My experience at this hotel was indeed the worst that I have ever experienced, it is true that I fixated my review on the leisure facilities and the incompetency of the leisure staff to alert us to the fact that they deem under 18s to be children and therefore are not allowed to use the facilities. For the sake of clarification therefore, allow me to provide an insight into staying at this hotel:
The drive up to the hotel is very lovely there is a scenic view driving towards the hotel with trees and a lake, be wary however as the road surface isn't of the best and you may end up damaging your tyres if you are not careful.
Finding the main reception was a little bit of a mission as the Hotel has many different buildings this is particularly annoying at night when you are tired and visibility is poor, but once you arrive the hotel is presented by a small quaint reception area with a small water feature which I did think was very aesthetically pleasing.
On first view the room seemed nice, it was spacious. However upon closer inspection I noticed that the room was extremely dusty- I peered behind the TV and was horrified by the amount of dust present. I dared not to inspect the bed and this hotel's lack of hygiene kept me tossing and turning all night thinking about the dust and the hidden contents of my bed. On the plus side, the bathroom seemed adequate, with large basins and a bathtub- do not expect extravagance, it is very basic. The bathroom also had no warning signs for hot water, nor did it mention anything in regard to bathmats- again health and safety isn't fantastic either. Such information should be readily available to guests and my mother actually slipped in the bath, luckily escaped uninjired.
If you do make the mistake of staying here, make sure to ask upon checking in if they will provide you with such necessities, you might be pleasantly surprised.
Moving on to the night spent at the hotel, be prepared for a LOT of noise. These walls are so paper thin I question their existence. In the early hours of the morning I could hear children running up and down the corridors, the TV from the next room as well as other guests' conversations. I was most disturbed and about 5am decided to stay awake as trying to sleep was impossible with such noise levels.
I have already written a review in relation to the leisure facilities but for the vulnerable guest, be prepared to walk some distance to actually get into the leisure club. It is not conveniently in the same building as the main hotel and walking to and from the leisure facilities is nothing short of a pain, especially as it is Winter.
In regard to hotel staff, the Receptionist was very professional and kept a smile despite the nights' shennagagins. But I shall reiterate, the Hotel Manager- Richard and Leisure Club Staff are nothing but egoistic, extremely rude and it seems highly untrained to deal with people. The Manager in particular is very abrasive and will talk to you as though you are beneath him- highly amusing of course considering his lack of achievement of someone of his age and role in the Company. In summary the hotel staff are awful and nothing but a bunch of bullies who need to undergo training to understand how to speak to other people, although such courtesy and people skills is common sense.
Lastly might I add that Rob writes in his review comparing my situating where I expected my 15yr old sister to be allowed to use the leisure facilities with me, to that of bringing a Dog to the hotel. Allow me to clarify:
Your argument bears no weight- it is not the norm to bring a dog into a hotel, as it is for a 15 yr old to use the swimming pool and leisure facilities! I do in fact deem your comparative theory to be most offensive! Not only do your theories have no sound basis they are logically flawed. And I am the one who is alleged to be 'inept'.
In conclusion- I will let the public decide on the rating of this Hellhole in the hope that we get an honest opinion next time, from a genuine Guest. read more
