA hands down. Just wanted to share my experience so maybe if you go in with the expectation that he isn't warm and fuzzy, the experience will be better! The blowout was amazing, he knew exactly how to style my hair to fit my personality and look.
