I have had no problem with the stylist to be clear. I called them multiple times during business hours the day before it was going to ice. They didn't answer me so I was like okay guess I'll just go. Then called me before my appointment and let me know they cancelled my appointment without even speaking to me and gave the time to someone else after THEY couldnr answer? She was rude and short. They are not that worth it especially with their pricing. Better salons without rude customer service is available. Best to go elsewhere. read more

I LOVE Salon del Sol. Lydia is my hair stylist and she always does an amazing job with my cuts and colors. I totally trust her and don't give her super tedious guidelines as to what I'm looking for (I prefer to leave it to the professionals) because I know she will make magic. She does a great job and I always leave feeling super confident and refreshed. Lydia's usually booked out for several months so if you want to schedule with her, it's something to keep in mind. Cannot comment on their other services, but do not go for nail services. My "appointment" took 2 hours and at the end I still had my previous gel polish on 4 nails. Cuticles were barely touched. The gel polish that was put on wasn't put on evenly and there were bubbles and strange streaks. It cost $70 with tip and I spent an additional $20 at cvs to get supplies to remove the polish it was that bad. I regularly get manicures from a place in the city and it has never taken this long nor cost this much...and the place I normally go is high end. Only reason why I came here was I thought I had a gift card to use, turns out the sender of the card used it for themselves (not the location's fault). Wish I had the 2 hours of my life (and the $90) back. read more

They booked me an appointment with a "Designer" which I thought would give me an amazing experience. At the beginning it was enjoyable however when I told the person to please be care when brushing my hair bc my hair is starting to fall out she took that in consideration for about 2secs and continued with the hard brushing. Then when she looked at the brush there was so much hair in the brush and she goes, it's not a lot of hair. I just about died and wanted to jump out of that chair before she even started to cut my hair. I was on edge the entire hair cut. I didn't understand why she would cut my hair on my part when I every other stylist cut it down the middle. My hair cut was awful. Part of my cut was longer than other parts of my hair. You could clearly see a chop on the same side in my hair where it's longer than the front. It didn't flow at all. I can't believe I had to pay over $90 for a horrible hair cut. Thank god I didn't get it colored. I do not recommend at all. I went there expecting a high end experience and I got the complete opposite. Do not go here. read more

My usual places are closed or frantically still trying to rebook people and something had to be done about the extreme mermaid hair I had been cultivating. The salon had great availability and saw me same day. The place itself was beautiful and sparkling clean. This place is a well-oiled machine regarding covid precautions. As for my hair, Sherry is a queen and held me down with exactly what I asked for. She took my extremely thick, long jacked up hair to a cute short layered cut. Lauren made significant mistakes in my highlighting and only after the fact when I went back for a corrective appt, she had a multitude of reasons as to why the original requests were "complicated" and couldn't be achieved. However none of which she expressed PRIOR to attempting the service . In fact she initially reiterated on point her understanding of what I was asking for and fully acted as though it was simple and not at all did she express it was "complicated" until I had to call her out for the total erroneous mess she made of my hair ! She did not take it in stride she was unprofessional and rude and not at all understanding of how frustrating it is to be charged close to 200 dollars for someone to totally mess up your hair when she could have just as easily said she didn't know how to do it in the first place . Corporate refunded my money but only after being totally biased in their view of the entire situation and showing little to no objectivity in how their staff handled the situation in totality. In talking yo Corp contact Alex Filer she would make inflammatory statements towards the entire situation when I spoke with her such as, "it's just hair", " we all have bad days" and "we all can mis understand ". When asked specifics for example I asked about the owner she said " the owner isn't female" and "she's sitting right across the hall from me and her door is open you are on speaker so she can hear this " as if to ensure to express their approval to condone the very behavior that was the subject of my call and diminish it entirely. She was very dismissive and and took every opportunity to be condescending when she could but tried to hold herself as a professional who would see that this situation was addressed Will never return to Salon Del Sol and will continue to tell everyone and anyone of this experience to deter any business elsewhere read more

Went back after several years of going elsewhere. Ferran, master stylist, did save my hair from a previously bad highlight experience that caused my fine thin hair to significantly break off ! She definitely knows what she's doing but the cost of this salon is outrageous!! It was almost $400 to treat and correct the damage but worth the cost to repair the damage and properly highlight my hair!I have been back for a cut and highlights again and paid over $300. I don't know how often I can keep that up! They've redone the shop and tried to make it more chic and modern which does look nice! But again the cost is unreasonable and may prohibit my continuing! read more

