I always pop into this branch of Savers Ltd when I am shopping in the One Stop at Perry Barr…read morebecause they have a fantastic range of beauty products at rock bottom prices, in fact a lot of their products are cheaper here than anywhere else including other Savers branches. The inside reminds me of Superdrug in layout and decor and I find it a very straightforward shop to use and find items that I want. The stock varies from week to week, so if you find yourself a real bargain then I suggest you stock up as chances are you could return tomorrow and they have sold out. Recent bargains I've had are Charles Worthington hair products at 99p each, Montagne Jeunesse masks for 19p and L'Oreal lip gloss costing just 49p. I could go on forever, but these are the ones that I bought so much of that my bathroom shelves are heaving! As you walk in you'll see the shelving units are really standard and simply go up and down the shop, unlike the annoying way Boots have started setting their shelves up where they are all going off at right angles to one another. This makes browsing really easy in Savers and because similar products are all displayed together you can compare them at a glance and make the right product choice for you. There are tonnes of hair care products which range from celebrity hairdressers stuff (Worthington, Nicky Clarke etc) to middle of the road items (Tresemme) and then brands I've never heard of but which are extremely cheap. I usually buy my shampoo and conditioner here as there is always something great within my budget, and also because this branch regularly stocks the L'Oreal Kids brand so I can buy the childrens' shampoo at the same time as my own. The deodorants and shower gels are also excellent value in Savers, with brands that I would usuaaly pay more than £2 for costing just 79p - 99p. The Lynx sprays in particular are excellent value and this branch always has a very good selection of these, as well as the shower gels. I think this branch of Savers has an excellent range of gift sets too, at vastly cheaper prices than other shops of this type. At this time of year the range of gift sets is better than ever as Savers attempt to lure shoppers away from the nearby Boots, obviously a discount shop like this will never be as good as the more expensive cosmetics shops but if you are prepared to spend some time mooching then you'll find plenty of top name gift sets at extremely good prices. Savers sells lots of make-up, again at knock down prices, and the make-up ranges from top brands such as L'Oreal to lesser known brands which are very cheap indeed. I even spotted some Urban Decay products in there recently which cost just pennies, compared to the mega pounds this brand usually costs! The staff in this branch of Savers are a mixed bunch, some of them are ready and willing to answer any questions you have while others are obviously just there for their wages at the end of the week and will do little to answer your queries. I have been going there for a while now and recognise the staff to ask and the ones to avoid, it's quite easy really as the unhelpful ones generally go around with faces like a wet weekend so you don't really want to approach these!

Located on the Upper Mall within the Bullring, this store, and their wonderful products will have you hooked for life! They initially were just for men as they had their products in London's top hotels. They source their ingredients from beautiful and amazing places all over the world, such as The Himalayas, Far tropics of Indonesia, Australasia etc. Unlike cheap shower gels, the oil content in these products is very high, so you only need and use a small amount, the fragrance lingers all day and I always receive many compliments from friends asking what I'm wearing. You can buy the small shower gels in a gift set, or the large containers. Soaps, hand washes and now beauty treatments such as bath salts are also available. They are wonderful on your skin, even the soap is a great moisture boost for the blokes. They are very friendly in here, and once you realise that you can't live without these products, you can also sign up to a free email letter, like a newsletter, at the till, to keep you updated on new releases etc. My favourites include classical heavenly gingerlilly, sensual henaleni (only available at Christmas), wild indigo, and the silver birch tree bath salt. This is pure luxury, the scents of the products and creams are like no other, although they are not cheap, you'll value these and love the compliments!

They specialise in health and beauty products at rock bottom prices, usually because the items they sell are last seasons colour or discontinued items. I'm not an icon of fashion so couldn't really care less about what season I'm in when it comes to lipstick or mascara, so the bargains to be had are absolutely amazing. The stock changes so regularly that I couldn't possibly tell you what you might find in this branch on any particular day. Whenever I visit I stock up on shower gels, bubble bath, body spray and the occasional household product - when my beauty products allow me to, of course! What I love about Savers is the fact that the prices of things are so great, a bottle of Charles Worthington shampoo recently cost me just £1 whereas the same bottle (in this years 'shade') costs almost a fiver in Boots. You can buy Impulse body spray for 79p in this shop too, granted they are scents which disappeared from the shelves some six months ago but who really cares about that when you're saving such a lot of money. Another brilliant buy in here is the Montagne Jeunesse facial treatments which are 99p in the supermarkets but are sometimes as cheap as 29p in Savers! Just before Christmas I stocked up on loads of top name gift sets in Savers and gave them out as Christmas pressies, also having enough over for my daughters' to hand out to select friends. The sets were only £2 - £3 each and when I checked in Boots very similar sets were going for almost a tenner The only thing I dislike about Savers is the general condition of the store. It never really looks clean to me and the shelving units are old and in disrepair, even appearing rusty in places. It needs a refit desperately, but if it means them putting their prices up then I hope they just leave it as it is!

Debenhams are still a large store with 178 stores in The UK, Ireland and Denmark and were founded back in 1778. This branch of Debenhams is located in the Bullring mall, with enterences from both street and mall level, it is a decent sized store too. The lifts here were pretty slow, and they didn't show much signal of it working, and although it was, I didn't know it was in use, so I nearly just walked away, which was disappointing It is quite a large store with a Brow Bar, Salon and Cafe and quite a few floors as well. I didn't have any close encounters with staff to comment on, they seemed okay, just average. The signposts for what is on which floor in the store could be better advertised, this store is okay but it is nothing more than that, the building its-self isn't as nice as other department stores mentioned, and in a way it has a less high-end feel, which makes it a little less special in a way, especially to tourists and potential shoppers.

Last month I came in as I had a 5% off voucher on multiple purchases so I bought underwear on one floor, then on another day some clothes for a wedding. When I got home I inspected the receipt and worked out though it said 5% off, nothing was actually deducted! I took one dress back as I didn't wear it for a wedding and mentioned there was nothing deducted! She said it's not on all concessions ... Something the other two cashiers didn't say when scanning the clothes! I've given them four stars as I do go to the beauty department to buy skin and hair care. I do ask for samples and majority will give them .., more so with a purchase! I like to walk away with something extra!! Lol They have a beauty points card which is useful and worth collecting points. You get money off when you earn enough.

It's pretty much your average Boots, it's fairly spacious and the stock is reasonable for a store of its size. The store was clean, and well laid out, again similar to what you'd expect from Boots. The fridge section of to-go food and drinks was smaller than other Boots stores, but still considerably better than at WHSmith, next store. They did appear to be slightly understaffed, with no staff members on the shop floor, but they were fairly quiet when I visited during the afternoon, so I guess they didn't feel it was required. They do close at 6 pm during the week, I do find this to be a little early, but this is in line with most of the other shops nearby. 3*

Boots always has good offers on and is the first place I try to go for lunch on the go as I think there meal deals are great at only £2.99 and the shapers ones are delicious and healthy!
