The Center inside is beautiful and we were impressed. Our seats were in the third row so we had a great view. Our seats were comfortable and our knees did not touch the seats in front of us and others could walk past us comfortably. The main plot has Sophie being raised on a Greek island by her never married mother Donna. Sophie schemes to find her dad once she reads her mother's diary and learns that Bill, Harry and Sam were her suitors. Sophie invites each of Donna's three would-be fathers to her upcoming wedding, much to Donna's chagrin. Critics called it a silly amd unbelievable play but we enjoyed it. The cast got a standing ovation. Parking is not easy in that area so we ubered over there. Being stress-free always works well for us. We plan to go again soon.

Secondly the type of shows done there are far more adult oriented... shows like stand up comedies (which we know can be foul mouthed) and of course the two times I have gone there including the most recent has been to see burlesque/cabaret.... which is certainly someplace you want a secret entrance for... The most recent show there, Erika Moon's Burlesque Avant-Garde was incredible. Certainly something you don't expect to see in theater. It was fun, sexy, funny, and memorable. I had seen one of her prior burlesque shows at this theater about 3 years ago with an ex of mine (Erika Moon's Burlesque Maginfique). Most recently I took my brother and a very close yelp friend of mine to it and we all loved it... I know I certainly did... I think my jaw dropped dozens of times. It's a small, very intimate space... you can see what's going on the stage simply because the space is so small. It also has a small bar which serves snacks, beer, wine and hard liquor.. and it's brought to your table while you are watching the event... again a difference from the main stage. I think it's a wonderful little venue and certainly one which I have fond memories of. I recommend anyone in the area or in miami to try this theatre out and the different types of shows it gives you won't find in your typical theater.

We are very happy we did! The venue itself is great. It is theater style, with about 15 rows each with about 15 seats. Their are tables to the sides of the venue. The stage is raised and the back half of the rows are tiered. Every seat has a great view. Not a bad seat in the house. The help was extremely friendly and helpful. Everything about this place is great. We saw Motown Magic, who were excellent. The variety of shows is very good. Overall, I would say that our experience was wonderful. We will check who is playing there and buy tickets whenever we comeback to our condo in Florida.

Venue was great, do arrive early in order to get nearby parking since most is street parking and at night the streets in Wynwood are not always brightly lit. Event was advertised from 7pm-9pm. Event started closer to 7:45 and ended at around 8:30, not quite what was advertised but nonetheless it was a great time spent. I've participated in many other sound baths, this one in particular was good, it had a variety of different instruments used for sound. I recommend brining your own mat for extra cushion and a type of pillow for head support if you choose to lay down. The visual effects are impressive. Will be back to experience other events. Would like to try the breath work one!

There is something special and old world about going to a live play. There is something even more special about passing on a love of live theatre to your kids. This theatre company specializes in child friendly productions and puts on about four shows a year. Their 330 seat 'home' theatre is a renovated 1946 movie theatre with an authentic art deco lobby. I say 'home'; theatre because the first show I saw by this troupe was in South Beach and it was there I signed up for their annual program which they mail to your home - mine arrived today which sparked this review. This year they are focusing on performing in the Miami Shores theater which suits me fine because you don't have that nightmare of parking like you have in South Beach (took me 45 minutes last time to find parking near the theatre on Lincoln Road) Ticket prices are crazy reasonable...$15 per person. And the shows are just long enough to hold the children's fascination (and believe me...they are fascinated by live theatre - moreso than at the movies) but not that long that the fidgets set in. From the little experience I have had here, go early because the seats fill up fast. This season their new production I intend to go and see is Inanna and the Huluppu Tree. It doesn't start until April 2009 so plenty of time to gather a Yelp possee :) If you have guests coming to visit with kids and you are at a loss for what to do with them this is a brilliant option. The Colony Theater is a historic performing arts center on Lincoln Road in Miami. Built at a cost…read moreof $150,000, it first opened as a 1,200 seat Art Deco Paramount Pictures movie house on January 25, 1935 with actress Carol Lombard as the guest of honor. In the 1940's during WWII, the theater showed health and training videos to GI's in training. In the 1960's the movie theater was renovated along with all of Lincoln Road in the MiMo style of architecture (midcentury modern). Seating capacity was reduced to 894 seats. In the ensuing years the Colony used as a movie house and a live performance space. In 1971 Samuel Kipnis purchased the theater and used it to host The Greater Miami Educational Cultural Series and he showed educational films from his private collection. In 1982 ownership of the theater was taken over by the City of Miami Beach and the Miami City Ballet used it as a performance space. In 2006 the Colony Theatre underwent a $6.5 million renovation that returned it to its original Art Deco style and updated it with new light and sound equipment. I love when a historic building is saved, especially when it is such a wonderful example of Art Deco architecture. How wonderful that the theater is still being used today. It is even said to be haunted to be the spirit of a barking poodle and one that likes to hang out by the main stage and lobby. Today the Colony Theatre is a 417 seat performance venue managed by South Florida theater company, Miami New Drama who perform their theatrical season in the theater. The Colony also hosts film festivals, comedy, music, dance, and theater performances. The theater is nicknamed "Miami's Beauty Queen." Make like the golden age of Hollywood and take in a show. .

Making this a priority - is important. All of you out there "newlyweds" trust me it makes a difference. So we went to the Colony theater on Lincoln Road. It was a cool night -perfect for a cocktail, relaxing and easy.. no hurry just taking in the sights and sounds. Latin music playing in the background, smell of perfume and spices in the air- outdoor cafes with with the warmth of flame lamps lighting the cool air. Breezing into the theater the sweet girl at the door greeted us with a huge smile and scanned our tickets. I fell in love with the play " Anna in the Tropics" this extraordinary play written by the Pulitzer Prize winner Nilo Cruz-playwright and director -is a work of art! It demonstrates the power of literature to move and inspire you. One of my favorite books, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, is central to this play. I thoroughly enjoyed the powerful images presented in this masterpiece. Art and literature came together in an extraordinary and impactful way. It is a play for adults because it deals with strong themes. But it is well done! I highly recommend this play! It is worth every penny. The quaint theatre situated on Lincoln Road surrounded by restaurants and bars was also quite comfortable and accommodating.