My experience on Thursday, July 9th was GREAT!! They of course are taking all the precautions that they need to for covid-15. They took your temperature at the door and masks are required. So I'm new to Richmond m, I just moved here in April and couldn't get a haircut until now. I had Noelle do my medium women's cut. Noelle was AMAZING! she listen to what I asked for and gave suggestions on how to best do it. For the first time in YEARS I was able to get the exact hair cut that I asked for. My husband and I had booked a massage for him and a pedicure for me for our shared birthday. We arrived on time and the front was professional and all looked great. He went back for his 60 minute massage which didn't begin until at least 12-15 after the hour (the clock in the massage room is around 8 minutes fast) and ended at 10 before the hour was up. The therapist didn't get to his hands or feet and the pressure on the rest of his body wasn't great even though he discussed it with the therapist. My grand pedicure, if you can even call it that was no more than a 2 minute massage. Honestly, I had had a pedicure about a week before, so I was mainly interested in the foot massage. However, I came with gel polish and had I know that they really don't like gel on the toes, I would have taken the time to remove it myself. I did get the salt scrub on my legs and it burned my calves leaving them very irritated. I do know the pedicurist's name, but I don't feel it's right to call her out. When my 60 minutes were up for my pedicure ... which my husband joined me in the nail room, I had to walk out. He ended up paying and leaving a nice 30% tip before I could tell him what happened with my pedicure. Once he joined me in the car, we eavh recounted our experiences and both said, never there again. I was a little nervous but my first experience there was better than I ever expected. The salon itself is pretty styled and clean. My only connection to this salon is that I went in to buy product there a couple of months ago--I like some Aveda styling products. Hence two stars. I called last week to ask for clarity regarding their "a la carte" pricing menu posted on their website. Talk about confusing! It seems they charge $86 for a cut PLUS $49 for wash and dry? Anyway, when I called mid morning last week the machine came on so I left a detailed message with my contact info. No one returned the call. In the meantime I found "Better than Sparrows" so I was able to get my haircut already. Flat rate pricing includes washing and styling, so Salon Del Sol, don't worry about calling me back. I had a new appt scheduled at another salon for 2 weeks and the salon canceled 2 days in a row. I was is dire hair straights! I have a conference this weekend and it was so important for me to get my hair done. I called and the staff brought me right in and the young lady that was consulting was so honest and said my major change (from blonde to strawberry) would need a Master to do it. I was about to panic but she went to Shawnda who my all the luck in my life.... had the time (almost 3 hrs!) to do my hair. And I am telling you that I am an avid Aveda user and this is the best salon that I have visited. My hair was perfect! Shawnda took time with me and the team where so excited to see the final result. I had a full highlights appointment with Cole after putting off coloring and trimming my hair for 3 months! Immediately when I walked in the door I was greeted and offered coffee/tea/water. Cole was an absolute dime to work with. Usually at my hair appointments I just sit on my phone or read my book, but with him we were talking and laughing non stop! The products that were used weren't too abrasive on my hair (I'm a natural brunette who has full blonde hair) and even after going home and initially washing after the first appointment a few days later, my hair felt healthy! I always enjoy my time at Salon del Sol Midlothian It isn't just a root color, it is an experience. The fruit infused water, shoulder massage, head and or hand massage at the shampoo sink, the friendly and conscientious stylists and assistants, sitting by the fire with my feet up during color processing while snacking on a bag of complimentary trail mix and the fabulous results derived from seeing expert colorists using safe excellent Aveda products. My previous stylist has moved on so I saw Cole this visit. He was wonderful and did an excellent job on my long ample red head of hair. He was so conscientious too! He had contacted my previous stylist to discuss my hair, he made sure he wasn't double booked because of time required to handle my head of hair and he asked great questions about my last results modifying processing time accordingly giving perfect results! Cole can blow dry my hair, colic and all to a smooth shining result, not all stylist can do this without help from an iron. And he is friendly and fun to spend time with! I booked ahead 4 months to be sure to have no problem booking with Cole! I drive out a way from home to receive all the above services for my cost which is not much more than for an in and out experience. It is so well worth the drive! read more

One who was not only experienced and talented. but who would actually listen and finally I have found her!! Lydia always exceeds my expectations! I love how she cuts, colors and highlights my hair. The entire experience at this salon is so pleasant and relaxing. Lauren, Lydia's assistant since I have started with her, is also a sweetheart. He listens to what we think we need, and makes suggestions based on ease of the style, flattery to us personally, and current trends. My teenage girls love how he makes their hair look. I travel A LOT for work, so much so that I haven't had time in the past couple of months to get a desperately needed haircut while I'm at home. I knew my options were to wait two weeks until I was home again or just try a local place; I was desperate so I went with the second option. The main reason I went with Salon Del Sol is because they do online bookings (which I later learned is pretty new) so at 11:00 at night I was able to book an appointment with Tracy for the next day. The service was great and I could not have been happier with the results. I showed Tracy a picture of what I wanted and she actually took the time to really look at it, suggesting modifications for me (9 times out of 10 whenever I show a stylist a picture they glance at it once and never look at it again). She then took me to the back where I got an incredible scalp massage (I also got a hand massage while I had conditioner in my hair). The haircut was fantastic and Tracy really listened to what I wanted and what problems I had when other stylists cut my hair. The worst thing about this salon is that it isn't in Charlotte and I really can't justify driving four and a half hours for a haircut. read more

We got manicures with Lydia- she was SO friendly and personable, and she did an extremely thorough job with my nails (they still look good 8 days later!)
